ULPT: Call a debt collector and continuously add more calls to the same number so they keep talking to themselves. It's hilarious and they will eventually block your number.

Or don't call them at all. If you call them, you are acknowledging your debt, which gives them more reasons to call you back and update your phone number with the credit bureaus.

Calling them back is not an acknowledgment of debt. Acknowledging a debt is acknowledgment of debt. You can say you're calling back for information purposes.

I think they might have meant that calling them back shows that your phone number is an active number. At least that's what I was thinking.

I read that when you get suspected spam calls, to never even answer the phone. Just picking it up and saying hello, gives them the greenlight to sell your number to all the other scam assholes, because your number was just proven to be a working number

I changed my voicemail to the “do do do this number has been disconnected” message…it worked, the calls stopped.
