You know what would have been actually neutral? Respectful sounding, non-pandering? Fucking LATIN! It's right there you absolute wingnuts, imagine adding x just to avoid adding the word people instead.
There is. There is parlance in "academic circles" that denounce Spanish as a sexist language because it has masculine and feminine forms. For example, if a girl is tall, you would say "Ella es alta." For a boy it is "El es alto".
While there are leftist Mexicans who take this stance, it is an extremely small minority that other Mexicans mock. The "Latinx" essentially boils down to academic whites telling other cultures how they can "do better."
The ironic thing with leftist intellectuals is they decry colonization, but then try to force their beliefs on other cultures.
when I came to canada, i remember my teacher intentionally butchering my mother's chinese name when pronouncing it and proceeded to argue with me, claiming I was in the wrong. Imagine being latino all your life in mexico, then coming to america and having a bunch of white people call you latinx and arguing that you're a bigot for accepting it.
In spanish every noun has a gender. If a group has both genders, the default is male. So if you have a group of women and men latin people, they are "latino". Americans didnt like it and changed it to a "neutral" term of latinx. Latinx cant be pronounced in spanish. So it is a mn american problem bc they dont understand the gendered languages, and an american solution only valid for americans
There is a middle ground which can be easily pronounced. I live in Mexico and those of us who aren't assholes use "e" to make phrases gender inclusive. For example: "Buenas tardes todes". The language does default to masculine when speaking to mixed groups of people (10 women and 1 man) which kinda seems unfair. Sometimes I just like defaulting to feminine just to fuck with men who have obvious frail masculinity. Buenas tardes todas.
Which makes it even more infuriating. They didnt bother asking any spanish speaking person because the -e for neutral was really extended before they decided -x is the neutral sufix.
They could at least have gone with "latine" but nooo it wasn't enough to paternalize and entire group of people in trying to solve a non-issue, they had to anglify the "solution" too.
Probably because an outside group made a solution for them to a problem that didn't exist. Like if your teacher invented a new slang word for you at school because they didn't want you using your own
Latin is a gendered language, Latino and Latina literally both mean latin, not their gender..... The only people that would come up with LatinX didn't understand the concepts of the language.
I repeat, Latino and Latina do not mean Latin man or Latin woman, they both mean just Latin, they have pronouns and those are not it.
The only people I've ever seen that are of latin decent and used the latinX nonsense were multi-generational U.S. and very left leaning, most of them unable to speak spanish.
You might be surprised to learn "Latino people" aren't a monolith. I don't know who came up with it, but if they were just 1 latino person, that doesn't mean the rest have to be on board.
Because the Left was trying to “fix” other people’s language while also not knowing a damn thing about it. You can’t actually pronounce “Latinx” in Spanish, the closest you can get is “Latin X.”
because of their progressive gender theory they refuse to use gendered pronoun so they went with latinx probably.
and also the latin america aka south america is as vast and diverse as europe so they probably don't wanna be bundled into a single monolithic demography. they all have their own history and problems that are sometimes at odds with other latinx.
Gendered language was (is) a huge problem for progressives, so while trying to get rid of phrases like "hey guys" they also went to change Spanish so that transgender Latin Americans feel more comfortable (?)
exactly. just like most similar regarded shit they try to pull off - herstory instead of history, womyn instead of women etc. they manufacture problems that arent there and screech autistically while throwing turds around them
My mother is from Mexico (half German but born/raised in Mexico), speaks fluent Spanish, lived in Mexico until late childhood, etc. I had never even heard this term until the other night my gf used it and I was like "what the fuck is that supposed to mean?" Latinos are a proud people and inventing some kind of progressive term for them was a solution to a problem that did not exist and shows a complete disconnect with their culture.
As unwieldy and unliked by many Spanish speakers as it is, Latinx was actually invented by native Spanish speakers - namely Puerto Rican youth in online forums where Spanish and English were both being used.
Gendered languages have a recent habit of making gender inclusive terms that only really work in writing. French in particular is unpronouncable "un∙e professeur∙e". This is similar to when Spanish uses the @ symbol as a shorthand for gendered word endings. Again it's intended for writing only.
This is the sort of situation Latinx evolved from in online forums where a lot of queer people were.
It's use outside of there has been co-opted in very clunky ways, for sure. But in the end this isn't some forced change by white people, or at least it didn't start that way. Definitely turned into that however.
Arguments about "how language works" are weak since languages evolve and this is actually an example of one dialect evolving naturally. The Spanish ñ started as a shorthand for nn in Latin words (anno to año) literally to save space on expensive paper lol.
Spanish has a concept called "agreement" where you change the ending of adjectives based on the gender of a noun. "The beautiful house" translates to "la casa bonita" while "the beautiful cat" translates to "el gato bonito".
Trying to add x-endings is basically white progressives telling Spanish-speakers they need to remove the beauty of their language to appease gender-woo-woo activists.
The crazy part is it's still statistically possible that the "shift right" across all metrics could be 100% from mail-in Biden voters simply deciding not to show up while Republican support remained steady. The raw numbers reflect this.
It'll probably blow over. I'm Cuban, I remember everyone online being super pissed at us in 2016 because Florida went red and for some reason we caught the blame. People forgot about it in like a month.
Cubans don't vote republican because of socialism lol. I can't believe the red scare is still something you people think is relevant. They vote republican because most Cubans are socially conservative and Catholic.
I personally know a lot of Vietnamese americans who are not religious that vote republican. How is it not surprising that when communism stole your land, threw you in labor camps, killed your loved ones, and proceeded to run your country into the ground for 20 years before switching over to a capitalistic system not make you hate them?
The stories my mom told me haunt me still. Her, my abuela, and my uncle are the only relatives i ever knew from that side of the family because of the diaspora.
But, if the Cuban revolution never happened and she hadn't fled to Puerto Rico, she would never have met my dad, and I would never have been born to shitpost on 4chan lite. Wudduyagunnado
Vietnamese refugees are not even close to privileged, but they get the same anti Asian affirmative action because they look like other Asians. At the same time, they support fair, legal immigration rather than border olympics.
Combined with a small share of single parents, it's not really a mystery that they are no fans of the left.
And every Cuban I know under the age of 40 that votes Republican does so because they dislike the Democrat support for LGBT rights, abortion, and the non-traditional family and the odd disagreement on fiscal or foreign policy.
The few Cubans I know who actually have concerns about socialism, all of which are 40 or older, are still heavily subscribed to the 1980s view of "socialism", rather than the modern understanding about a socialist economy versus social programs in a capitalist economy.
It's just a few assholes being very loud online, and people are taking those message and amplifying it to say 'Look, this is what all leftists want'. Same thing happens when some MAGA dumbass punches a poll worker or something.
Harris only won Latino voters by six points, a steep drop-off from Biden’s 33-point edge in 2020 and Clinton’s 38-point advantage eight years ago, according to exit poll data. Latino men gravitated toward Trump in greater numbers than ever before, with Trump winning the group by a 12-point margin, according to CNN exit polls. Biden won Latino men by 23 points in 2020 and Clinton won by 31 points in 2016. A majority of Latina women did vote for Harris, but she won the demographic by only 22 points, a major shift from the 39 points Biden won with in 2020 and 44-point Clinton advantage in 2016.
32 point swing among all Latinos towards Republicans versus 2016 absolutely shatters the Obama coalition.
Racism of lowered expectations. The modern left in most of the West has basically modernized the concept of "the White man's burden" in that they know what's best for minorities and believe their way is the only right way and any minority who doesn't agree is either uneducated, stupid, or a house n***er in the case of black Americans. That's what they called Clarence Thomas for his position on Roe v Wade.
How is any of that more racist than the blatant racist rhetoric, violence, demonizing, and policies that comes from the right? A clear example is Trump’s 2020 “Chynuh virus” got a lot Asian people beat up by MAGA republican voters.
I was going to posted something about my friend group that consist of several different race saying fucked up shit to each other and the I realized something that might apply to you: if you're homies aren't comfortable enough around you that you've never heard say something that could be considered racist if the wrong person overheard it, then they're either not your homies and you're only tolerated because you're friends/family with somebody they're actually cool with or you're the friend that nobody likes but they don't say shit because you're friends/family with somebody they do like.
I don’t know why everyone in this thread wants to normalize/justify saying racist things? While also being mad at the left and claiming that they are secretly racist and that’s not okay. Like pick a lane.
I'm mostly joking. I'm Mexican and when it comes to the white friends I've made they usually open up and become more friendly once they see that I'm not easily offended. We usually share the same option of certain groups of people lol
Right racists are racist in front of you so you know who your enemies are. Left racists are racist behind your back. It is much worse to have your friend betray you than to have your enemies attack you from the front.
I wouldn’t say more hateful. I’d just say that both the left and right hate in their own way. The left tends to virtue signal and look down on minorities. There’s generally a lot of suppressed racism. If they don’t like you they don’t tell it to your face.
Right-leaning people tell it to your face but they also try to actively reinforce or promote racism. That’s why right-wing politics is usually associated with racism.
Same here, I’d like right-wingers if they only called me a piece of shit to my face. What I DON’T like is watching them try to convince others that I’m a piece of shit for my face.
as someone looking from outside, I'd say both sides are nasty in their own way, but at least the right are aware that they are a bunch of assholes, while the left are horrible hypocrites.
I want him to somehow magically create a legit screening process and sped up the legal immigration process. And only deport people who actually need to be deported.
Those comments right there are full of people who want police to racially profile and to kick out legal immigrants mistaken as illegal immigrants. They want Latino republicans to be put in “immigrant camps” because that’s what they expect from Trump. They want them to suffer so they’re proven right.
They don't want to, they just know it's going to happen. Just like they didn't want abortion bans, but they knew women would die from them and they have.
The results of these policies are easy to predict. If the Trump administration starts going neighborhood to neighborhood to deport illegal immigrants, legal people will be caught in the crossfire. It's inevitable.
Knowing the government — they’d probably fuck up and kick some legal people out. Best-case scenario is detain them while they spend a week trying to confirm their citizenship status.
That'll be pretty terrible for the people swept up in it. I won't be swept up in of course. I think one of the main questions about the 'mass deportations' is the logistics of it. It'll take a massive amount of spending and hiring to put together a team to deport millions of people... I don't think they'll be able to handle it, and I bet that a lot of shady grifters will get in on it.
No we don’t dumbass. I’m a Latino male who voted for Harris. I think if a lot of illegal immigrants get deported it is a certainty that many legal immigrants will also get deported whether mistakenly or on purpose.
It's the dichotomy of the forum. Half of it are personas for the jokes that likely wouldn't fly elsewhere. The other half earnestly believe in the shit.
The entire point of building a coalition of voter groups is that you offer positives to each one, so to have that thrown back at you and an obviously worse choice picked is gonna sting. Not exactly sure why everyone in this post is expecting the Dems to keep scurrying after Latino voters when they were clearly told in this election that whatever they offer means jack shit, and they’d rather have the party that characterises them as criminals, rapists, and “garbage”.
Minorities already knew that. If you’ve never noticed, most changes in language or policy are done without consulting the actual people, which just comes off as condescending.
The reason why many Latinos hate Latinx isn’t because they hate trans people, but because it was white people screaming about a language they don’t speak and demanding it be changed because they don’t agree with it
Every Mexican person I know hates the Clinton's with a passion for their fuckery in South America.
They have no qualms with republicans for the most part other than thinking trump is a silly baffoon, at least he doesn't send advanced weapons to destabilize south America
They tried changing it to Latine. You can practically see a white woman in her 40s that's been going to school her entire life, never had a real job, making the Power Point slide explaining why Latinx is "inclusive." My other favorite thing that they'll say that let's me know they're regarded, "Its not hard to say." No, it's physically not difficult to say it. It's difficult to listen to Ivy League white women telling minorities how they should refer to one another.
You can practically see a white woman in her 40s that's been going to school her entire life, never had a real job, making the Power Point slide explaining why Latinx is "inclusive."
I saw a great quote along these lines: "every time a woke white HR lady uses Latinx in her commitment-to-DEI email, two Hispanics turn Republican"
Yeah a lot of replicated research has shown that liberals purposely dumb down their speech when talking to minorities. Similarly, they think minorities are too dumb to get ID.
Democrats aren't the left. The Democrats are center right these days. Liberals are also center right. The left is and will always be socialists and communists
I'm not sure they guy who said he's going to be a dictator on day one and that we have "bad genes" in our country will care much about whether or not you're an actual citizen. He wants to ramp up the denaturalization programs that began during his last term. It'd be foolish to think he won't abuse that.
Every portion of our government is republican, Trump plans on replacing all of those in significant positions of power with Trump loyalists, and one of his primary goals is to concentrate power in the executive branch. He made it obvious when he said if he's elected you'll never have to vote again, his goal is to dismantle our government and remove as many of those checks and balances as he can.
Anywhere but the US. It isn't the first time we deported legal immigrants and from someone very close to Trump, it's not going to be the last: https://x.com/StephenM/status/1712094935820780029?lang=en
Its not entirely wrong. About 30% of pro-conservative posts on the Internet are Russian bots.
That's not me pulling numbers out my ass, that's legitimate information by US National Security reports. And yes, that is for the 2024 election, not 2016.
You did it first by insinuating a point that I was defending the character of someone that I wasn't. You sound like the insufferable kind of internet smartass who takes everything literally and then points at a technical "error" when someone says "everything" instead of "practically all" and thinks they won an argument just because the other person stopped talking to them.
are you retarded? Old reddit was mainly hardcore libertarians/ people who's political views weren't mainstream even if they voted dem. Back in the day Ron Paul was everywhere on here.
I don't understand this take. If Russia can use the Internet to spread propaganda to influence the elections of a competing super power in a way that benefits them, why wouldn't they?
I've posted this same inane thing multiple times so far in this thread because I can't come up with a way to refute facts, so i'm pretending you're stupid and wrong because you use the same site i'm using right now
Link? I know I've seen posts about people that aren't going to be surprised when their parents get deported under the Trump presidency they voted for, but I haven't seen people being excited for mass deportation under Trump unless they voted for Trump without understanding what it meant.
I saw a ULPT post where they were calling to deport family members and friends of Trump supporters because “that’s what they voted for so they deserve it”. Not even Trump supporters, but innocent people that may have been pro-Kamala.
I cannot fathom how you can hate Trump’s policies for what they are but then somehow convince yourself it’s okay to take advantage of those policies to punish innocent people because they happen to be related to someone that voted for Trump. This is like saying “punish Hitler supporters by reporting their Jewish family members to the Gestapo”.
I feel like the fact that these were posts from UnethicalLPT, is important context, I saw comments and posts about how these could be bots, so take it with a grain of salt I guess.
I know that it's either a location thing, where people closer to the border may feel this way because it's directly relevant to what they probably see every day already, or it's meming, or it could be just some initial lashing out by people who are rather upset because they know the extent of what another Trump term means. I'd say that it's really hard to say just how wide spread these feelings are in the "liberal-leaning" community as a whole.
Either way, I'd avoid using terminology as, "Post after post," to describe seeing a couple on ULPT that may not even hit the front page of the Reddit echo chamber which is not the majority of the voters' at large as many users that also point out this small population of hypocrisy have already pointed out, gladly I might add.
Lol wut? One of the biggest reasons why Trump wants to get back in the office is to use a law to get revenge on everyone that he field wronged him. He Will have the full authority of each of the branches of government to do so. There's no checks and balances on him. He could do whatever he wants. You can't go to the courts because the courts are in his pocket. You can use Congress because the Congress, men and women are all conservatives. And he is the executive branch. His platform was based on getting the immigrants, the lgbtq and feminist out of here and that's exactly what's going to happen. So sure the leftist can take pot shots and do their petty stuff, but that's it. It's like the end of saving Private Ryan, but there's no plane to blow up the tank.
I'm sorry I don't have brain worms. Just regular old intelligence. The only conspiracy theory i subscribe is that Epstein didn't kill himself and covid came from a lab. Logically I can argue those, hunter Biden stuff is just stupid.
Going after the people who implemented political prosecutions with the goal of interfering with the election, should be put in prison. Same with those that aided in bringing millions of illegals into the country. They are the leaders of the whole shabang.
The average illegal immigrant? They were just going with the flow. Should they be deported? Absolutely, but reporting them out of spite is wrong.
If you got into a dispute with your neighbor because he mowed the grass 6 inches into your yard, and then you report him for smoking a little weed on the weekends, would you consider that justified?
Its now his right...what else does a leftist have? Courts, congress and executive branch are fully in trumps pockets. He can literally do what ever he wants. He wants lower rates? Do it or you get fired. Doesn't like a department? He can close it and fire everyone. I don't think you understand how total this victory is for trump. I'll be fine here but if things get really bad, I have Canadian residency and a high income skill set. Until then I'm just going to sit back and watch.
Does it matter? Hurt people hurt people. People are going to get Back however they can. This election showed them that being nice being ethical or truthful or whatever doesn't get results. I'll be fine but I'm going to just sit back and watch what happens over these next 4 years. It's going to be nice to see everyone removed from the FDA and EPA and when we can trust the food we eat or the medicine we take or order we drink because it's filled with plastic. This is what I would call a total victory for conservatives, I hope they get 8 years.
Won't let me link to another subreddit, here is title from unethicallifeprotips:
ULPT request: I have a neighbor who's a huge MAGA fan. He is Mexican-American and his two parents are here illegally and live with him. How would I go about reporting him and getting them deported? I'm in Florida
You guys do, but lefties are supposedly okay with them. I am. But that guy immediately betrayed his supposed morality and dove head first into hypocrisy for the sake of some kind of revenge on his own neighbor.
Was that his morals? I guess I'm left leaning, and I have no real issue with deportation of illegal immigrants, not the desire of a country to have strict control of who is allowed to enter.
I'm a European leftist and if someone came here illegally they should go back where they came from. Easy as.
If we don't have control over who comes and leaves we don't have control over what's going on, we don't have Schengen, we don't have free movement (everybody will impose their own border checks which will make things take longer and stuff will be more expensive) and we'd have to expand our border security forces GREATLY.
Once illegal immigrants started coming by Belarus thanks to Lukashenko and Putin we built a fucking wall.
Mind referencing a couple? I'm genuinely curious as I hadn't seen that. Given Trump's repeated claims that his first priority is the “largest deportation effort in American history,” I'd expect that similar claims by others would be called out better.
It'd hilarious. I saw a post last night of a guy asking how to call ICE on his neighbors. As a leftoid, so many other leftoids will just toss their morality at the slightest irritation. It's wild to watch
Nah that’s just a small minority who managed to influence companies enough to use it. I’d say most people who are left either don’t care or think it’s dumb
I dated a girl that does academic research for psychology and Latinx was heavily used by all of her colleagues. They eventually figured out that everyone was offended by that term and switched it to “latine”. I’m sure once the Latino community rejects that one, they will make up another.
If you think about it, it’s just more white colonialism trying to suppress/supersede minority culture again. Latinos don’t believe in the gender spectrum dogshit that white people made up, which is the basis of the latinx slur in the first place.
I combine it to “la-tinks” cuz it sounds like “twinks” and makes it extra insulting to get a fun rise out of my Latino friends and coworkers. Corps and govt to a lesser degree were pushing it but most real people knew better.
I was visiting my parents a year or two ago and they had on some morning talk show, may even have been Good Morning America, and they said it there. It was extremely jarring to hear just used unironically like that.
In the past 7 years I've worked for 3 of the Big 5 and every one used it.
They all also had automatic notices for when you use things like "whitelist/blacklist" (should be "allowlist/denylist" now), "grandfathered" (should be "legacy" now), etc. and they included giving a notice when you use "Latino".
Offline, most Latinos that grew up in Latin America don't use it but the second-fourth generation American "Latinos" absolutely use it all the time.
Look at the most recent Dragon Age Veilguard Game, or Spiderman 2.
Actually, Dragon Age Veilguard Game is extra retarded, because I know for sure they tried to push this shit in Spanish, French, German and Russian, all exclusively gendered languages.
And this is colonization, the old 16th century genocidal kind.
It gets used in colleges and DEI workplaces. That being said I've only ever met ONE non-gay latino that unironically used/supported the term. Surprise: I met him at a liberal college.
Andersonville? That's actually funny because I just heard it used there by a friend's acquaintance while grabbing a drink with them at Hopleaf. I don't even live in Chicago. You're quite lucky to have never heard it. Even my company's HR uses it as well so it's pretty well permeated into the business world. Don't forget that the "terminally online" are real people that do physically exist in the world and they're a much larger proportion of the population than before COVID.
What? A handful of college professors saying radical shit in a system that is many people's first time of ever meeting people with different world views? This must be a new phenomenon, it's never, ever, happened before. Especially not during the civil rights era.
How we've managed to survive in a society this long with this massive threat is INCREDIBLE.
Not recently progressives tried to make it a thing a decade ago, but anyone who listened knows Latinos don't like the phrase and never did so the word quickly fell off. Only people still using it are stubborn nobodies.
Yeap. This Ecuadorian girl I was hooking up with for awhile she used it in her profile on OKC. I asked her about it saying I heard that was racist. She said she likes it.
Trump... ran on the platform of deporting immigrants. Isn't this exactly what you wanted? I don't understand. They're literally cooperating with your administration's objective. Or are they just doing it to the wrong people?
So did the person in the initial post. Parents of a legal citizen were here illegally. He wanted to deport them. Again, literally Trump's platform. You really shouldn't just go along with other comments here. It makes you look as if you lack reading comprehension.
I don't really care if people here think I lack reading comprehension.
Point being made is that if you're so much in favour of inmigrants, saying 'oh now that you voted against your own class interests, go fuck yourselves', shows the reality that it was all moral posturing from the self anointed "good guys".
If you really care for them, you double down and go understand why is it that they're not aligned.
I think you're just looking for reasons to be mad. The dems are falling in line with your guy. They're going along with what this country apparently wants and you're still complaining about it. Kind of feels like you just want to be upset, man
Are you unaware that there are hispanic families that came to the US legally? Why do you believe that every brown person benefited off illegal immigration?
Not even remotely sure how you got that out of what I said, but as you are clearly illiterate or disabled, let me try and lay it out for you a little more clearly.
The Trump administration is not concerned with how someone arrived in the US. Whether they did so legally or not. They plan to change the process of legal immigration, and use the new laws and definitions to also go after those who currently have legal status through means they don't like.
The Trump administration is not concerned with how someone arrived in the US. Whether they did so legally or not. They plan to change the process of legal immigration, and use the new laws and definitions to also go after those who currently have legal status through means they don't like. This even includes people have have citizenship.
lmao. absolutely delusional, I can't believe they let people like you vote.
a move that gives more heft to the Trump administration’s broad efforts to remove from the country immigrants who have committed crimes.
-
“The Denaturalization Section will further the department’s efforts to pursue those who unlawfully obtained citizenship status and ensure that they are held accountable for their fraudulent conduct,”
As far as i'm aware, this has always been a thing.
Once again, never once used or insinuated anything about brown people, nor hatred. Just telling you the already self stated policies of Trump and his cabinet to-be.
You seem to be imaging argument points that aren't there.
Don't expect rational thought here lol... They are mental gymnastic Olympians. Blame the other side for their doing is literally "how to" 101 for them, and it works. Do thing, complain other side did the thing, profit. It's the G in GOP.
How is that hypocritical though? One can be tolerant of someone else's distinct views and lifestyle choices without needing to support criminal activity. Being tolerant isn't some huge blanket that lets people just do whatever they want.
Stephen Miller just tweeted that they have a 'denaturalization plan' and are going to 'turbocharge' it. Lmao, these people are trying to act like they're the saviors of immigrants when they just elected a guy who doesn't care if they're here legally or not, so long as they look the part of 'somebody who should be deported'.
They are only legal because they were fast tracked in. The Biden administration was literally shipping immigrants in, giving them living and housing stipends . This was done with no votes, notice or permissions to the townsfolk of many municipalities. This spits on the face on immigrants that came in via processes, that they had to prove literacy, get vaccinations' and proof of financial stability to even get a visa to visit. Sorry they got to go.
lol damn. When you read 4 posts consisting of a handful of people who want to deport illegal immigrants magically that equates to the entire left in the country becoming scumbags overnight.
That's the thing mate, latinos don't mind being called slurs, if u wanna use it to offend then is all good my dude, we find funny when people use to offend us cause they don't realize we live by slurs. Its only annoying when is use in a condescending “inclusive” way. Insult latinos all u want, cause jokes on u, we into that
I genuinely refuse to believe people say "latinx" unironically. The only people who say that word are those whoa re intentionally trying to get a rise out of Hispanic people, and companies who have never given a shit about them in the first place (and I haven't seen the latter happen in the last two years)
How dare Latinx persons of color vote for a candidate running on less incentives for unauthorized illegal immigration?!?
Who will scrub the shit out of my toilets?!?
I need my endless supply of undocumented poor brown people to scrub my shit covered toilet for peso’s on the dollar! 😡🌈💅😡
^Some democrats out there who thinks:
- Latino Americans can’t think for themselves
- Latino Americans and specifically Mexican Americans can’t/shouldn’t support legal immigration and less incentives for illegal migrants soly based on their ethnicity
- All Latinos are good for is scrubbing toilets and picking crops
Por favor.... aumenta mi sueldo.....dame seguro médico bueno.....mi familia no puede comer...... Estoy preocupado por mi futuro......porqué me sigues llamando "Latinx"?
And then I have motherfuckers telling me that they prefer latinx because word gender is more significant in their native language. At least John Leguizamo could have done us a solid and let us know instead of going along with it when he joined an interview with a couple of those folks. Just another reason to never refer to anyone as anything other than "they" or the aforementioned "motherfuckers."
Soooooo, kids who can't vote are the representation of the voterbase? Gotcha.
Also, is it a surprise that kids are going to be awful in highschool when nobody can raise their kids to have a decent sense of morals now and it's just excused to be a complete jackass in highschool because "kids will be kids"?
That is something I noticed about the noisiest members of the liberal side of things is that they're very quick to preach about being progressive and inclusive but they're equally as quick to hate and exclude people because they're not like them.
They think that just because they're tolerant of new concepts such as transgenderism or being on board with gay marriage or other personal freedoms like that that automatically makes them progressive and inclusive when in reality they're complete disdain for anyone who doesn't think like that really shows the hypocrisy. If you really want to call yourself progressive and inclusive then you need to be open to and accepting of other people's way of looking at things and not hate them for it. Understanding someone you don't agree with is a pretty big virtue that they don't seem to have
I mean it's not even just that either, if you can prove that someone is a legitimate Nazi who actively calls for the deaths of innocent people then I think it's okay not to like that person but if you're going to start going around labeling the average Republican voter as a Nazi because they are Republican So you can have a reason to hate them that is legitimate then that's where the problem is.
I think it's fine to be intolerant of extremist behavior and ideologies but the issue arises when you start labeling anyone who opposes or even disagrees with your ideology as extremist.
But “legitimate Nazi” can mean anything. What if they don’t believe it anymore? Tweets can be faked and photos have AI so these ANTIFA can just make shit up. Labels are kinda pointless
Even after that, it’s still not tolerant. If they wanna be all high and mighty about it then they should stick to their guns, and be tolerant of every single other person or belief. They’re the ones who want to be that way.
Latinx isn't a slur, latinos fucking love slurs. It's something far worse I can't even describe, something so condescenting and obnoxious I fully understand why they're seething every time some internet imbecile uses that word
They seethe because it’s a libtard moral supremacists telling a bunch of poor brown ignorant brown people that they don’t know how to speak their own language
Libtards love going to other peoples countries and then telling them they’re backward and that they should have the same moral/cultural values as libtards without realizing all cultures have things they find acceptable/unacceptable. Libtards decide they know better than the ethics
They go to uganda to tell them they should allow homos for example
It's a new-age "pc" attempt to remove the inherent gender from a language that has been gendered for all of its known existence. The reason it feels so wrong (and is) is because it's an attempt to erase Latino heritage and history just to not potentially offend a few trains
You can be "conservative" and still not vote "Republican." Latin Americans are incredibly conservative, but most of them in the USA wouldn't vote Republican because they drink the corporate media Kool-aid that "Republicans are racist."
Maybe all this acting like nouveau-gender nonsense is totally the same as the struggles as racial minorities or gay people and you're a bigot if you dont think they are because radical medical transformation is the exact same as those will die down a little bit.
Hearing "latinx" and "birthing people" and "AMAB" for shit like birth control and dick doctors is so fucking annoying and helps no one
for a party that loves to scream about how bad colonisation, cultural appropriation and white washing is. they sure do love to take other peoples language and attempt to change it to what they see fit while disregarding the people of that culture’s opinion of it. ironic
I’ve never in my life heard the term “Latinx” said in real life. The irony here is living online to the point you believe left leaning people strictly say latinx all the time lol.
I've never met someone telling me their pronoums in real life, and yet every leftie politic has it on their social media.
Maybe things would be different if non retarded left leaning people, yeah those used to exists years ago, started to call out that bullshit instead of pandering in fear of being excluded.
You've allowed the crazies take the spotlight and call the shots, forcing regular left leaning people to either stfu or get shamed and thrown into the wellcoming arms of the right wing.
Ain't no one calling them Latinx anymore cause they just voted to get their asses deported. Jesus everyone voting against their own self interests to "own the libs." Ffs
Some misguided academic types decided latinx was a good idea because it's gender neutral (it's an ugly word and I hate it too, classic case of people who never go outside inventing an unpronounceable word because they don't talk to people)
Latinos/Latinas didn't like it
It didn't catch on - who the fuck still uses it? Has Kamala ever said it?
Trump built his campaign on mass deportation of 'illegals' but keeps calling legal migrants illegal, has extensive track record of racism, calls people coming over from Mexico rapists
Was close friend of Epstein, owned teen beauty pageants, known rapist, accused of raping 13 year old
Tried to overturn previous election because he was emotionally incapable of accepting the result, claimed he'd be dictator on day one, said people wouldn't have to vote again afterwards
"a nerd called me latinx 4 years ago so I'm voting for the worse candidate, take that white liberals!" - this guy
Turns out white liberals gave Trump the presidency by not bothering to vote, good luck America x
Most Latinos voted for Trump simply because they (like a lot of white people) don't understand what tariffs are and believed that Trump's economic policies would benefit them.
US is racist to its bone, and will find a way to add racism in one way or another every day in every outlet they can.... then pray to god to forgive their sins on Sunday. Then repeat the whole damn thing starting on Monday.
I thought everyone agreed Latinx was awful pretty quickly and moved on to using Latine for the gender neutral form. Where's still using Latinx unironically?
For the past 2 years I've been studying in the US most of the times people referred to me as Latinx are other students just trying to be polite when starting a conversation.
I never took it seriously but tbf most people refer to me as "Argentinian" and not as a "Latino".
The only time you'll hear it now is by people complaining about it. Same thing with the people whining about trans folks. They're just using a nonissue to rile people up.
I'm so confused by the backlash to a word I never saw anyone use except people being ironic on twitter. Were people actually dropping latinx-bombs in the real world?
In that case we must FORCE them to like it. If they don’t want to change their language to be more inclusive, we shall abuse them until they do. It is The White Man’s Burden to tame the noble savages, you see.
What exactly are the interests they voted against, exactly?
You do realize illegals can't vote, correct? Citizens aren't going to be deported lmao
If you'd ever actually met legal immigrants, you'd know they tend to hate illegals more than most American citizens. Why should they have to go through all the effort of immigrating properly and other people get to just skip all that?
This is such bad-faith bullshit. You know damn well which "bad hombres" this next administration is going to target, and you are fully on board without understanding what you signed up for
Only if their families are illegal? Why are you assuming enough Latin American immigrants have illegal family in the country that it is a population-wide issue?
The implication is that over zealous efforts of people associated with Kamala to "include" all latin american people is very badly taken by them. A lot of latinos I know absolutely hate the latinx thing and feel it is an imposition of white ivory tower intellectuals on them, that minimized their own language and identity and they prefer to have a openly racist guy to a condescending Indian woman. Both are perceived to be against their interest, but one is the evil you know, wheras the other pretends to be on your side but they think is not.
the reality is that Latinx had zero effect on the outcome, 4channers are just stupid morons who instantly think anything that happens is because of some bullshit they've been telling themselves for years anyway
The other could be worse, they do not know. IF your world is racist, electing another one is not so bad. Electing a deceitful manipulative liar however.. That is the point. It is also not my opinion, just describing what latinx causes in the head of many people.
A good part of Central and south america, specially the people that migrate to the USA, are conservative, so in all honestly its not that hard to understand that so many people voted red, its not more only because the conservative party really hates them
But also, latinos that have lived in usa 1 or more generations probably think of themself more american than latine, so they probably disasociate the discurse against illegal inmigrants from themself
I’m Latino, I hate that word, I pronounce it as latinks. It should never be used. That aside I’m not a fan of trump but I will agree the dem party abandoned the working class like alot of other people have been saying
Choosing to give up your rights & face deportation because checks notes one side says mean words, less than the side you chose but still :(.
And here I thought it was the left that were the snowflakes.
What percentage of Latinos in America exactly do you think is facing deportation right now, throw out a number so I can laugh at you in one of like 4 different possible ways
Look, I’m progressive (I know, fuckin normie interacting with 4chan via Reddit), but anytime I’ve tried to explain to people that picking a gender neutral term to refer to the Latino community when Spanish is inherently gendered is a bizarre take, the whitest people you can imagine would look at me like I was crazy. Performative progressivism is a freaking disease holding meaningful progress back. Electing a literal fascist isn’t the answer, but I guess some lessons need to be learned the hard way.
To any native speaker of Soanish, it is essentially a slur. You intentionally are using a word to define a person that doesn't exist with the intent to not use the words already formed by the language.
Nobody asked for it. It’s insulting to the language because it’s SUPPOSED to be a gendered language. It’s left wing people with savior complexes that invented and promote the use of latinx, not knowing probably 90%+ of latinos hate it
Has anyone used Latinx in years... My wife is extremely progress and in the know about this shit, I remember like 3 or 4 years ago her telling me they don't like that phrase so it's been removed from tolerance type vocabulary... I've not heard anyone use it in years IDK where you're from that they do.

cosplay-degenerate@reddit
Why does Latinx annoy them? I get that it looks and sounds cringe but is there more to it?
AdmiralTigelle@reddit
Pearl_Marina@reddit
when I came to canada, i remember my teacher intentionally butchering my mother's chinese name when pronouncing it and proceeded to argue with me, claiming I was in the wrong. cosplay-degenerate@reddit

bulkasmakom@reddit
There was and is a word for Latino people - Latino
cosplay-degenerate@reddit
Ok then how did the other word become a thing over Latino?
nnnnnnnnnnuria@reddit
In spanish every noun has a gender. If a group has both genders, the default is male. So if you have a group of women and men latin people, they are "latino". Americans didnt like it and changed it to a "neutral" term of latinx. Latinx cant be pronounced in spanish. So it is a mn american problem bc they dont understand the gendered languages, and an american solution only valid for americans
QuintanaBowler@reddit
But what is the "x" supposed to stand for?
nnnnnnnnnnuria@reddit
-o is male, -a is female. -x doesnt exist, I suppose is the middle ground between -o and -a.
serpienteroja@reddit
There is a middle ground which can be easily pronounced. I live in Mexico and those of us who aren't assholes use "e" to make phrases gender inclusive. For example: "Buenas tardes todes". The language does default to masculine when speaking to mixed groups of people (10 women and 1 man) which kinda seems unfair. Sometimes I just like defaulting to feminine just to fuck with men who have obvious frail masculinity. Buenas tardes todas.
davesg@reddit
I prefer to be greeted as "Buenas tardes a todas" instead of "todes". That's horrible.
serpienteroja@reddit
And that is cool, won't stop me from using what is widely accepted by locally marginalized social groups as acceptable.
Inflacion_@reddit
I'm gonna lower the bar, and just say. Buenas tardes, chupapijas.
nnnnnnnnnnuria@reddit
Which makes it even more infuriating. They didnt bother asking any spanish speaking person because the -e for neutral was really extended before they decided -x is the neutral sufix.
__El_Presidente__@reddit
They could at least have gone with "latine" but nooo it wasn't enough to paternalize and entire group of people in trying to solve a non-issue, they had to anglify the "solution" too.
davesg@reddit
Latine is awful as well. Please, don't.
TheModernDaVinci@reddit
I also heard some of them argue Latino is no good because it “defaults male as normal” and therefore “reinforces patriarchy”.

Hot-Masterpiece9209@reddit
I doubt it wasn't Latino people who came up with it.
BotAccount2849@reddit
The only latinos who would've came up with it are those who have no cultural connection beyond being the same race.
king_of_the_potato_p@reddit
Well
Latin is a gendered language, Latino and Latina literally both mean latin, not their gender.....
IsNotAnOstrich@reddit
You might be surprised to learn "Latino people" aren't a monolith. I don't know who came up with it, but if they were just 1 latino person, that doesn't mean the rest have to be on board.

Because the Left was trying to “fix” other people’s language while also not knowing a damn thing about it. You can’t actually pronounce “Latinx” in Spanish, the closest you can get is “Latin X.”
cosplay-degenerate@reddit
Why did Latino need fixing? Because of the o as masculine?
Ill_Guess1549@reddit
because of their progressive gender theory they refuse to use gendered pronoun so they went with latinx probably.
and also the latin america aka south america is as vast and diverse as europe so they probably don't wanna be bundled into a single monolithic demography. they all have their own history and problems that are sometimes at odds with other latinx.
QuintanaBowler@reddit
So no one really was offended by the established term, but white liberals decided to be offended instead of them?
TheFoxyDanceHut@reddit
Gendered language was (is) a huge problem for progressives, so while trying to get rid of phrases like "hey guys" they also went to change Spanish so that transgender Latin Americans feel more comfortable (?)

Halcyon_156@reddit
My mother is from Mexico (half German but born/raised in Mexico), speaks fluent Spanish, lived in Mexico until late childhood, etc. I had never even heard this term until the other night my gf used it and I was like "what the fuck is that supposed to mean?" Latinos are a proud people and inventing some kind of progressive term for them was a solution to a problem that did not exist and shows a complete disconnect with their culture.
trilobot@reddit
This is pretty normal for languages.

TNTyoshi@reddit

ImmaSuckYoDick2@reddit
Racism of lowered expectations. The modern left in most of the West has basically modernized the concept of "the White man's burden" in that they know what's best for minorities and believe their way is the only right way and any minority who doesn't agree is either uneducated, stupid, or a house n***er in the case of black Americans. That's what they called Clarence Thomas for his position on Roe v Wade.
TNTyoshi@reddit

I wouldn’t say more hateful. I’d just say that both the left and right hate in their own way. The left tends to virtue signal and look down on minorities. There’s generally a lot of suppressed racism. If they don’t like you they don’t tell it to your face.
Right-leaning people tell it to your face but they also try to actively reinforce or promote racism. That’s why right-wing politics is usually associated with racism.

From my experience IRL, leftists are way more hateful than right wingers.
oplosan@reddit
as someone looking from outside, I'd say both sides are nasty in their own way, but at least the right are aware that they are a bunch of assholes, while the left are horrible hypocrites.
Ecstatic-Compote-595@reddit
actually not saying the n word at them is more racist
Swiper_The_Sniper@reddit
Hot take, its the people who act like they’re so “politically correct” IRL who are the most racist to people they don’t like (In general, at least).

Octimusocti@reddit
Just a head up, lol. Latinoamerican means the same as Latino, latin-speaking born in the continent of America
ZombieSurvivor365@reddit
Forreal? So would the right term be Hispanic-American I assume?
TNTspaz@reddit
I want him to somehow magically create a legit screening process and sped up the legal immigration process. And only deport people who actually need to be deported.
Just to see how these people would react
ignitethegonzo@reddit
*illegal immigrants
ZombieSurvivor365@reddit
Those comments right there are full of people who want police to racially profile and to kick out legal immigrants mistaken as illegal immigrants. They want Latino republicans to be put in “immigrant camps” because that’s what they expect from Trump. They want them to suffer so they’re proven right.
DontrentWNC@reddit
They don't want to, they just know it's going to happen. Just like they didn't want abortion bans, but they knew women would die from them and they have.
The results of these policies are easy to predict. If the Trump administration starts going neighborhood to neighborhood to deport illegal immigrants, legal people will be caught in the crossfire. It's inevitable.
PeterFechter@reddit
Can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs.
ZombieSurvivor365@reddit
Knowing the government — they’d probably fuck up and kick some legal people out. Best-case scenario is detain them while they spend a week trying to confirm their citizenship status.
BeefBagsBaby@reddit
That'll be pretty terrible for the people swept up in it. I won't be swept up in of course. I think one of the main questions about the 'mass deportations' is the logistics of it. It'll take a massive amount of spending and hiring to put together a team to deport millions of people... I don't think they'll be able to handle it, and I bet that a lot of shady grifters will get in on it.
14domino@reddit
No we don’t dumbass. I’m a Latino male who voted for Harris. I think if a lot of illegal immigrants get deported it is a certainty that many legal immigrants will also get deported whether mistakenly or on purpose.

why would people not want a president to do exactly what they elected him to do?
ShinyGrezz@reddit
The entire point of building a coalition of voter groups is that you offer positives to each one, so to have that thrown back at you and an obviously worse choice picked is gonna sting. Not exactly sure why everyone in this post is expecting the Dems to keep scurrying after Latino voters when they were clearly told in this election that whatever they offer means jack shit, and they’d rather have the party that characterises them as criminals, rapists, and “garbage”.
SantaArriata@reddit
Minorities already knew that. If you’ve never noticed, most changes in language or policy are done without consulting the actual people, which just comes off as condescending.
The reason why many Latinos hate Latinx isn’t because they hate trans people, but because it was white people screaming about a language they don’t speak and demanding it be changed because they don’t agree with it

TMWNN@reddit
I saw a great quote along these lines: "every time a woke white HR lady uses Latinx in her commitment-to-DEI email, two Hispanics turn Republican"

I'm not sure they guy who said he's going to be a dictator on day one and that we have "bad genes" in our country will care much about whether or not you're an actual citizen. ATastySpoon@reddit
Every portion of our government is republican, Trump plans on replacing all of those in significant positions of power with Trump loyalists, and one of his primary goals is to concentrate power in the executive branch. Link? I know I've seen posts about people that aren't going to be surprised when their parents get deported under the Trump presidency they voted for, but I haven't seen people being excited for mass deportation under Trump unless they voted for Trump without understanding what it meant.
iamck94@reddit
I saw a ULPT post where they were calling to deport family members and friends of Trump supporters because “that’s what they voted for so they deserve it”. Not even Trump supporters, but innocent people that may have been pro-Kamala.
I cannot fathom how you can hate Trump’s policies for what they are but then somehow convince yourself it’s okay to take advantage of those policies to punish innocent people because they happen to be related to someone that voted for Trump. This is like saying “punish Hitler supporters by reporting their Jewish family members to the Gestapo”.
ButtersTG@reddit
I feel like the fact that these were posts from UnethicalLPT, is important context, I saw comments and posts about how these could be bots, so take it with a grain of salt I guess.
I know that it's either a location thing, where people closer to the border may feel this way because it's directly relevant to what they probably see every day already, or it's meming, or it could be just some initial lashing out by people who are rather upset because they know the extent of what another Trump term means. I'd say that it's really hard to say just how wide spread these feelings are in the "liberal-leaning" community as a whole.
Either way, I'd avoid using terminology as, "Post after post," to describe seeing a couple on ULPT that may not even hit the front page of the Reddit echo chamber which is not the majority of the voters' at large as many users that also point out this small population of hypocrisy have already pointed out, gladly I might add.

inventingnothing@reddit
Typical leftist logic.
Peanut was doing no harm, and some leftist reported him to Animal Services to get revenge on someone with conservative values.
Nah, while it may follow the letter of the law, I wholly disagree with using the law as an act of so-called revenge.
Fallingice2@reddit
It's like the end of saving Private Ryan, but there's no plane to blow up the tank.
inventingnothing@reddit

TTrainN2024@reddit
Lets not get that far... There is a reason I voted Trump. Sometimes you gotta play their games to get the upper hand.
inventingnothing@reddit
There's a difference.
TTrainN2024@reddit
Only if you are breaking the law.
notfree25@reddit
something something, his civic duty to report crime that apparently is a big concern to majority of American
Fallingice2@reddit
Its now his right...what else does a leftist have? Courts, congress and executive branch are fully in trumps pockets. He can literally do what ever he wants. He wants lower rates? Do it or you get fired. Doesn't like a department? He can close it and fire everyone. I don't think you understand how total this victory is for trump. I'll be fine here but if things get really bad, I have Canadian residency and a high income skill set. Until then I'm just going to sit back and watch.
core_krogoth@reddit
So you're just not reading the ill intent behind their actions at all are you?
Fallingice2@reddit
Does it matter? Hurt people hurt people. People are going to get Back however they can. This election showed them that being nice being ethical or truthful or whatever doesn't get results. I'll be fine but I'm going to just sit back and watch what happens over these next 4 years. It's going to be nice to see everyone removed from the FDA and EPA and when we can trust the food we eat or the medicine we take or order we drink because it's filled with plastic. This is what I would call a total victory for conservatives, I hope they get 8 years.

Bias_K@reddit
Was that his morals? I guess I'm left leaning, and I have no real issue with deportation of illegal immigrants, not the desire of a country to have strict control of who is allowed to enter.
vapenutz@reddit
I'm a European leftist and if someone came here illegally they should go back where they came from. Easy as.
If we don't have control over who comes and leaves we don't have control over what's going on, we don't have Schengen, we don't have free movement (everybody will impose their own border checks which will make things take longer and stuff will be more expensive) and we'd have to expand our border security forces GREATLY.
Once illegal immigrants started coming by Belarus thanks to Lukashenko and Putin we built a fucking wall.

leviathan235@reddit
If you think about it, it’s just more white colonialism trying to suppress/supersede minority culture again. Latinos don’t believe in the gender spectrum dogshit that white people made up, which is the basis of the latinx slur in the first place.

Offline, most Latinos that grew up in Latin America don't use it but the second-fourth generation American "Latinos" absolutely use it all the time.

Sad to see the "tolerant left" asking about ways to deport people they know voted for Trump.
Absolute scumbags, inquisitors and bullies.
fuckitymcfuckfacejr@reddit
Trump... ran on the platform of deporting immigrants. Isn't this exactly what you wanted? I don't understand. They're literally cooperating with your administration's objective. Or are they just doing it to the wrong people?
bamadeo@reddit
he differentiated between legals and illegals.
fuckitymcfuckfacejr@reddit
So did the person in the initial post. Parents of a legal citizen were here illegally. He wanted to deport them. Again, literally Trump's platform. You really shouldn't just go along with other comments here. It makes you look as if you lack reading comprehension.
bamadeo@reddit
I don't really care if people here think I lack reading comprehension.
Point being made is that if you're so much in favour of inmigrants, saying 'oh now that you voted against your own class interests, go fuck yourselves', shows the reality that it was all moral posturing from the self anointed "good guys".
If you really care for them, you double down and go understand why is it that they're not aligned.
fuckitymcfuckfacejr@reddit
I think you're just looking for reasons to be mad. The dems are falling in line with your guy. They're going along with what this country apparently wants and you're still complaining about it. Kind of feels like you just want to be upset, man
bamadeo@reddit
He's not my guy, I'm not even American.
It's not a complaint - it's a tip: people see through moral posturing.
Helihope@reddit
Are you incapable of understanding the difference between an illegal alien and a legal immigrant?
MarinLlwyd@reddit
Some Americans just don't see a difference.
Bias_K@reddit
Are you unaware that the Trump administration is going to change the qualifications of legal immigration, retroactively?
dialgatrack@reddit
Are you unaware that there are hispanic families that came to the US legally? Why do you believe that every brown person benefited off illegal immigration?
Bias_K@reddit
Not even remotely sure how you got that out of what I said, but as you are clearly illiterate or disabled, let me try and lay it out for you a little more clearly.
The Trump administration is not concerned with how someone arrived in the US. Whether they did so legally or not. They plan to change the process of legal immigration, and use the new laws and definitions to also go after those who currently have legal status through means they don't like.
dialgatrack@reddit
lmao. absolutely delusional, I can't believe they let people like you vote.
Bias_K@reddit
Ironic, considering you are apparently not informed about the policies of the candidate you voted for.

More or less, it has. Did you miss the whole:

dialgatrack@reddit
And in what way does this entail deporting brown people because they are brown and we hate them in any shape or form?
Bias_K@reddit
Once again, never once used or insinuated anything about brown people, nor hatred. Just telling you the already self stated policies of Trump and his cabinet to-be.
You seem to be imaging argument points that aren't there.
dialgatrack@reddit
So zero specifics is what you have? What can we even discuss then?

What I am pointing out here is the hypocrisy. Sorry if I did not spell it correctly, English is not my native language.
They built their whole political persona around tue concept of tolerance... Towards the ones who cooperate, it seems.
IAmTeemo@reddit
How is that hypocritical though? One can be tolerant of someone else's distinct views and lifestyle choices without needing to support criminal activity. Being tolerant isn't some huge blanket that lets people just do whatever they want.

They don’t believe that Trump will actually engage in recategorizing legal immigrants, mass deportation, and deportations camps. It’s coming.
bobby_hills_fruitpie@reddit
Stephen Miller just tweeted that they have a 'denaturalization plan' and are going to 'turbocharge' it. Lmao, these people are trying to act like they're the saviors of immigrants when they just elected a guy who doesn't care if they're here legally or not, so long as they look the part of 'somebody who should be deported'.
ntrpik@reddit
That’s why they singled out and attacked LEGAL Haitian immigrants with lies and hatred.
amazorman@reddit
They are only legal because they were fast tracked in. The Biden administration was literally shipping immigrants in, giving them living and housing stipends . This was done with no votes, notice or permissions to the townsfolk of many municipalities. This spits on the face on immigrants that came in via processes, that they had to prove literacy, get vaccinations' and proof of financial stability to even get a visa to visit. Sorry they got to go.

TheOneWhoSlurms@reddit
Understanding someone you don't agree with is a pretty big virtue that they don't seem to have
Free-Design-8329@reddit
They’re modern day puritans really. They aren’t religious but the absolute blind devotion to moral compass is the same
0hryeon@reddit
I mean in all fairness, I was always stuck in that too.
Like, isn’t ANTIFA pretty un-tolerant? Like if they care so much about other people they should be looking out for everyone, Nazi’s and facists alike.
Do they not even see the hypocrisy?
TheOneWhoSlurms@reddit
I mean it's not even just that either, if you can prove that someone is a legitimate Nazi who actively calls for the deaths of innocent people then I think it's okay not to like that person but if you're going to start going around labeling the average Republican voter as a Nazi because they are Republican So you can have a reason to hate them that is legitimate then that's where the problem is.
I think it's fine to be intolerant of extremist behavior and ideologies but the issue arises when you start labeling anyone who opposes or even disagrees with your ideology as extremist.
0hryeon@reddit
But “legitimate Nazi” can mean anything. What if they don’t believe it anymore? Tweets can be faked and photos have AI so these ANTIFA can just make shit up. Labels are kinda pointless
Even after that, it’s still not tolerant. If they wanna be all high and mighty about it then they should stick to their guns, and be tolerant of every single other person or belief. They’re the ones who want to be that way.
TheOneWhoSlurms@reddit
Some Greek philosopher said something or other about being intolerant of the intolerant.

They go to uganda to tell them they should allow homos for example
home_rolled@reddit
It's a new-age "pc" attempt to remove the inherent gender from a language that has been gendered for all of its known existence. The reason it feels so wrong (and is) is because it's an attempt to erase Latino heritage and history just to not potentially offend a few trains

A good part of Central and south america, specially the people that migrate to the USA, are conservative, so in all honestly its not that hard to understand that so many people voted red, its not more only because the conservative party really hates them
