What time do we think 9800x3d comes out?

Yes yes I can’t wait for the well deserved “how are we supposed to know” comments but for real I’ve been waiting for this for a month so bear with me please.
Has anyone had experiences with releases like this before? I heard they happen at midnight but is that midnight EST or just based on your local time?
Any info, even speculation, is much appreciated.
JeepinJon85@reddit
I'm here and waiting. AMDs website doesn't have it posted yet. Maybe it'll drop when the stock market opens for the day?
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
I didn’t even realize you could buy straight from the AMD website, that’s cool. It releases at 6am PST for NewEgg so that stock-market-opening timing actually checks out
JeepinJon85@reddit
Thanks for the heads up! This is my first PC build and the only piece I'm missing is the CPU. It was all built with either the 7800x3d or this new one in mind. Fingers crossed a nab one!
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
That’s awesome, congrats man! I actually bought a 7800x3d like 3 weeks ago for $478 just for this new one to come out at msrp for the same price. Now I’m just waiting with an unopened 7800x3d juuuuust in case I don’t order fast enough this time around😂
JeepinJon85@reddit
I feel that. The battle was that when I started the build, the 7800x3d was at $350. Now sitting steady at $476 it is hard to choke down that price. The MSPR has fluctuated between $430-$450 on AMDs website. I almost just pulled the trigger but I knew this was coming out and I either wanted to grab this one, or let it drive down the MSRP and demand for the 7800x3d
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Smart man, yeah I don’t have patience unfortunately and honestly waiting these 3 weeks was enough for me, any longer I might’ve just bit the bullet on the 7800x3d.
I even thought of waiting for the 5000 series of GPUs but I’m done with all the waiting. Hopefully we snag these 9800x3ds they seem so sweet…. At the same time I’m worried because they are so sweet.
I called my local Best Buy and without realizing it it routed me to their virtual customer service and I asked if she knew when it would be in stock and she said “I don’t unfortunately, but I’ll tell you what, we’ve been getting a ton of calls about it today”… safe to say I am now worried😂
JeepinJon85@reddit
Nabbed one just now at msrp from Amazon. They've been in and out of stock all day. Got it for $479 shipped and sold by Amazon from AMD so I know it isn't fake
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Whaaaaat??? I bought mine and have it on order as “We will email you with an estimated delivery date”… I got my order in 8 hours ago smh
JeepinJon85@reddit
Estimated delivery is the 11th for me. Where'd you buy from?
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Oh wait it says “supplied by other”… WHAAAAAAT😭
JeepinJon85@reddit
Noooooooo. Let me see if I can find one
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
I appreciate the help man I’m hoping something comes along so I’m not in the Amazon “We will email you when we receive an estimated delivery date” limbo :/ Did you have like a notification software up or something?
JeepinJon85@reddit
Nope. I raw dogged it. This morning was a flop for me. I actually got all the way through checkout on AMDs website and then it said sold out. This afternoon I was on the phone with a buddy and he happened to check Amazon and said it was available at $479. He said he bought it for me and I'll pay him when we do brunch on Sunday. It was just a fluke ordeal
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Dude that’s so sick! I’m bummed I missed out so far but man that’s awesome you got one locked in🙌 What’s the final build you’re going for?
I just got a notification saying “back in stock” from NewEgg while typing this post, clicked on it immediately, and it already said sold out😭
JeepinJon85@reddit
I have an Asus 7900GRE Steel legends GPU 32x2 DDR5 Ram (klevv cras?) Samsung 990 Pro 2TB SSD Asus rog strix 650-a MB Asus Rog Strix 360mm CPU cooler Asus Prime 850w PSU Got some Asus fans and shit like that. Also grabbed a new headset and PS5 controller.
All will be in a Thermaltake e660 case so that I can ghost vertical mount the GPU and all of its RGBs. I'm a little skeptical on my Ram brand but the reviews seemed to rival that of Corsair.
I'll keep an eye out for more 7900x3d. I'll buy one if I find it at MSRP and I'll shoot you a PM.
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Hey man that’s a sick build! 9800x3d is gonna tie that together nicely!
And thanks for the help I really appreciate it! Yeah just lmk and ilyk if I find one too🙌
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
California, bought it from Amazon from AMD like you
JeepinJon85@reddit
I missed it by less than a minute. Got all the way through checkout and when I "confirmed" it, it said stock was too low. How'd you do?
Ninjacreed9511@reddit
Aw no I'm raging, thanks very much for the update though I appreciate that. Looks like I'll be buying a non X3D then I'm moving from a 7700k so at least no matter what am5 processor I get it'll be a night and day difference, I hope you'll be in a similar situation.
Ninjacreed9511@reddit
Does anyone have any idea of the release time on Amazon ?
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Sold out already man sorry. It apparently released early on NewEgg too for some people and for others (myself included) it did not.
darren713@reddit
It’s 0920 in the UK and all of our sites over here doesn’t have it listed yet for what I can see at least
Permethious@reddit
Directly from scan customer support:
"Please be advised. The AMD 9800 X3D CPU will be released on November 7th 2024. Listings will be added to the website as embargos lift, but due to the NDA we are unable to confirm the release time. Please continue to check the website for the BUY button, which will be enabled when officially launched."
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
I think it’s gonna be now since that’s when Newegg has it confirmed
PurposeAnalyzer@reddit
Saw it on Newegg at 855est for MSRP and $22 for next day shipping, was hoping Amazon was going to have the same...but alas they did not, ordered on Amazon and won't be here until November 22 wtf 😒
Ninjacreed9511@reddit
This wait is getting pretty painful. Still yet to be released on Amazon UK (I'm in Ireland) will keep you all updated.
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
I think it’s going to release in the next 4 minutes
Ninjacreed9511@reddit
Watching the hell out of the clock at this point !
pukarock@reddit
Preordered via overclockers, but seems it will arrive mid-late week starting 11/11/24
TheRoamingWeeb@reddit
Don’t mean to be a bother but 6am what time zone?
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
PST, it’s actually listed on NewEgg right now (not available yet but it’s there!)
TheRoamingWeeb@reddit
Tysm! I’m trying to get mine from Best Buy; best of luck to you!
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Thanks, you too! I’ve also heard sometimes they release at midnight so I’m gonna stay up until then from now and keep checking and then check tomorrow morning and then check in store tomorrow if that all doesn’t work😂
soyemilio@reddit
Bestbuy already shows it like sold out, sad
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Really? Best Buy doesn’t even show it as listed for me, or are you trying to weed out the other buyers?😂
Unlucky-Ad-9520@reddit
It’s still not out yet
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Just woke up and am waiting for the refresh

As someone outside the US, I wish we had a solid time as we don't really have a dedicated tech store that will get them in, in the same way Microcenter would.
hitsujiTMO@reddit
It doesn't fucking matter.
It's not software, it doesn't have to wait for a specific time.
It will ship when vendors has stock.
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
I just want to make sure I get my order in, is that crazy or am I missing something here
hitsujiTMO@reddit
A single enthusiast flagship CPU isn't going to sell out immediately after it's siblings have already been out.
With Nvidia launches, they sell out immediately because people can't wait even when a slightly lower sku is coming out and they just can't wait.
With AMD, they aren't selling flagships first, so you're not stuck with a situation where the guy who wanted a 9700x or 9900x has to settle with a 9800x3d because that's what's released.
Whereas Nvidia will happily sell the 5090 before selling the 5070 or 5080, because there is a cohort that will buy the 5090, even though it's twice the price because the 5080 launch date is 30 days later even if the 5080 is half the price.
So you're not competing with a cohort that has to misbuy a CPU because the actual one they want to buy is coming out 2 months later.
neo6289@reddit
What you describe makes no sense. But you seem unable to consider anything you don't already "know" and certainly won;t admit being wrong so whatever.
-WallyWest-@reddit
Yeah, you're saying that, but when I bought my 5900X, there wasn't any stock at all for a month, and I was stuck with no computer.
hitsujiTMO@reddit
That's going to depend on your locality. I've never seen a situation where it a high end AMD CPU is out of stock for more than a week with exceptions to the X950x CPUs.
Strazdas1@reddit
But thats kinda the whole point. Is a new CPU really something that you cannot wait an extra week for? I just cant comprehend how is that an issue.
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Well in that case I’d prefer to buy it at MSRP instead of having it potentially go out of stock and then shoot up to 150% msrp like the 7800x3d did.
I literally have an unopened 7800x3d I bought for $478 like 2-3 weeks ago right before/around I found out about the 9800x3d so yeah just trying to avoid having to stick with this lol
Retired_Slave_@reddit
this is just moronic. the 7800x3d was so popular that even as of a few months ago it was getting scalped and sold for +50% retail. with as well reviewed as this thing has been there is definitely a chance that it could fall out of stock, so finding out the time it releases to get your order in fast makes sense. don't talk about things when you are this off the mark
Alamandaros@reddit
To add to that, there's a sizeable group (myself included) who have had to put off buying a new CPU for the past few months because we wanted a 7800X3D, but couldn't find one either due to no stock or mark-ups.
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Got it got it, that makes sense. Thank you for the information! I’ve just been out of the PC building game for like 6-7 years and heard all the mess with things going out of stock beforehand so didn’t know if I needed to be so diligent or not in making sure I put an order in asap.
Retired_Slave_@reddit
your gut was more on the mark than the schizo who replied to you. pc parts can still fall out of stock, and his comparison about people who are in the market for the 9800x3d are also looking at ryzen 9000 is braindead. anyone who was indifferent about either would already have bought a 9700. people waiting for this chip specifically aren't interested in normal ryzen 9000 because the gaming performance of them is ass compared to the 9800x3d, they are completely different bases.
don't let brainlets like them talk down to you for asking a fair question
Strazdas1@reddit
It is crazy. But no more crazy than the people who wait overnight for launch of an iphone. I will never understand why a person would do something like that, but to some thats how their brain operates.
SimpleNovelty@reddit
That's going to be vendor specific and not really what this sub is for.
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
I could see that, but also I feel like the timing of when a piece of hardware drops counts as hardware news. Either way agree to disagree and I appreciate your feedback.
I also feel like the hardware subreddit would include people (not all of them) who are diehards on getting the newest hardware and might have some insight on drop times.
therealjustin@reddit
I'm impatiently waiting for the drop too. I think I'll go with either Best Buy or Newegg if I can snag one.
9am eastern is what I'm seeing too.
Clay-mo@reddit
The microcenter by me opens at 10a.m
Artistic_Friend_9921@reddit
do they do bundles for new CPUs? Like discount with a new motherboard + RAM
Severe-Alarm8697@reddit
Canada Computers here in Canada (really? Not Bulgaria?) is offering a few bundles with x870 mobos and 32G of ram for 1100ish CAD. They all show as "sold out" on the company website, but I'm guessing that's until the listing goes live? Could they actually have sold out already? Dunno. But yes, bundles.
Clay-mo@reddit
Idk I've never bought a brand new CPU on release day there before. My assumption would be no, anyone coming in to buy a release day product is going to buy it regardless of if there's a bundle price or not, so why offer them a discount?
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Yeah and the Best Buy by me opens at 10am, but I meant like online
gimik123@reddit
I'm waiting for B&H . Newegg says 6am pst. I'll sometimes use hotstock io or nowinstock, but I dont think it will get that bad, but who knows.
Bitter-Light-2223@reddit (OP)
Thank you for the info man I appreciate it!
