Windows Server downgraded to Windows 7 Pro, HELP!
Posted by sarge-m@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 10 comments
Hi all,
Both of our Windows Server 2019 running AD DS downgraded to Windows 7 Pro. We have lost all critical roles such as AD DS and RDS. Do we contact Microsoft support, perform an exorcism, or roll back to an update from 3 years ago?
Appreciate any insight, thank you!

What you will need to do is upgrade to windows 8.1, then upgrade that to windows 10. Then after the upgrade, do a clean install of 10 and then a second time.
This is because 10 + 10 20 and 8 + 1 + 10 is 19.
Then because you have server the computer so many time it will turn into Windows Server 2019.

I cannot thank you enough, this actually worked! We’re finally back on Ubuntu 19.04!

This hit close to home. There’s a tech in my department who swears he reimaged windows 7 machines to windows 10, reinstalled all the apps and copied over the files etc and next day came back and they were windows 7 with all their stuff on it joined to domain and everything. I still don’t believe it.

I would agree with this.
