That’s dope. Is there any civilian ownwership of these through destructive device NFA items or is that just not possible? This would be a grail gun for me if it’s possible. Up until I knew about this a m82a1 .50 cal with a can was my grail gun. Since I’m in Cali it would have to be the .416 version and no suppressor though. But a man can dream
There were a couple high profile incidents in the 1990’s like a gun wacko killing a cop with a .50 cal in a Denver suburb, the Branch Dividians in Waco having one and the FBI busting up a conspiracy by Islamic terrorists to shoot down an airliner with one that the fever pitch to ban then… I don’t recall the gun wack jobs actually caring too much because not many people had them in the first place…
If I recall it never left prototype production especially since it's meant to take out armored vehicles so civilian sales might be a no go unless you 'know a guy' but I don't advise anything like that
I loved that rifle in mw19. I added a thermal sight, long barrel, suppressor and explosive rounds. That thing was monstrous and aiming down the sights took me forever lol. But it was very fun to use.
As the owner of 2 customer built airsoft replicas of the XM109 (one in a DeWalt paint job), I can assure you that not everyone has forgotten the 25mm Payload Rifle.
It's hedp with roughly 50mm of penetration at any range. It's rather slow, but the drop itself would be handled by the ballistic computer. I don't know about the dispersion though.
25mil HEAT or is it “HEGP”? I really want to know the volatility, weight and armor pen. I wonder how it compares to good ol .50 and say a 20mm “rifle” system.
18 caliber barrel length. Not to shabby if you want to yeet this round with acceptable recoil. Just look how tiny that compartment for powder is compared to the width.
Probably can't put more high density powder in it and still have it safe if some dirt is on the round and reduces bullet jump, etc.
Yep. Basically grew up there as my dad was an engineer with ARDEC. Interesting place. Founded in 1880 as a powder depot and actually produced powder until after WWI when they also started to manufacture munitions (and had several explosions over the years so whole swaths of the base are fenced off because of unexploded ordinance).

Did california ban .50 cal ammo?
Grizzlygrant238@reddit
.50 cal not illegal, but 50 BMG specifically is illegal .
But 50 cal still exists in CA in the form of 50 beowulf, 50 AE , 500 s&w mag and so on .
bmbreath@reddit
Huh. Is that the inky state that has that law?
And was there some "incident" that sparked a reactionary law to get rid of 50bmg?

You have me thinking about miniaturized munitions now.
Something like this or the QLU-11/LG5 but firing tiny HESH or HEAT rounds for taking on lighter or obsolete armour

For a 25mm yeet cannon, that barrel looks awfully short.

It was a fairly low velocity round, somewhat like a more powerful version of the XM25’s. It only needed a short barrel
