hi all! nervous first-time PC upgrader here. have had this pc since 2017 & have finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade! the new GPU + ram arrived yesterday and my roommate has a 600W PSU to upgrade (from 500W.)
my current card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
current processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
motherboard: STRIX B250H Gaming
i upgraded the BIOS last night to the most recent stable version for my motherboard (1205)
my new GPU is MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 15 Gbps GDRR6 192-bit , and i'm upgrading my RAM-- currently have 16GB installed on 2 8GB sticks but i have 4 slots & 4 16GB sticks to install.
is there anything else i need to do to prepare before getting into the guts of this thing? drivers, etc? please explain it to me in the simplest way possible. i'm feeling pretty confident about my choices but i have a nervous disposition so i can't help but worry, haha.
