Help with dual boot Win 11 + Ubuntu Server

I'm teaching myself linux system administration. I have a laptop with Windows 11 Home that I'd like to try dual booting between Win Home 11 and Ubuntu Server (no desktop).
I'm having a hard time figuring out what I am doing wrong and can't get passed the volume section part when installing Ubuntu Server. here are some screen grabs of what im doing https://imgur.com/a/Ap875GT
I made a bootable USB using Rufus on windows.
In windows I created an unallocated 8GB space. I notice it doesn't appear in Ubuntu Server install if I don't set it up as RAW at least.
I've tried googling so many different resources but none of them seem to be up to date or about my specific setup.

you are far far better doing this as a VM (hyper-v or similar)

That sounds like me, engaging in a fools game. 😂
OK. Then I’ll do a second round of research to figure out why my windows laptop keeps going into Modern Standby and knocking my VM of Ubuntu offline.

I mean if you dual boot yous still have the problem, cause 1 os is always offline
Yea hybrid sleep is effectively hibernate so chances are high it's sleeping the VM too
Why does the VM need to be online all the time?

I’d like to run a web server 24/7 as a homelab project. I already do but in a VM that’s getting knocked offline when the laptop goes to sleep.
I’ve tried making sure the laptop is in high power mode. Oddly enough last night it didn’t go into sleep mode. I’ll see if it does it again tonight. And yes I did set a plugged in power mode to never go to sleep.

separately I believe you have to disable hibernation mode, rather than in power management, or you have to clone the high power profile, so you can edit the hidden settings, its been a while so not 100% sure
