Looking to install an old SSD into a new PC. Can I use an old SATA cable?

The SSD I want to install is from an old PC build I used years ago with a different PSU. I recall reading in the past that PSU cables are not interchangeable, so I looked around my home and found a cable for my current PSU that connects from the PSU to the SSD. My current concern is the cable that connects from the SSD to the motherboard. Do I have to buy a new one, or can I use the one I was using in the old build?

if the sata data cable is 6gb/s, not 3 gb/s, you can use it

After looking at the cable, it does appear to have the text "6Gbps" on it, so I will assume that it will work.

There's no such thing, as far as I'm aware. SATA is SATA. But older cables are more likely to lack the retention clip.

I've seen some cables labelled 3gb/s, although they may be from before 6gb/s and may work fine at that speed. I dont know, i bet ymmv. maybe they use really really crap wires.

as long as it's not broken, it should work.
seat it and unseat it a few times to make sure it has a good electrical connection.

The sata data cables are a standard part, those are fine to reuse.
The power cables from modular PSUs are not.
