Which one to choose from RTX 4070 Ti Super 16 GB but on PCIe.Gen4 or Wait for RTX 5070 12GB but on PCIe.Gen5 ?

I have AM5 setup PCIe.Gen5
CPU - 7800X3D - Gen5 supported
RAM - DDR5 6000Mhz
MOBO - Asus B650E-I Gen5 supported
SSD - Crucial T700 Gen5 supported
I am looking to upgrade my GPU RTX 2070 Super to accommodate newer games and future games for 4-5years.
I mainly play on 1080p which I am very much comfortable. Option that I have are
RTX 4070 Ti Super 16 GB but on PCIe.Gen4
or Wait for RTX 5070 12GB but on PCIe.Gen5
Please suggest which one to go & why if possible?

what difference does pcie generation make? the card comes with the generation that is suitable.

gen5 makes the system future proof also better loading speeds, only thing on my build will be Gen4 is GPU. Though I hardy suspect that will cause any problem while gaming
n7_trekkie@reddit
not for graphics cards, they dont do loading speeds. gen 5 ssds, yes. gen 5 GPUs will load games no faster than gen 4 or gen 3.

That does make sense but won't it create problem for future games 3-4years from now.

why do you ask? pcie generation is not a barrier for game compatibility, ever. it's simply the data rate the GPU can communicate with the CPU

So if that case then RTX 30 series is faster than RTX 20 on based on Architecture only by that standard RTX 50 series will be faster that RTX 40. Sorry I just trying to under the thing better. Not challenging your view. I respect you time and user input

well, and core count and many other things. not pcie gen tho. pcie generation is very simply a data rate. if the data rate is fast enough for the GPU to be fully utilized, then it does not matter.

Thanks that clear things up. Thanks a ton.

The 5070 hasn't been announced yet, let alone any specs actually revealed. There's no way to know which between a 4070 Ti Super or 5070 will be the faster GPU.
Currently PCIe 3.0 vs PCIe 4.0 doesn't translate into any significant performance benefits outside of GPUs with intentionally reduced number of PCIe lanes such that the use of PCIe 4.0 just results in PCIe 3.0 x16 speeds, or in artificial situations that require far more VRAM than the GPU has available.
If you're happy with 1080p, a 4070 Ti Super doesn't offer any real benefits over a base 4070, or even a 7700 XT. Except for running Cyberpunk 2077 in Overdrive RT mode.

It will be beneficial 16GB VRAM vs 12GB VRAM

At 1080p? Only if you increase the quality settings beyond what will be visibly different.
