Is Trump's election going to cause a wave of expats?

I know I'm thinking about it. But if he "sacrifices" the Ukraine, that really limits the European possibilities.
What do you think?

I work as a consultant for expats who want to move and saw a surge in Americans planning a year in advance of the elections in case trump won and being very specific that they wanted to move because of him, I didn’t meet anyone yet who said it was because of democrats, mainly just “politics”.
Most of them were preparing in advance and really doing their research. They were serious. And for the most part realistic, at least the ones who reached me due to the nature of my job. So I would say that a few are holding out and pre planning and that yes, we will see a surge.
There is also an increase in dual citizenship applications particularly from Americans since trumps first presidency kicked all this off. YES people will move.
I’m not just speculating. I work with numbers and statistics show that it’s happening.

Where would you recommend a family of four (children 1 and 2) go that's south of the border? If anywhere

I mainly work on European immigration. But I have heard good things about the more quiet and peaceful South American countries like Nicaragua.

I am one of those people who has been working on my citizenship by descent to an eastern European country. But Russia winning the war in Ukraine is now more likely after Trash Trump was elected and will destabilize the whole area.
dwylth@reddit
Wherever you have ancestral ties so that you can get citizenship?
Fickle_Freckle@reddit
My husband and I are a hodgepodge of white but we both have some Irish. Are we just screwed?
dwylth@reddit
What is "some Irish"? Are you an Irish citizen or eligible for citizenship by descent?

DM me with your contact info. I'll need your help!

Can you share contact info? I would be interested in your services.

Im now looking into moving not explicitly because of trump but because I don’t think I can live in a country with people this out of touch/stupid
SiscoSquared@reddit
A wave no. Last time trump won like 2000 more ppl than usual moved to Canada. It will be negligible.
lostintokyo11@reddit
As said emigration usually takes skills/money/education. Many people will have gaps in these areas and not be eligible. You can't just up and decide to go to another country just because you are American.
Help-Im-Dead@reddit
No we hear about this every US election. Lots of talk for a few weeks and then it fades back to the normal amount of talk
peppers_@reddit
Maybe a wave of activity in this sub, but no, I doubt more than a thousand and less than ten thousand will move. I might, but I've been thinking about it for years (I have been subbed here for a while) and have medical care needed for the next year unless Trump gets up to shenanigans really fast, so for sake of experience and ease, I probably won't until 2026 at earliest, if ever since it might be easier to move to a safer and better blue state. And I have to apply to get birthright citizenship for a EU country first too.
Extension_Canary3717@reddit
Probably not , many think it’s just take a plane and that’s it, 2016 expats subreddits were flooded with people asking below basic questions , then waning down .
I’m surprised this time is waning even faster . Be a expat is a colossal work is not for someone who had this idea yesterday . Those who wait until election result so start thinking about it will need 1-2 years to finish it the move
sailboat_magoo@reddit
We are. But most people can't.
I think that there will be brain drain once research funding is cut, though. France and Germany would be more than happy to hire all the top research scientists in the US.
CheckardTrading@reddit
Doubt. Every election we see this threat with no follow through
carnivorousdrew@reddit
No. People cannot move to different continents easily unless they have already dual citizenship. The number of US expat has been increasing constantly regardless of presidency because many who immigrated to the US or first generation Americans are deciding to retire in their other country of citizenship since in all cases the money from their US SS and retirement funds goes a longer way.
BroReece@reddit
Americans honestly are so funny. You won't move
manalexicon@reddit
Nope. They’re all talk or have never lived overseas.
jcsladest@reddit
Few will. We're going to. But it's more about the general American drama queen stuff, which includes Trump, but is not exclusively Trump.
Our kids already live in Europe and don't plan on coming back to the USA, so that makes it easier.
I love the USA. I just don't enjoy the drama and meanness (I live in a VERY red state).
recurrence@reddit
Every election there is a surge in people looking up how to move to Canada etc etc.
There's no resulting change in rate of immigration to other countries.
Glass_Confusion448@reddit
No. Maybe a small bump in the number of people who want an easy life without contributing to the work that built it. And a wave of fantasists posting that they want to leave.
But after the initial shock wears off, people will stay where they are and start doing the work to make their corner of the world better. Or they won't.
