Trying to Stay positive

Got let go at my first job out of college. They brought me in as an intern in 2021 then made me the system admin in 22 and let me go a few days ago. I filled into a position when the regular guy left without notice and the position was left unfilled for 6 months. They gave me the job because of how I hard I pushed for us to move to EntraID. We finished a 2 weeks ago and I was let go Thursday. I gave a friend a resume for a system admin position they had not listed yet.
Just needed to vent and have good vibes to get an interview somewhere.
Thank you all.

Well. At least you have some experience now which is better than only paper credentials

That’s a tough situation, but it sounds like you handled everything with a lot of drive and initiative, especially pushing for that EntraID migration. It’s wild how companies will sometimes let the exact kind of go-getter they need slip away. Taking on a full system admin role with that level of responsibility after being an intern is no small feat—you’ve got skills and experience now that definitely set you up well for future opportunities.
Also, good call on getting your resume out to your friend for that hidden system admin role. Networking, especially for roles that haven’t been listed yet, often lands people their next gig faster than anything else. Keep at it, and remember: sometimes these setbacks lead to bigger opportunities. You’ve got a lot going for you.

Honestly I was brought into the role while I was still in school. And just figured it out as I went. Some Google and intuition will get lots of things done.
But right now I am studying for Server and Security plus to maybe better myself

I used to be that guy who always came to the office 20-30 mins before start of the shift. Then 9/11 happened and heard stories of people who only survived/escaped because they were late for the first time in their lives. We are where we are supposed to be at the moment. Let the universe unfold on its own. Use this time to learn new things, or augment what you already know. Good luck!

Definitely stay positive! You'll land in a better place. You're off to a great start. Keep networking!

Thank you, I was trying to be a Jr admin first since I has 0 experience. But they somehow justified making me a full admin. I didn’t do a bad job, but I had a lot to learn on the fly, not just technical but I’m corporate communication

3 years isn’t a bad run these days. I’m sure you’ll land on your feet, just hope you were able to bank a little bit to cover you during the downtime.

I should be alright for a while, right now I’m applying and study for security and server plus. Should be a good resume add and distraction
