Does anyone do 4k on their 4070 ti?

my specs: 4070 ti / 13600
After playing the monster hunter wilds demo i was pretty unhappy with the lack of optimization. with frame gen, dlss quality, and max of ultra-high graphics the game was blurry artifacting and only getting <100 fps. was considering upgrading to the 5080 when it comes out and get an oled 4k monitor. ultimately decided it ran and looked good enough, till i woke up at 5 am to see my monitor arms had given up and my 1440p ultrawide on the floor.
ended up ordering a new msi 321urx (240 hz 32in 4k oled) after seeing how cheap it was (relative to the last time i checked out oleds). anywho im quite worried for how my 4070 ti will perform with 4k, especially with new games (mainly mh wilds and kingdome come deliverance 2).
will i have to use dlss ultra performance? does dlss ultra performance look better on 4k than 1440p? (i found dlss to look kinda bad when not set to quality with 1440p). should i just start budgeting for a 5080? get a 4090 when prices drop next year?

I play 4K on my 3060ti on a 50” TV. It runs all my games at 60fps (I rarely play new titles) it’s a bloody good card. Probably the best value card that nVidia have made
dosmoney@reddit
1080ti crew here to challenge that assertion lol
Happy_Book_8910@reddit
Hmmm, a flagship card of its time vs a mid range?
Drages23@reddit
4070 Ti is an entrance card to 4K, minimum I mean. Yeah you play stuff at 4K at 60 fps probably but you won't get a proper 4K experience. 5080 is the best budget choice if you ask me. I would not go for a 4090 just for gaming.

calling 5080 a budget choice is batshit insane dude lmao it will be the 2nd most powerful consumer gpu on the market for a *while*
kovu11@reddit
Calling anything from NVIDIA "budget" is batshit insane.

honestly its pretty crazy what the lower tier 40 cards can achieve with dlss and frame gen
kovu11@reddit
Its pretty crazy what any card can achieve with Losless Scaling, FSR, DLSS and frame gen. It is not NVIDIA exclusive.

you know what i meant, nvidias ai suite is more substantial. looks better and gets more performance gains. they are purpose built for ai in a way amd hasnt caught up to yet.
oreosandwhich@reddit
By 5080 do you mean 4080?
I’m also debating if it’s really worth going for a 4070 ti super or a 4080 compared to the regular 4070.
Drages23@reddit
No, 5080. I talk about 4K and if you ask me as a 4K player with 3090, even 4090 is not a good 4K card as it cannot play games native 120 FPS.
For that reason, for 4K, 5080 is the best budget option for a smooth 120 FPS experience. I am waiting 5090 for better lows.
I don't know why did you ask that? Do you wanna use 4K too? Even 2K, I would try to push 4070 TI over 4070. 4080 is so lame card as it's useless for 2K as 4070 TI exists and bad for 4K as it's weak.
double0nothing@reddit
Hello where do I buy this 5080 you speak of?
Drages23@reddit
After Jan 2025.
double0nothing@reddit
Respectfully you can't call something the best value graphics card if you don't know its price or performance.
XDenzelMoshingtonX@reddit
are you the prophet?
itz_slayer65@reddit
What are you talking about my guy?
Due-Equal8780@reddit
I mean I kinda get the roundabout point they're making, not sure why you'd want to game at 60 fps in 2024 at any resolution if you're an enthusiast
Not to mention if you purchase say, a 4k 60hz OLED right now to go with your 4080 or whatever, and then decide hey I wanna get a 5070 or 5080 that can do 4k games at 120 fps+, that monitor is the thing that will be bottlenecking your pc lol. And you prolly paid a grand+ for it with the prices currently. Not a wise future investment

About 4k murdering current gpu's
itz_slayer65@reddit
You got a 5080?
WVY@reddit
Dumb question
itz_slayer65@reddit
Are you off a perc or something
PCmasterRACE187@reddit (OP)
are you going 4k or 1440?
oreosandwhich@reddit
The plan is to upgrade to 4k gaming. Waiting for a decent deal on 4k monitors.
PCmasterRACE187@reddit (OP)
honestly if i were in your position id get the 5080, if you can afford it. for 4k i dont think buying an old mid range card is a great idea (assuming you play newer demanding games)
ClerklierBrush0@reddit
I play 4k with a 4070ti and 13600k. I can get 90fps medium graphics or better most games. It’s tolerable but not amazing.
adamant_onion@reddit
Same boat as you, what cpu are you looking to upgrade to?
ClerklierBrush0@reddit
I’m looking at the 7950x and probably a 4090 if the used prices drop enough. Otherwise probably a 5080. Vram is more important to me now, I play regular games in 4k but I do a lot of VRchat stuff. Specifically DJing in VR and I run like 10+ applications at once with a few of them being pretty demanding.
opensrcdev@reddit
Yup I play Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered at 4k on my 144hz display.
I can play 4k native or with FrameGen (no scaling) and it runs fantastically! Same with Hogwarts Legacy.
StewTheDuder@reddit
My 7900xt (similar performance) handles 4k very well. There are and will be a few exceptions, but for the most part it’s fine. Not sure a new unoptimized game is a good benchmark for your cards overall 4k performance.
boisterile@reddit
I have the Ti Super, but it's a great 4k card. I bought it when I had a 1440p monitor but I ended up upgrading because it could handle it
Lewdeology@reddit
Damn your monitor arms just decided to snap one day, new fear unlocked.
Ericzx_1@reddit
4k nowadays is basically 1440p since most new releases ship with dlss. 4070 ti should be able to.
Sluipslaper@reddit
Yes, took it to the lounge 4k tv and looked amazing and was awesome experience, but tv's are slower response rate than monitors, so moved back to 1440p high refresh rate.
Would recommend for single player experience, maybe not like call of duty or something
