Thinking about teaching...

Anyone want to share some advice on that transition? Either K-12 or higher ed. I've been in various sysadmin/management roles for the last 26 years and I'm sick of the madness of keeping up on whatever new tech came out last week that someone needs me to have 2 years of experience with. Currently employed, not enjoying the place or the state I live in. Thinking about relocating and one constant (other than healthcare) seems to be teaching. Can almost always find a job somewhere teaching. Specializing in tech education might be a slight bonus, too.
I'm sure it'll be a pay cut but I know that some states have higher teacher salaries (I'm currently in one of the lowest teacher salary states) and might not be a horrible shock.
Anyone have advice or thoughts?

Teaching is extremely stressful and not a lot of pay when you first start. Usually bumps in salary are tied to education levels and number of years teaching. Also considering the president-elect wants to remove funding for department of education and favors a voucher system for the wealthy, I’d say it might be extra volatile in the years ahead

I know second career teachers who have loved he change. It depends on the person. That said, things could be getting bad in education soon.

If you go K-12, you're gonna have parents getting pissed at you for their kids poor grades. If you go higher ed, you might still have some of that. Depending on the school, you might even have management pressure to pass kids to keep the financial aid money flowing.

Depends on what kind of teaching you want to go into: (pre-)k-12 or higher ed, public vs private. There’s also a large difference in atmosphere/attitudes between Kindergarten, middle grades (6-8), and high school. You may want to sub first. See what age group you prefer first.
Also, teaching K-12 often requires a teaching certificate/license. That takes a bit of time and effort. Do a little research before you jump into teaching. Not saying it can’t be done, just that it’s not as easy as some people think

Out of one frying pan and into another.
Teachers don't exactly have it easy in any way.
You say its a 'constant' but what does that mean? Isn't postal work also a constant? Isn't 90% of jobs a 'constant' in the same manner?
The only thing 'constant' about Teachers specifically is that they're getting fucked 24/7 in some way or another.
You're trading one level of hell for a parallel dimension version of hell tbh.
You're going to be paid less, respected less, stressed more etc etc etc
Teachers are just IT but with way less pay and work primarily with kids.
This is like having a toothache and considering shooting yourself in the leg...
