Im 17 and in college doing a “cybersecurity” course which is terrible and im not enjoying it what so ever, i wanted to switch course but apparently its too far into the year to do so. I dont know what to do as my mom is trying to get me to carry on and finish the year which i dont see a point in as im not going to carry it on next year so i dont want to waste this year on doing something that im not even going to carry on. Im honestly so lost in this situation

Your mom and my dad should go bowling together. Had the exact same problem when I was your age. Dad made me stick it out saying I'd lose momentum, job prospects, yada yada. So, I stuck it out for the year, and was miserable. Ended up flunking end of year exams. So it turned out to be a waste of a year anyway.
If I could do it all over again, I'd drop out immediately, get a job and get some real world experience. Over time, I'd figure out what I like and dislike and eventually figure out what I want to do.
If you're heart isn't in it, you owe it to yourself to get yourself out of that situation. Screw what everyone else says.

Is this a standalone course and the only qualification you are currently studying for, or is it simply one course of several qualifications?
It matters because as an employer, someone who has a CV with either 3 or 4 A-levels, I don’t really care which number it is. But if it’s the only qualification, then dropping out with nothing will really hurt your job prospects.

You're always going to drop some of the subjects you study at A level. What are you not enjoying about the course?

Why is it terrible? Cyber security pays well. Good career options.

What's the alternative? If it's doing nothing, I would try to battle through. It can be a particular aspect or teacher that's the problem, or personal issue distracting you, many things that can change over time. Also this time of year is depressing as fuck - the spring can bring a new mindset to everything.

If you don’t have any better options, stay on the course until you can change. It is better than dropping out and doing nothing productive. The completed year on your cv is better than dropping out and sitting in the sofa.

I dropped out at your age and I do regret it. Cyber security is a great course to do.
What type of course is it? AS level, btec etc? Are you sure you don’t gain anything from finishing this year ie. A level 2 qualification.
It is best to speak to the school about this, it may be a case of either seeing it through or dropping out and wasting the last year.

What would you do if you drop out?
What course would you prefer to do?
If you were my kid, I'd give you two choices:
Either keep going and transfer into a different course next year. Or get a job, then drop out.
