New Year's Eve in Budapest

Hey Redditors,
My friends and I will visit your city over new year‘s eve. So the question came up what to do at this evening.
We would be interested in a Dinner and Party afterwards to celebrate with locals. One of my friends also speaks Hungarian, so we will be able to communicate.
Do you have any recommendations for us?

plenty of boat parties, but i don't think locals can afford to go on them unless daddy is paying.

In the city will be plenty of NYE dinners at restaurants and parties on music locations, in all kind of music genre. But both are in common ridiculously overpriced, comparing non-nye days.
You can count for a dinner from 100 till 4-500 Euro pP, party entry like from 30 -50 Euro.
But I guess, everywhere in the world, all services are overpriced between 23.12 and 2.1
Fireworks as mentioned, no state official (this is on 20th August) - just from locals, though every year there are designated place on Vörösmarty square / Heroes square, where bigger crowd comes together at midnight (mostly younger peeps), and shoot the fireworks and drink champagne with randoms.

You can't celebrate with locals. All locals will be celebrating at home with their close friends or families (house parties).
Keep in mind there is no official fireworks for NYE in Budapest. Only locals setting off their own fireworks.

Thanks, was not aware of that

I truly believe NYE in Budapest isn't the best, most of the clubs and bars are closed, and the ones that are open are either lifeless or pay to enter.
