The main problem imo is that people don't want to feel personally responsible for the bad condition of others. When we see that there are people who are poor, homeless, addicted, we naturally feel the urge to help, but we also understand that we couldn't solve the problem even if we tried our best. For that reason, people jump at the idea they could delegate the responsibility to someone else.

I do believe people are inclined to give in and help to some extent, otherwise humanity wouldn't have survived this long, but since we're also naturally lazy, we want to do it in the most effortless way possible. Better yet, if we can detach ourselves further from those problems and not even interact with them in any way, that's what we're going to do.

The state takes from us a great part of our financial resources and constantly makes any sort of business or work as draining as possible employing endless regulations with the excuse that it knows better and will solve bigger problems with the means it's taking from us, but it was far too ineffective to solve anything from the start.

If people don't start to develop a sense of responsibility towards themselves, their families, their communities and the whole of humanity and stop handing so much to states, things will never change.
