I am goth as fuck and have a professional job. They DGAF that I only wear black and do the whole corpo-goth thing. I don't have to compromise my identity and neither did that dude. Life goals achieved.
Depends on who you ask, I suppose. I got chased out of r/goth by Gen Z kids who insisted that being goth is only about listening to the right music and nothing else. That I dared mention shared subculture and fashion was quickly rebuked. Unfortunatley the younger generations are obsessed with 'big titty goth girlfriends' and have completely skewed what most people think goth actually is.
A lot of people my age or older agree with me that it's a certain darker outlook on life. A predisposition toward finding beauty in darkness and the fact that life is ephemeral. There's also the music, of course. I go to at least one live show a month and I go to goth clubs about once every two weeks because I love to dance. And of course the most obvious thing is the style and fashion, I wear what I like and don't compromise to please others (unless the situation is serious enough to warrant it, but that's rare.)
I personally spend every day in Levis, dirty white tennis shoes, a work shirt, and a Weyland-Yutani trucker cap. I consider myself, in my heart, goth as fuck. Just never got into the clothing fashion of it.
But, you know, every night I burn, so fuck it. Goth is what's on the inside. And there's nothing on the inside.
I mean, the fashion is a big part of goth culture but it's not everything. Most people can't go to work all gothed out, I just work for a company that doesn't give a shit as long as it's work appropriate.
Also have you ever noticed the Weyland-Yutani logo is the same as Wumpscut? I noticed a while back and now I can't unlink them in my brain.
Pretty sure it is. There are samples from Alien in some Wumpscut songs. It just took me an embarrassingly long time to realize they're pretty much identical. I am usually way more observant.
Said it before on another subreddit regarding being a goth in the summer. Also, similar questions about wearing tactical gear and black boots and uniforms in the summer. Majority of my jobs have had a requirement for all black uniforms. I enjoy the company dress codes.

I'm absolutely just asking this out of curiosity, but what is a goth identity?

I always thought it was intentional because it's SO dead on.

Man, there's so much going on. All the time. Don't even count that against you.
I didn't realize someone was sitting in a chair reading their phone yesterday, IN MY OFFICE. WHILE I WAS WORKING.
We're not superheroes lol.

Did it annoy you that he kept going on about Cradle of Filth when it isn't even a goth band, or is that just me?

It wasn't the spirit of the image, but I can't say that that is wrong.
