I knew AMD was downplaying their performance last week when they stated the uplift was only 8%. In any case, I hope they include a second Vcache block on the 9950X3D this time.
FlatusSurprise@reddit
I don’t think they will considering the latest AGESA has a toggle in BIOS to shut off the non-Vcache CCD, unless their intent is to provide that option to previous generation chips.
SmashStrider@reddit
I was skeptical and assumed that it was likely lower than 8%, but was pleasantly surprised to see otherwise.
Tenelia@reddit
oh wait, I'm using a VPN to see this, but how're the china reviewers accessing all that
Strazdas1@reddit
They are using VPN too.
Reactor-Licker@reddit
I’m really happy they tested simulation and strategy type games as that is highly underrepresented in reviews. Also, I love the subtle jab they did at Cities Skylines 2 with the player count. That game was so disappointing.
My only complaint is I wish they had the 9700X on there as well so it would be obvious which games actually benefitted from the cache and not just the latency/scheduling improvements from only having 1 CCD.
trashpandabusinesman@reddit
There is no way im going to be able to pick one of these up with all the hype :( Im gonna have flashbacks to the 3000 series all over again

If I'm playing games while streaming, should I expect the 9950x to outperform the 9800X3D? Any tests I could find online about this?
I know the 9950x is better for workstation type stuff, but I don't know where gaming while streaming falls.
saikrishnav@reddit
IMHO, you can look at 7800x3d and see if it falls behind 7950x in streaming. Thats your answer.
roosterinmyviper@reddit
Tl;dr how does this compare with the 9950x?
saikrishnav@reddit
For work and gaming at higher res, 9950x since at 1440p or 4k - differences won’t matter but in work they do matters
For gaming purely, no need to spend on 9950x.
Even the reviews who mention 1440p lower the settings a lot, so the difference would be lower.
I am waiting to see how 9900x3d stacks without core parking shenanigans.
Chairman_Daniel@reddit
Beats it in most titles apart from LOL where 9950x gets more fps. In terms of percentage it can be somewhere 12-30% faster depending on games.
roosterinmyviper@reddit
What about productivity-wise?
Chairman_Daniel@reddit
9900x beats it. In terms of performance they say the 9800x3d is similar to a 9700x.
Lisaismyfav@reddit
This review is one of the best imo. Not only do they show a variety of game genres, but they also show OC results. On top of that, they have subtitles to boot.
saikrishnav@reddit
Derbauer also did direct die over clocking in his review.
rtyuuytr@reddit
Yes, the reviews on MSFS, Dyson Sphere Program, Cities Skylines One, Victoria 3 are extremely useful.
Every reviews does Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, BG3, CS2 which are utterly useless given there are 20+ English reviews of the exact same games making them basically useless.
Jayram2000@reddit
Its nuts seeing LN2 OC in a day 1 review. I'm liking Geekerwan's content more and more
saikrishnav@reddit
From what GN hinted, I think they got chips in their hands for a while now (easily 10 days), so makes sense.
AnthMosk@reddit
Do you game over 1080p like the vast majority of the world? Well then this is a waste do money
CwRrrr@reddit
Intel shills coping hard lmaoo. Bet they were gloating about intels gaming performance against amd in the past and now they have to cope with this shitter excuse🤡🤡
rstune@reddit
Bigger number better!!!
PhilSpencerP3@reddit
then what is the bigger number? worse?
LuluButt3rs@reddit
The fastest iPhone in history!
Yeah no really
saboglitched@reddit
The latest intel cpu wasn't even the fastest intel cpu in history
Standard-Activity-87@reddit
From 5800x3d we can clearly say that consumers wants gaming cpus and there is two reaction to this demand:
Amd makes them mcuh better , adopst new x3d tech and now solve its freq. Reduction with 9800x3d better thermal;
Intel remove memory controller form Compute tile and put it on other tile to incrase latencies which is critical to gaming perf and lose amd by 30 percent (in some games even more ) and dont have any b plan
Even in productivity at max Intel and Amd is close , Amd can basically make their regular cpus less expensive and still compete.
really cant Intel see what is coming?
Dull_Wasabi_5610@reddit
Intel has been shooting itself in the foot for a very long time now. They were way too comfortable being king of the hill in the bulldozer era.
redsunstar@reddit
What a terrible title.
There has been a most powerful gaming CPU in history at any time period CPUs and gaming have existed.
And furthermore, this one isn't much faster than the previous crown holder.
PAcMAcDO99@reddit
19% faster than 7800x3d bud
conquer69@reddit
Lol no.
redsunstar@reddit
Is it? That result looks like an outlier to me.
Techpowerup is at 6-7% faster, HWU at 11% faster. The jump from 5800X3D to 7800X3D was higher. This is a decent improvement, but it's not that great.
And even if we take the 19% improvement Geekerwan did, it's on par with a good generational improvement, like AMD has had a few times before, it's not an exceptional generational improvement.
And as I said before, other testing arrive at lower improvement percentages.
If anything, I think the gaming improvement of the 9800X3D over the 7800X3D is just decent while the general application performance improvement is a lot more solid.
