I feel like cloud defensive really went downhill with their product offerings. For the price, the switch they give you, and the incompatibility with others kills it.
My first light was from them but I’ve moved on to using surefires. My latest being a m640 dft pro at $250
I can excuse streamlight since their rifle lights are so cheap at $115
I don't mind the switch incompatibility because I'm not invested in the surefire ecosystem with a bunch of underpowered tapeswitches/endcaps gimping my lights performance.
That said, what really annoys me is the light press for "momentary off" which is the exact opposite of EVERYONE else in the market. Light discipline says I want light press to be momentary on(/off).
Cloud: light off, light press, nothing happens ❌️
Light on, light press, light turns off ❌️
Other lights: Light off, light press, light momentarily on ✅️
They've been doing this since the 1st one so that's some real commitment to stubbornness. If not for that, and the firmness/stiffness of their buttons, I think they'd be hands down the best weapon lights (except for price).
I had one of those... other than being unnecessarily indestructible, the rein is a better light in every way... more ergonomic, easier to mount forward, less chonky and heavy, usable in nv setups.. just all around better.
Literally the only place I could even use the owl was on a shorter sbr/pistol with no laser.... or pretty much anything other than a simple red dot on it.
Doesn't solve it's primary problem of the light being tied to the pressure pad and therefore it HAS to be top rail mounted relatively not too far forward (unless you're doing some sort of Costa grip) and gets in the way of literally everything else you'd want to mount on the top rail.
Ooh I got a COR v1 I scored on primary Arms new open box like 2 years ago, which was 2 years after they stopped making them. I saw it and was like 😳 idc the price, I need this thing in my life.
They’re pretty sweet. Keep an eye on GAFS for one to come up for sale. I wouldn’t put it on anything over 14.5 though because you have to reach out to where the light is to activate it. Also, because of weight.

I wonder if they made a bunch of switches wrong and just decided to sell them instead of starting over.

Maybe a new rev could be smaller, lighter, brighter and dare I say more affordable? One can dream right.
