thank you /r/dallas for only downvoting us into oblivion for saying republican things, and not banning us for saying our opinion. (like happened on a half dozen subreddits, for me and the rest)

this is one of the only neutral places that didn't ban for having the other opinion

I just hope yall get cheap eggs and milk because losing women rights and having a celebrity felon as president is not worth it. Once we get hit with those tariffs and shit hits the fan it’ll be too late. Downvote me all yall want I don’t care.
StormForeign@reddit
The president can only sign a bill about abortion. Congress has to create a bill first. A president can not pass legislation expanding abortion access without Congress. A lot of people have been terribly misled thinking a president can make a law regarding abortion. If you want to change abortion laws Congress is where you need to start.
gladys22@reddit
I’m extremely aware of how all of this works. Sadly most of America does not and somehow they think a celebrity as president is a better option.
LiftSushiDallas@reddit
How exactly am I as a woman losing rights?
nickmarvin@reddit
Because now you actually have to deal with the consequences of your own actions and be held accountable, instead of just killing any unwanted baby that you didn’t plan for.
These people and their victim mentality is ridiculous.
LiftSushiDallas@reddit
Oh I'm pro-choice. I just understand how are federalist system works 😆😆. I didn't lose autonomy when Roe was rightfully reversed. I still can choose.
Gimme_More_Cats@reddit
This. Women across the country were sold out for the promise of cheaper groceries from a pathological liar.

Let's just make our own r /dallas with blackjack, hookers and Republicans
SaltySaltFace42@reddit
I made r/altdallas
medullaoblongtatas@reddit
Good. I hope they did. As they should.
CabotRaptor@reddit
Has it ever occurred to you that this exact attitude is a reason the Dems lost?
chayatoure@reddit
Realistically, the Dems lost because they have a less effective propaganda machine and are actually held accountable for things they say.
CabotRaptor@reddit
Or maybe they lost because they didn’t hold a primary, picked an unlikeable candidate linked to an incredibly unpopular sitting president, and fundamentally misunderstand what drives people to vote?
chayatoure@reddit
What about Harris makes her unlikeable or unqualified?
And I agree they bungled the election, and should have had a primary, Trump literally says whatever he wants, is a serial liar, and yet constantly gets the benefit of the doubt.
CabotRaptor@reddit
I never said she was unqualified. But that being said - yes there are many more qualified candidates out there that would have a chance at being identified if they actually had a primary.
But let me ask the likability question a different way - what makes her likeable?
I’m a pretty vanilla person with a few funny moments, but does that mean I’m likeable enough to turn out voters for a presidential election? Of course not
noncongruent@reddit
Democrats had a primary, back in the spring. That primary's voters chose Biden/Harris as their nominee going into the DNC national convention where the actual choice of candidate to put on the ticket is made. Biden famously dropped out late in the election cycle, and Republicans were actually hoping that since there was no time to run another primary that Democrats would simply withdraw from the election and let Trump win by default. Yes, I have had several Republican friends of mine state this to me, right to my face.
Another primary simply wasn't going to happen, it was not possible due to time constraints.
However, since the DNC convention hadn't happened yet Harris decided to run, filed the proper paperwork, and presented herself to the delegates at the DNC convention. Those delegates were elected by local Democratic parties all over the country and traveled to the DNC convention as representatives of their electors, namely Democrats around the country. They voted at the convention to put Harris on the ballot as a candidate for them. This was all legitimate and by the book. The RNC no doubt has the same procedures in place in case Trump died before being nominated at the RNC convention.
Ultimately, the people trying to say Harris wasn't legitimate because she wasn't nominated in the Democratic primary are really saying that when Biden dropped out the Democrats should have just let the Republicans win by default and not even bother getting any Democrat on the presidential ballot. That's not how democracy is supposed to work.
BTW, she did win the primaries.
chayatoure@reddit
All that is literally my point, you’re not a trump supporter but you’re parroting right wing propaganda. Republicans somehow get the benefit of the doubt as the party of truth despite the fact they are constantly telling bold faced lies that are easy to disprove.
A) Harris is absolutely qualified. Multiple positions at state and national level politics, including VP. In what world is that unqualified? Trump won on his credentials of — being born rich, running failed businesses, being a known con man, and starring in reality tv.
B) We can argue if Harris is likeable, but what exactly makes her unlikeable? Is Trump likeable? Again, rich kid who was giving everything, convicted of sexual abuse (on top of all the other evidence), known for stiffing his contractors, barely coherent these and clearly showing signs of decline (only an issue when it was Biden, I guess), etc.
But somehow Harris is unqualified and unlikeable?
CabotRaptor@reddit
See this is again more of the same problem.
You are saying that people are incapable of making their own decisions about a candidate and are somehow susceptible to republican ‘propaganda’.
The proof is in the pudding. Millions of people listened to what Kamala had to say and didn’t vote for her.
Not everything is a conspiracy. People are capable of making their own decisions. That’s exactly what happened.
It’s time to stop blaming the republicans for everything and engage in some difficult discussions about what the Dems can do better
chayatoure@reddit
I agree we need to figure out what Dems can do better, but there is a massive uphill battle because of the issues I mentioned above and the fact that our political system is heavily biased against making progress.
medullaoblongtatas@reddit
Has it ever occurred to you that I don’t actually give a shit? That’s a wild take coming from the party that bitched and moaned the last 4 years about a stolen election. Maybe now it’s time for a taste of your own medicine.
CabotRaptor@reddit
Ah there you go, you assumed I voted for Trump or the Republicans (hint: I didn’t)
medullaoblongtatas@reddit
Do you want a cookie?
CabotRaptor@reddit
Idk, do you make good cookies?

You guys have X and Truth Social. Fuck off.
oilmoney322@reddit
If you haven’t noticed Reddit is a cesspool of far left political opinions. Even r/conservative is bombarded with trolls and far left opinions. Often times left leaning thinkers are far more vocal on their opinions so it becomes a an echo chamber which does not reflect reality. If you only get your information from Reddit you would think the election would have been a 100% victory for Dems.
CommanderSquirt@reddit
That shit goes both ways. People love to attack and play the victim - it's what they've been conditioned to do.
Furrealyo@reddit
The /r/Dallas mods are actually pretty chill.
Cheers!
Chosen1PR@reddit
I mean, I hope you get what you voted for?
Remind me, what did you actually vote for?
