Should my 7800X3D be this hot?

Hi I have used my 7800x3d for quite some time now (8 months) I have realized it has always been around 50c-60c idle when I check using ICUE. Is it supposed to be this hot on idle? When I search it up a lot of sources are telling me 20-30c is considered normal.

7800X3D runs a bit hot because the cache die on top acts like a blanket making it harder for the heat from the cores to dissipate

Yet everyone want to cool it effectively with air.

I think an air cooler is fine, a decent single tower even. Just don't expect very low idle temps with this CPU.
9800X3D should have lower temps because they stacked the CCX die on top of the cache die, the reverse of the 7800X3D.

I have 240mm AIO, and it does stay below 48 at normal speed. But does go up to 80s on full load.
It should be cooler.

Idle temps mean nothing in all reality - for the most part.
You're only going to get idle temps at 20-30c on a 7800X3D if you've either got a huge custom water loop and/or you're running your A/C all the way down to 65F.
7800X3D has a higher idle temps because the extra cache it has acts as an insulating later.
Whats more important is the temps under load. If its not hitting its 89c thermal limit under load, you're perfectly fine.

again, idle temps dont really matter unless they are really high (70+ might indicate an incorrect mounting)
60C idle is fine. it wont hurt anything.
what are your temps under load?

Download HWiNFO, if your "effective clocks" aren't less than 500mhz then it's not idle. My fully idle cores are 0.1mhz while 2-3 are at about 300-600mhz, partly because HWiNFO utself is running.
Things like icue are constantly doing stuff like gathering sesir data even when you don't have the UI open.
Also what's your ambient temperature? My mostly idle is about 44c right now with an bient of 22-23, if your ambient is 5c higher than the CPU will be 8c higher, it's non linear.

No, my 7900X idles at 38-42, depending on ambient, and it would draw more power.
If your CPU is actually idle, it sounds like either your fan curves aren't aggressive enough (or inactive), or your thermal paste job wasn't great.
