Is this the same proposal that Petter from Mentour Aviation talked about in his recent video? The Video

10 years later, lots of silt accumulation and some corrosion on wreckage probably strewn around underwater canyons and spread over a gigantic area given the depth and complex underwater currents. Good luck.
These are basically pirates looking for sunken treasure. They'll let the possibility of a big payout take them into dangerous seas, convincing themselves they'll find it because they want that payday.
KrafftFlugzeug@reddit
Would there really be a payday?
DaimonHans@reddit
You could be remembered as the person who uncovered the mystery of the century.
KrafftFlugzeug@reddit
For me the radio interference guy is the person that solved it. If the plane is found now it's only because of his work.
nakedgum@reddit
Can you tell me what this refers to? I actually looked for it ten years ago flying out of Perth but haven’t been following much in the last 5.
KrafftFlugzeug@reddit
Sure. Some guy used amateur radio archives to calculate the route of MH370. It sounds like magic and is hard to believe, but major sources have reported on it.

Oh very cool. Thanks.

Mentour Pilot also talks about in his MH370 video
chuckop@reddit
This century, sure.

Rumor is $70M directly, plus probably a fair bit indirectly between international notoriety, a documentary, and other revenue streams. Probably a good deal more for subsequent assistance in helping with salvage operations in which case that $70M could potentially double.
Only paid if they find it, and that fee dwindles the longer the search takes because of their operating costs.
But they have a strong incentive, financially and in reputation, to convince themselves they can do it.
Not saying it's a waste of time, but they'll have a strong incentive to convince themselves their odds are better than they probably are.
KrafftFlugzeug@reddit
With the new information available they will probably start in the right place. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually find something.
HardpointNomad@reddit
This is such a defeatist attitude. I suppose we should have never looked for the wreck of the Titanic too huh.
SignificantIsopod797@reddit
Well we knew what happened, and where it sank…
BosnianBreakfast@reddit
Oh boy, yeah... he's basically comparing apples to elephants.

Not sure how I feel about this. A great amount of money will be spent again 10 years later to look for something in the ocean that has likely eroded.
PunkAssBitch2000@reddit
It’s not guaranteed to have eroded. Especially if it’s in deep at a low temperature, which is most likely. But it also depends on what bacteria and organisms are present in that area, as some target specific materials. But there’s a very good chance wreckage is still there. For example, the Vasa, a Swedish war ship, survived on the seafloor for over 300 years before being lifted (basically intact) and put in a museum. And that was a wooden ship.
Zsolt822@reddit
Would it be possible to recover any data from the black boxes after so many years?
PunkAssBitch2000@reddit
Depends on the condition they’re found it. But it is possible.
CaptainMcSlowly@reddit
Alright, off to a good start
and there it goes...
jimsensei@reddit
Is there anything actually new here, or is this just the same story that has been reprinted once every six months for the past 11 years.

I’ll believe when the first OceanInfinity ships arrive at the search area. Asia doesn’t do well with pilot suicides. Remember Silk Air 185? It was clear that flight was brought down based on the CVR stopping after the captain went to go to bathroom. Flights recorders just don’t randomly stop working. There was no mechanical fault or a rudder hard-over with Silk Air 185. Then the official Indonesian reports states the cause of the crash as “inconclusive”, despite some of their own investigators corroborating the pilot suicide theory.
a1b3c2@reddit
Was there a plane crash in China that may have been a suicide pilot? I think sometime in the past two years
Main_Violinist_3372@reddit
Yeah that China Eastern flight. But Silk Air 185 that I referred to was 1997.

Says the country that diverted the entire search effort to cover up the fact that no one bothered to look at radar despite the country being put on alert.
