Well the state did re-elect Rafael "Cancun" Cruz and gave it's electoral votes to a 34 count convicted felon and adjudicated rapist that happens to be a fascist
Knowing who most of your neighbors are how are you surprised by this? Trump Iâm not worried about. Itâs the guys who come after him that care me. Making plans to stack cash and leave this state/country within the next 4 years
There's a dispensary in Denton that still got raided (it's all legal products), no warrant, bullshit probable cause, spending fucktons of money on testing it. They took like an $8k hit and get zero recourse, yes the cops absolutely feel above the law lmfao
Not exactly. The legislature is the only body that can decriminalize. Cities can ask or mandate local PD to make possession a low priority. If you get a ticket for something else, the cop can add possession. It's a state law. State laws supercede municipalities.
Realistically that's on the AG, not cops. If the AG sticks with the law, cops are just wasting their time booking people who will immediately be cut loose with no charges.
Here is the deal, it doesn't matter because THCa is already legal, and you cannot tell the difference. Weed is de facto already legal in Texas.
I mean, Hometown Heroes (not shilling, just informing) already sells 25 mg d9-THC gummies through the mail or over the counter. You don't even have to be 18.
So rather than legislate and oversee, Texas is happy flooding the market with essentially unregulated cannabis.
You absolutely can tell the difference. Not as strong, smokes poorly, tastes weird. Maybe if you're just comparing the liquid distillate to generic "real" liquid distillate you can't tell a difference. But otherwise it's pretty obvious.
thc-a is literally the same thing, its just called that as a loop hole. If you can tell a difference it's because the bud is lower quality. r/CultoftheFranklin to learn more.
ooooh okay that makes more sense. Yeah cops can't tell the difference obviously. I wonder though if you wouldn't get ticketed for smoking in public? Technically it's legal, there's no law against public D9 consumption specifically. I just can't imagine a cop wouldn't do anything. Crazy.
No, itâs still illegal, what this boils down to is that Dallas Cops wonât be issuing citations or criminal penalties for weed under a certain quantity.
Yeah, a few years ago I went to a Snoop Dogg / Wiz Kalifah show at Starplex/Dos Equis/whatever and I swear every person at the show was smoking openly and the cops did nothing. A complete stranger handed me a joint as I was walking across the lawn.
It's been the DA's policy not to go after possession under 2 oz. This bumps that to 4oz, and makes it so that it cannot be revoked by the next AG and makes it such that officers cannot use the smell of weed as probably cause to search a car.
I believe the DA has said they won't bring any charges for low level weed so cops weren't happy but didn't waste time since it was useless. Now this isn't the DA, but law they can not charge someone for personal weed.
With tcha and delta 8 products everhwhere it's too expensive to test to see if the flower is truly delta 9 or not so they have just been doing warnings for past few yrsÂ

Brother there are so many 1000s of pounds of weed in Dallas, NOBODY whoâs excited about the decriminalization would ever have to source their own bud from out of city limits.
There are already dispensaries of thc-9 products, albeit I would not opt to own all
Business right now in thst arena. Definitely a

Downvote all you want, but here comes the bitter truth. We make a lot of solid arrests of bad people based off searches from marijuana in cars. If this probable cause search actually upholds, we will have to go to alternative methods that most won't like. Those warnings we give on your ticket warrants you refuse to take care of? Going to jail. Those traffic offenses we give warnings or citations on? If we need to, we will arrest you just on those traffic offenses. That's you going to jail for the night. Car impounded and fees to be paid.
In my honest opinion, most or all of this amendment will be shot down in court in due time.
Former officer in a decriminalized city, the odor of marijuana is still probable cause in Texas. We still seized and destroyed any marijuana found, but we issued rehabilitation course registrations instead of citations or arrests.
You can still be searched if they smell marijuana, it will still be taken and destroyed, you will likely be summoned to a âdrugs are badâ class that youâre required to take.
Besides, if a dog alerts on your car door, he could be alerting to ANY drug and you're getting searched regardless and your weed will be taken and your wrist will be slapped. Basically, if the cop smells it, he'll get a dog to sniff around and that's that.
This the problem the city law not following state law which is why prop S shouldâve been against but was voted for now folks can bring lawsuits saying hey yall not following state law about marijuana etc etc itâs all a shit show honestly lmao but hopefully prop S goes to court
Yes, thatâll be a portion overridden by DPD. The DAâs office may not accept charges for anything found until itâs challenged and that portion is overturned, but itâll still be used as PC.
State law says itâs PC and the Supreme Court of Texas and the US has agreed, so thereâs no fruit of the poisonous tree concerns, even if the city says itâs no longer PC.
4oz is quite a bit though. When I used to smoke, I'd go through about an oz a week. If you're driving around with more than 4oz, you might be a dealer. đ
There was a proposition on the ballot that did not pass. Did you vote for it? It also passed but apparently the people of dalls don't believe we should have more officer.
There is no fully safe city, people just use this as an excuse to peddle fear and strip money away from civic improvement.
Also the idea that you just slash everything to only provide for a single civic servics isn't stupid so much as blatantly childish. As though this won't suddenly create a slew of new easily preventable major issues.
Itâs completely legal in Canada, but blue collar jobs often test for it because intoxication is a huge safety risk. They probably canât get insurance if they donât test.
No. I voted no why would we increase mayor and city council salaries and not the employees of City of Dallas? Makes no sense they havenât had a raise so why should they? It makes absolutely no sense
Because voters control the salaries of elected officials, it would be pretty fucking stupid if the general populace voted on the salaries of every city worker.
Proposition C: Proposition C would amend the Dallas city charter to increase the annual salary for the mayor to $110,000 (up from $80,000) and the annual salary for city council members to $90,000 (up from $60,000) with salaries subject to a yearly adjustment equal to the year-over-year percentage increase in the local consumer price index, effective January 1, 2025.
The cool thing is because we passed R and S, we now get to sue the city for not enforcing Texas law due to R, and get all of our attorneysâ fees! Really smart move, voters
We had our chance, even with his indictments he just keeps going unchecked. Sadly we blew it for removing him and it just made the big three even more extreme.
They directed the police to stop arresting for 4 ounces or less and stop searches based on "smells". That is hardly decriminalizing weed. And Paxton will file suit this week/month stating it conflicts with state law.
Oklahoma, the backward state we love to make fun of, has medical weed which means you only need a friendly doctor. We have prohibition, Dallas' vote notwithstanding.
That's funny, cause I've worked both blue collar and white collar type jobs for the past 25 years and only 2 places I've ever worked didn't require a drug test.
Been seeing baby steps for a while now, hopefully it's just legalized on the federal level soon. This tiptoeing and all of these "technicality" products flooding the market. Just pull the trigger, legalize marijuana.
This decriminalized 4 oz. DPD was against it. Saying that's enough for someone to be selling it. And that MJ is absolutely a good reason for probable cause. Clearly the people think they're full of it.
Thatâd be cool and all but Texas was already called for fascists before you typed this. Turd Cruz got reelected too. I have no hope that the republicans in charge would allow a free and fair election to happen and I anticipate Ken Paxton bragging about throwing the to Trump, again. Last time around he fucked with the votes in Houston to throw the election to Trump.
I say this as someone who voted both ways today, I genuinely think the Republican party messed with the election. Perhaps not directly. But definitely did. And started with early voting. For a group that seems to refuse to denounce Russia and Putin, but say they hate communism... And then those communist countries are found to mess with the election by spreading false videos and allegations that make people believe Trump is being targeted and rally behind him more... The stories of Elon Must offer incentives to vote for Trump while himself being offered incentives. It's too much that seems to link up for the party to not seem suspicious to others.
As the article mentions he has already sued the five other cities that have passed similar decrim ordinances the judges have already thrown out the lawsuits in two of the cities.
But the DAs/ADAs, who ultimately makes prosecutorial decisions, wonât waste theirs⊠I hope. If they did a defendant could refuse a plea or ticket and take it to trial and I guarantee they would drop it

RequirementIll8141@reddit
No. I voted no why would we increase mayor and city council salaries and not the employees of City of Dallas? Makes no sense they havenât had a raise so why should they? It makes absolutely no sense
PaulieNutwalls@reddit
Because voters control the salaries of elected officials, it would be pretty fucking stupid if the general populace voted on the salaries of every city worker.
bananabob23@reddit
The mayor makes less than 110k?
mid4life@reddit
No. Currently 80. The prop raises to 110.
Kamden3@reddit
I voted no on this, they can do that as soon as they do it for minimum wage as well...
It's currently at 58% against with 22% of the vote in per Fox4.
mid4life@reddit
I donât disagree, necessarily. My thought around it is salary only gets incompetent and corrupt candidates who will never change minimum wage.
bananabob23@reddit
TIL. No wonder they accept bribes, Iâm a moron and make more

Prop S would also let someone arrested for weed sue the city for not following their charter.

txholdup@reddit
That's about an ounce of hyperbole.
Hadrian98@reddit
Doesnât matter if youâre a professional where you get drug tested. If you work retail or food, no one cares.
HBKdfw@reddit
Iâve been a professional most of my life and havenât been drug tested since I was a teenager working hourly jobs.
I had a gossipy employee once come into my office and shut the door. âI think Lauraâs ON DRUGS.
Did she miss a deadline? No.
Is her work performance declining? No.
Are you worried about her health? No.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I donât think thatâs any of our business. Please leave the door open on your way out.â
GhostPartical@reddit
That's funny, cause I've worked both blue collar and white collar type jobs for the past 25 years and only 2 places I've ever worked didn't require a drug test.

Good luck hiring and keeping Dallas Cops. Theyâll just go to cities where they can enforce the law and not be punished for enforcing the law.
HBKdfw@reddit
âEnforcing the lawâ = taking someoneâs liberty because they inhaled a plant that makes jokes funnier and music better.
Good riddance to any cops who would quit over that.

I thought it was already decriminalized up to 2oz or something like that in Dallas County already??
SiriusSlytherinSnake@reddit
This decriminalized 4 oz. DPD was against it. Saying that's enough for someone to be selling it. And that MJ is absolutely a good reason for probable cause. Clearly the people think they're full of it.
Delicious_Necessary3@reddit
Whoa can we flip TX? Crossed fingers
Angry_Villagers@reddit
Thatâd be cool and all but Texas was already called for fascists before you typed this. Turd Cruz got reelected too. I have no hope that the republicans in charge would allow a free and fair election to happen and I anticipate Ken Paxton bragging about throwing the to Trump, again. Last time around he fucked with the votes in Houston to throw the election to Trump.
SiriusSlytherinSnake@reddit
I say this as someone who voted both ways today, I genuinely think the Republican party messed with the election. Perhaps not directly. But definitely did. And started with early voting. For a group that seems to refuse to denounce Russia and Putin, but say they hate communism... And then those communist countries are found to mess with the election by spreading false videos and allegations that make people believe Trump is being targeted and rally behind him more... The stories of Elon Must offer incentives to vote for Trump while himself being offered incentives. It's too much that seems to link up for the party to not seem suspicious to others.
Delicious_Necessary3@reddit
I saw this .. I can imagine them going Trump but I thought they'd at least get rid of cancun Twd. Fck fck
