Yeah I mean he's the age that athletes stop playing sports doing a job he'd probably been doing for 20 straight years that involves running people down and having to maintain a level of fitness as well as low pay and very narrow paths for advancement.

1) Just looked this up. Archie Bunker (and, presumably Edith) were supposed to be around 46 or 47 at the start of All in the Family. They easily looked 65.

2) Terry Bradshaw, rockin’ his bald head on the sidelines in his mid-30s
