If you've had carpal tunnel surgery, did you have it under local or general?

A niche-ish question here but I reckon it's a fairly common surgery so there might be people here who've had it. Everyone I know who has had it has had it under local. Anyone had a general anaesthetic for it?

My right hand was operated on under general 9 years ago. Totally painless, stitches out a few days later without the need for even a Paracetamol.

I’ve had both done at different times, plus a release on my right thumb tendon when they did my right hand. Unfortunately I couldn’t cope with the tugging feeling of having the first one done under local anaesthetic and had a panic attack during surgery so they gave me an unscheduled general. I had a scheduled general for the second one. It depends on how your mind works I guess - I’m likely autistic which might have had an influence on how I reacted. The operations were successful so I’m glad I had them done

I cannot cope with feelings like injections, pressure etc, due to my fibro. I have no pain tolerance and always pass out drom the pain whenever I have local anaesthetic procedures, so I'm hoping they will do it under general for me

Both done under local. Had the left done about 6 weeks after the right. Worst part was the needle for the local going in, and that wasn’t even that bad.

Talk to your surgeon about the pros and cons of each! Local has lots of advantages and I know people that have had this operation on local and they were fine

I had mine under general but I had an ulnar nerve release and a ganglion removed all in the same operation
