Home sick from school? About to spend some time with Bob? What game(s) did you hope to see played?

Oh dear sound effects lady!! Do I have 1 number right???
DarkRazer22@reddit
Remember when they would ask “Gentlemen do I have at least one number right?” Think got the ladies in there in the mid 90s.
LostMyPercolatorFish@reddit
Beep!
Ryuujin_13@reddit
I knew it was going to be a good day if 'Golden Road' made a rare appearance.
DarkRazer22@reddit
I remember when 5 digit cars would be on golden road. And it would be something to behold. As they were still somewhat rare. Hell of a lot of money back then.
Perdendosi@reddit
That seemed to have the highest value prizes.
Ryuujin_13@reddit
It did. Especially the last stop on the road. It always had something impressive in a pre-‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ gameshow world.
DTDePalma@reddit
Yep. Those are the three. I'd add Punch a Bunch and Super Ball.
Ok_I_Guess_Whatever@reddit
That was it! I couldn’t remember the name but yeaaaaah. Punching that paper out was so good.
LostMyPercolatorFish@reddit
Damn I forgot about the punch out one
Ok_I_Guess_Whatever@reddit
I lived for Plinko
I also loved when they did the games where they had to punch paper to get out what’s inside. I only have the vaguest recollection of it, but I found it so satisfying.
Distinct-Ad-267@reddit
Plinko! All the way and the Show Down!
high_everyone@reddit
I spent most of today watching Bob on Pluto TV.
fubo@reddit
... and have your pets spayed or neutered.
Cisru711@reddit
I also liked lucky 7 or whatever where you have to guess the cost of a car and you lose a dollar for each number off. Seemed pretty challenging.
GoatTnder@reddit
That one is so fun to watch, but I can't recall more than one or two people ever winning it. So damn hard!
Cisru711@reddit
Bob could get sassy when he pulled the dollars away
YorkiesandSneakers@reddit
Hill climber, plinko, putting
wheres_the_revolt@reddit
I was on TPIR about 15 years ago, won a bunch of stuff, got to the showcase and underbid by $10k lmao so much fun though
My game was switcheroo, and it was super easy. I really wanted plinko.
AltaBirdNerd@reddit
How do taxes work?
wheres_the_revolt@reddit
They send you a 1099 for the retail prices/cash value of whatever you won. Mine was worth about $10k total so I just added it to my taxes for that year and end up having to pay around $700.
bnjmnzs@reddit
I watch PIR every single day!!! It reminds me of being a kid growing up at my grandparents house while they used to babysit me when my dad went to work.
R0botDreamz@reddit
I swear to god I was the only one watching The People's Court with Judge Wapner. Everyone else was watching The Price is Right.
msgflava@reddit
I can almost taste the Sprite and Saltine crackers now.
corpsie666@reddit
Vernors and Saltines for Michiganders
aytchdave@reddit
Vernors is the truth and I’m not even from the Midwest.
DrenAss@reddit

Big_Monday4523@reddit
Canadian dry ginger ale and saltine crackers for me.
shittyshittycunt@reddit
I think we might have had the same grandma.
Gusto36@reddit
I just hoped they would be playing for a car! So many good games lol
Robinothoodie@reddit
It doesn't matter now 😓
Book_Nerd_1980@reddit
I can hear the yodels
Illustrated-skies@reddit
That gave me such anxiety!!!
Signal-Ant-1353@reddit
Same. As a little kid, I couldn't watch or listen to this game. It scared me. ☹️
rabidturbofox@reddit
Yodeler was my top fave. Made any sick day better.
EyelandBaby@reddit
Yo, dee yo dee yo, dee yo dee yo, dee yo de yooooo…
rebelopie@reddit
Apparently, fans have now named him "Cliff". Drew mentioned on a show I caught recently.
upstatestruggler@reddit
Drew doesn’t exist to me lmao in this house we are Bob and Bob only
rabidturbofox@reddit
Apropos!
healywylie@reddit
It was P.I.R. right into local news and a grilled cheese. 💥
Fruscione@reddit
Just to watch him fall over
mrmadchef@reddit
My favorite instance of that game, he was on his way up, (I think Drew was hosting by then) thought it was over, yodel guy got RIGHT TO THE EDGE and stopped.
sweetnourishinggruel@reddit
A while back I tracked down the source of the song. It a track called “On the Franches Mountains” from the late ‘50s album Swiss Mountain Music. I bought a copy on eBay and it’s delightful. I imagine some Goodson-Todman producer just pulled it out of the credenza in their den to put on air.
KingFumbles@reddit
Amazing
upstatestruggler@reddit
I’m dying love it
sweetnourishinggruel@reddit
The entire album kitschy and charming - like waiting for the Matterhorn at Disneyland. The photo of a band on the back cover even includes a guy in a bear costume!
wratz@reddit
Holy Shit! I can’t believe it’s a real song.
Book_Nerd_1980@reddit
Yes!!!! That’s it!!!
BEniceBAGECKA@reddit
I got STOKED when it came on not too long ago watching with my mom.
Nirvana1975@reddit
It's my ringtone!
Sensitive-Draw8208@reddit
It was punch a bunch and spelling bee for me, gotta spell CAR!
S1ayer@reddit
My home sick rotation was Who's The Boss, Dinosaurs, and Price Is Right. Then the soap operas would come on and I would go to sleep.
blue_suavitel@reddit
I watched Unsolved Mysteries when I was sick
forgetfulsue@reddit
Plinko, yodel dude, and the one where they got some money and would lose money for each number they were off by.
too_old_to_be_clever@reddit
Plinko always
nochickflickmoments@reddit
You were allowed to watch TV when you were sick? My mom said if I was watching TV I must not have been that sick. I had to be close to death to even stay home.
Ok_Passage_7151@reddit
My mom would rent me 3 amazing action movies. Anything with Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Norris, or Dolf were always clutch.
BitCurious8598@reddit
I can hear the music right now! Yo dee doo dee 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
themoonhasgone@reddit
plinko was my favorite and I don't want to die without playing it
voteblue18@reddit
The yodeling cliff hanger and punch a bunch were favorites.
I hated Plinko, still do. It’s dumb and completely random. There is no skill to it whatsoever, pure luck. I never understood why it was so popular.
IronbAllsmcginty78@reddit
I dunno but when the stories come on it's Naptime
johndicks80@reddit
We didn’t have a TV until the mid 90s. So nothing.
Nonsenseinabag@reddit
Cliff Hangers for sure, I loved the little yodel song they played as he climbed up the mountain. Also it seemed like they didn't roll that one out very often so it felt special.
DrenAss@reddit
I knew Plinko was a huge fan favorite but I had no idea so many of us loved the yodeling! I asked my husband this question without any of my input and he just started yodeling. 🤣 I loved it, but i didn't think it was super popular.
This sub is the best.
Dramatic-Dark-4046@reddit
The pics you have shown are all some classic faves, but I celebrate the entire catalog.
sailorlum@reddit
Same. I recently showed my daughter some clips from the Barker era and she loved the mountain one the best so far.
Interesting_Tea5715@reddit
Showcase was the best part for me.
One person always got the shit prizes while the other got a car and trips around the world. They also had a train, when that thing rolled out you know it was nothing but shit prizes.
FuzzyScarf@reddit
OK. The yodeling game scared me. I didn’t want him to fall off the mountain!
Plinko is my all time favorite.
garfodie81@reddit
Pluto has Bob era TPIR on 24/7. I’m talking pre-Rod Roddy old. The fashion and prizes blow my mind.
Embarrassed-Bike3450@reddit
There’s a 24 hour “Barker Era” Price is Right channel on Pluto!! It’s best when you need some comfort tv. Also, 24 hour Bob Ross!
Bird_Herder@reddit
I found that the other day and watched for a while. I did terrible. $700 for a coffee table in 1981?! I was bidding like $150. I guess inflation hasn't hit some things as badly as others.
IncognitoRanchDorito@reddit
$400 ceiling fans
upstatestruggler@reddit
Yeah I love that a microwave is like $1k but a whole ass car is like $2k
BigConstruction4247@reddit
You also have to remember that you had to guess the "actual retail price" which is a LOT higher than anyone has ever paid in a store.
teriKatty@reddit
I liked plinko and I liked Punch a Bunch. I also liked the showcase showdown at the end.
Aggravating-Moment-3@reddit
The one with the huge dice!! Those were the days!
Throwaway_inSC_79@reddit
Always Plinko. It reminded me of Kerplunk, and I never had that game.
JLLIndy@reddit
The one with the big check.
Steal-Your-Face77@reddit
I loved it when they passed on the first showcase in hopes of greener grass for the second, only for the first to be way better.
Lordmorgoth666@reddit
Yup. 1st showcase is luggage, a trip to 3 locations in Europe, and a new car.
“Imma pass on that Bob.”
2nd showcase: A microwave, coffee pot, grandfather clock, and an ugly sofa.
Steal-Your-Face77@reddit
haha, but now and then it was better. Just enough to make you have doubts.
liltooclinical@reddit
Plinko. Never enough. Like even when I got to watch it every day during the summer, it was never played enough!
TheJRKoff@reddit
golden road... it was always a big prize
the game i hated was the check game
Tony_Tanna78@reddit
Plinko, Cliff Hangers, Golden Road, Dice Game, and Lucky Seven.
Bright_Respect_1279@reddit
Lucky to have played on that set as a child!! My Dad worked at CBS, so my sister and I always loved spinning the wheel if it wasn't locked when our Dad took us with him to work on the weekend. It's very heavy and hard to get it to go all the way around (maybe because I was a kid?? Heh). Plinko was my favorite game. 😍
upstatestruggler@reddit
You are the envy of this sub today
leffertsave@reddit
The yodeling game gave me anxiety as a 7-year-old because it was about a guy possibly dying. I think that’s reason I couldn’t get into it. Am I the only one?
For a while, I thought I was the only one who would put on my Sunday suit, grab the thin antenna off of an old TV and pretend it was Bob’s mic and pretend I was Bob, but I’ve met a couple people later in life who told me they did the same thing.
upstatestruggler@reddit
Lmaoooo that skinny ass microphone
rialucia@reddit
I loved me some Plinko, but I didn’t really have a favorite game. I was just happy to be watching. When I got Covid for the first time earlier this year, I watched hours of The Price is Right on the Roku channel and it was amazing. So comforting. It almost made being sick and miserable worth it!
Parisian_Nightsuit@reddit
Does the Roku channel of TPIR ever show Rod Roddy episodes? Any time I come across it, it’s pre Rod Roddy era and I just want to see that guy and his awesome wacky suits!
upstatestruggler@reddit
I saw one the other day where Rod and one of the beauties were the featured players in the showcase showdown and it was amazing
Echterspieler@reddit
cliffhanger. I liked to se the little guy fall off the mountain lol. plinko was also fun
Dtidder1@reddit
One putt… Or two!
smcg_az@reddit (OP)
I always appreciated second chances
killerwhaletank@reddit
Back when COVID was still prompting this show to not have a full audience, I auditioned for it. What pushed me over the edge was my ability to yodel this song perfectly. Never got the call, sadly. But kept getting told I’m in the queue, whatever that meant!
JudgmentalBeef@reddit
I was always a big fan of Punch-A-Bunch and Pathfinder
Lightning_35@reddit
I’d kill for a Showcase Showdown
corpsie666@reddit
Plinko was my only favorite. It was all action and no pauses for thinking.
I also liked how the disc would randomly launch way off a pin like it was a super-pin.
funnyname5674@reddit
This is kind of mean but I always hoped for the blank check game. Nobody knew how to play, it forced nervous people to do math, and people rarely won. I swear that game was meant to embarrass people. Absolute shitshow and they kept that game around for years
Parisian_Nightsuit@reddit
I always liked the big feather pen they used for that game.
Hiciao@reddit
I loved this show so much growing up. I watched it during the summer too. My mom always thought of it as an old person show and thought it was strange that her 11 year old watched it.
I ended up getting to be in the audience one week before Bob retired. One of the more exciting moments in my life.
Parisian_Nightsuit@reddit
I went in ‘04 and it was awesome. I didn’t get to be a contestant but won a $100 raffle at the end of the show. It came with an autographed photo of Bob Barker with his dog. I still got it.
cassandradancer@reddit
You showed them!!! I was also so good a guessing American grocery prices lol plinko was always exciting but i was partial to the yodeler.
dstommie@reddit
This is what being home sick was all about.
HappySkullsplitter@reddit
I'm here for the wheel, it looked like it was kind of hard to spin sometimes
I remember seeing a short lady jump in order to grab higher on the wheel to hopefully make it spin faster lol
Peixao131@reddit
Loved plinko
SadAcanthocephala521@reddit
Plinko was one of my favs, along with the Yoddler.
justforthis2024@reddit
Your post is my top three in correct order.
Plinko is hands-down the greatest Price game ever.
MorindaDedley@reddit
I had a plinko board built for a an event. One of the best work days of my career.
cesare980@reddit
Lol those are literally my top 3.
longirons6@reddit
Hot tub! The girls always got into bikinis!
TheLastBlakist@reddit
Plinko, that yodle game, the price guesser/high-low were all fun.
Mordecai3fngerBrown@reddit
I heard that the wheel was filled with blood.
Baby_Button_Eyes@reddit
Plinko, the Hole in One Golf, the Mountaineer Yodeler, and the one where you had to get the right huge key or combination to this massive safe.
nekohako@reddit
Safe Crackers, I think?
Baby_Button_Eyes@reddit
Yeah, I think! I just loved the suspense of them turning that key and if that huge safe door would open for them!!
langley10@reddit
Plinking always… pathfinder was another fav just for the wrong guess sound.
wonkasmiata@reddit
i always loved the hole in one golf. Bob would sometimes show off his putting skills and i think it if you missed you got another chance
Soul_Champion@reddit
Plinko
creddittor216@reddit
Am I the only one who never watched The Price is Right when I stayed home sick from school?
BigConstruction4247@reddit
paulster2626@reddit
Yep. There is always one.
The question is though, what did you watch? It’s not like there were many options…
LostMyPercolatorFish@reddit
Kids shows, then game shows, then nap through the soaps, then watch the ‘adult’ talk shows until parents come home to scold you for watching tv instead of laying in bed on deaths doorstep
Malcolm_Y@reddit
Do y'all remember when Wheel of Fortune gave out prizes, and had a rotating stage with prizes the contestants could choose from?
Agitated_Earth_3637@reddit
Hole in One (or Two)
SyllabubWeak@reddit
The (or 2) button never stopped being awesome
urine-monkey@reddit
Super Ball. Basically their version of skeeball
SanPadrigo@reddit
Unpopular opinion but Plinko kinda sucks. It’s one of the only pricing games in which you could do everything right and still walk away with nothing. And Punch-A-Bunch money should’ve been cumulative, not a single choice.
Lordmorgoth666@reddit
Plinko sucked as a game for contestants but it was fun for the audience. For whatever reason it was entertaining to watch the pucks bounce and guess where they’ll land.
Mackheath1@reddit
It is exactly Plinko for me. A miracle I didn't become a gambling addict when I grew up - so little effort to win money.
Christie318@reddit
Pinko was my favorite.
LostMyPercolatorFish@reddit
You got them all; plinko, climber, golf… and the one where they switch the numbers around and Bob says “ladies do we have one number right?” Then the car horn beeps if they do… always loved that one 🤣🤷♂️
Delgadoduvidoso@reddit
Card Game, Cliffhangers, Dice Game, Gridlock, Plinko, Punch-a-bunch, Safecrackers, Super Ball
BillCharming1905@reddit
This was the way ….
burnednotdestroyed@reddit
Plinko, Cliffhanger, Dice game, Golden Road!
Intelligent-Invite79@reddit
Always plinko, that and the putting game.
slackerdc@reddit
Temptation. Bob would draw out revealing the last number as long as he could and it was always funny.
Brave_Experience8634@reddit
Plinko was sooo exciting
crackedtooth163@reddit
Plinko. Me and grandma's favorite!

cacecil1@reddit
Plinko and the mountain climber one for sure
HollyCalamity@reddit
This is it.

Quixotegut@reddit
PLINKO!
imadork1970@reddit
mountain climber
hitliquor999@reddit
These were the best.
The worst games were the ones where they were short on time and they just phoned it in like, “One of these prizes is $2,738, which one is it?”
IncognitoRanchDorito@reddit
Those three plus the over/under dice game to win a car
Librarian-Voter@reddit
Plinko is unironically my analogy for God and existence, but without the money at the bottom.
Atillion@reddit
The yodel guy
ImitationCheesequake@reddit
You got all of them, those were my absolute favorites, and then Family Feud to follow.
midnight-dour@reddit
Plinko! But really, I was mostly watching for Janice.
Larkfin@reddit
Plinko was the best, an episode without Plinko was an inferior episode.
I made a Plinko board for a math fair, which doubled as a nail bed for physics too.
HeyKayRenee@reddit
Definitely the yodel game! Got me hype each time!
cmacfarland64@reddit
Plinko!
Imaginary_Attempt_82@reddit
Definitely Cliff Hangers.
QuikAuxFraises@reddit
Cliff Hangers and hoping to see it fall
