DIMM is the form factor, just like SIMM. SDRAM and EDO are the types of memory chips. You can have an an SDRAM DIMM and an EDO DIMM. The latter were very rare because they were a cheaper alternative to SDRAM when it first came out, and there were motherboards that could accept both SDRAM and EDO RAM in their DIMM slots.
Not convinced it was a cheaper alternative, though they did come out in the same time frame, SDRAM in 1992 by Samsung, DIMM in 1993 by JEDEC. Many computers used EDO DIMMs, for example many Power Macs, name brand PCs like the Dell Optiplex GXi, servers & workstations, etc. Though whitebox PCs and self build PCs basically always used SIMM pairs in those days.
A lot of these machines were incompatible with SDRAM and came out before SDRAM became mainstream. SDRAM became usable in PCs and Macs in the mid 1990s, for example Intel introduced support with the 430VX in 1996, Apple basically introduced it with the PowerMac G3 in 1997, though you could use SDRAM as video memory in the Power Mac 4400 in 1996.
Haha, I made a bet with myself if it would get commented :) I took the first few pics using the lines, so I kept using it. I do get sponsored by NCR though. They pay me every month to move my muscles a little bit..
I worked for them for about three years as a CE... I liked the work I did, but my manager, dispatch, and corporate had some very unrealistic expectations for a human.
That's not too bad. Ticket quota was 6 per day for me.
I had a hard time with the all over the place schedule, got tired of working holidays and all weekends, working 50-60+ hours a week, and never knowing when I would get off work. It's fine if you don't have a life outside of work, but there's more to my life than my job.
I haven't even seen a 5 1/4 floppy disk irl :(
I'm very interested in vintage computers, but I'm broke. All my old computers are gifted by friends or family and oldest of them is only from 2003.
I hate how expensive this hobby has become, people on eBay are fucking crazy

What's the type of module in picture 13? I don't think I've seen that form factor before.
liebeg@reddit
ddr2 looks the cleanest to me. ddr4 and ddr5 are trying to hard.
paprok@reddit
you're missing SIPP and DIP.
SIPP was kinda niche, but was used for a while nontheless.
starcube@reddit
You're missing the elusive EDO DIMM from around 1996-1997.
boluserectus@reddit (OP)
Picture 8 had a SDRam, also called DIMM, with EDO? I'm no expert, if I'm wrong please make me smarter.

I'm a FE, but in the networking part. 1 job a day mostly.. Such jobs can take 2 hours, or 10.

BTW, Happy Cake Day!

Now you just need ISA expansion card memory

I know they exist, but never saw one irl..
