Anon should have just asked the courier to leave parcel outside because of any random excuse like he's naked or whatever.
Courier won't have a picture with anon in it as proof of delivery.
Contact the company that you bought the item from, say the tracking shows delivered with picture of front door, but there is no package in front of your door.
Porch pirates must have gotten to it.
Bad courier for leaving the package in an unsafe area.
Shipping company sends another item to anon, and claims the loss from delivery company since they misdelivered.
Delivery company gets paid back by their insurance.
No it's not a scam. Not even remotely. Anon is saying "i offer this product in exchange for 200 dollars". The other guy says "ok, i will give you those 200 dollars for the item." The exchange is made. Each person is getting what they asked for. How is that a scam? Would it also be a scam to sell something he got for 50 for 200? Got at 100 for 200? 150 for 200? 190? 199?
Always document every thing you package and sell. Take a video of the packaging process and shipping it. Then if you get a return video you opening it. Submit evidence to ebay. Get money back, cx likely to face criminal charges, as this is theft. I knew someone who used to scam returns like this, she ended up getting charged with grand theft and some other stuff(total returns ended up being thousands of dollars).
Go Pro all the way from packing to post office for me if it’s an expensive item, as well as really obvious packing (sometimes with duct tape) that will make tampering obvious, trust NOBODY.
I'm so glad I did this because Samsung lost my trade-in order, and I had to fight them tooth and nail for weeks. Even with video evidence, a receipt and tracking info showing my phones were delivered to them, they still claimed they never received them. I had to eventually tell them to send my phones that I shipped back to me or I would consider it theft of my property, and wow wouldn't you know it my trade-in discounts got applied immediately.
Tl;dr don't ever use the trade-in service with Samsung, they have the worst customer service
Shouldn't packages be weighted and measured before mailing them? You can just show a paper that states that package that was sent was heavier than you received back. At least it's how it works in Russia.
ProfessionalMcUseful@reddit
Anon games the system then malds when someone else games the system.
Frequent_Dig1934@reddit
Well tbf anon "gamed the system" by just thrifting and applying as many discounts as possible, the other guy straight up scammed him.

Anon now has 2 items for the price of one.
NuclearWinter_101@reddit
Yeah but what if the courier gets show in the head on the way there?
Frequent_Dig1934@reddit
So the solution to fix a guy scamming anon is for anon to scam a completely unrelated courier?
Kelainefes@reddit
Scam is a big word, nobody is losing anything in the my scenario.
Frequent_Dig1934@reddit
Well the courier may lose his job.
k410n@reddit
Selling something he got for 20 for 200 is a scam too. And if you think: "but that's how our economic system works" you are on the right track.

Anon didn’t learn the art of filming himself packing and posting it eh
Kelainefes@reddit
Doesn't prove anything.
You could film yourself packing and shipping, but you could have switched the package before going to the post office.

Shiiiet, gotta invest 3000 usd into a new gopro to not get scammed on aliexpress (I buy items up to 50 usd there).
Consistent_Ant_8903@reddit
Nah just get an Aliexpress gopro (duct tape a webcam from 2009 to your forehead)

bigmt99@reddit
I assume the scammer used the newspaper to avoid the weight issue otherwise he wouldn’t have bothered and just sent back an empty box
clotifoth@reddit
eBay fraud is HUGE from Russia.
You will not receive your product.
PHAT_BOOTY@reddit
Wow I got lucky then. I once ordered a hat off of eBay, I didn’t realize it was from Russia.
I got the hat as expected.
CyberBed@reddit
I was talking about local services like avito. If it's international then there's 90% chance you can't do anything if you get scammed.
Kelainefes@reddit
What if the scammer weighs the package too, and fills it up to the same weight?
CyberBed@reddit
Then you'll be scammed. I remember how there was a PS4 scam. Scammers put bricks or other junk inside ps4 boxes and sold tham as real ps4.
MindGoblin@reddit
So you're saying I need to weigh the package when it arrives and fill it with trash to match the arrival weight?
fangpi2023@reddit
Or you use Anon's methods to secure another copy of the item for a cheaper price, then put the cheaper one in the package.
Kelainefes@reddit
Yeah, if you can find the item for a cheap price, why not just keep that and skip the scam lmao
SpaceBug176@reddit
You wouldn't be committing a crime in that case.
Kelainefes@reddit
You can never do enough crime.
