Wanted to build a fun range toy…. Having issues installing the RED Brake 7.62MM -Nitride
Diamondback 308 16” // RED Brake 7.62MM -Nitride (Barrel + Red Brake are both 5/8 x 24 TPI)
Kinda a newbie but I’ve changed muzzle breaks once on my AR15 and didn’t have an issue…runs great.
I’m having quite some difficulty installing this brake. When hand installing it gets to the 9’o clock position(see pics) and I have to spin almost 3/4 of a cycle to get perfect timing….i can only get about another 45 degrees before it locks up and I’m talking like 150 plus pounds of force (ALL MY MIGHT) to get this off with a hand armorer's wrench.
I put it in my sh*tty vise…it does not want to go past that 45 degrees. Should I pull out a huge wrench to get more leverage and just tighten this to all hell? Or take it to a pro and see what they say?
Any tips for a young buck will be greatly appreciated!

You need shims

10-4 thank you, just bought some off Amazon. Also just treat them like crush washers? Haven’t used them before.
I got Shims ranging from .001-.020. Should that work?

This is called timing your muzzle device. I’m sure there are better instructions on the internet.
Essentially it’s just like washers. Back that device out until it’s configured the way you want. Maybe mage witness mark to return to that point.
Then fill that gap with washers.

Sounds good I’ll give it a shot, thank you !
