Long term project

My 1966 Impala that’s been in the family for close to 40 years now, hasn’t ran since I’ve been alive. Built the air ride system myself. 355ci 700r4 w/full manual valve body, 4 wheel disc brakes.

Admitting your time frame is the first step.

I’ve worked on it on and off for last 10 years between college, life and now fatherhood life. But I’ve decided to sell off projects I’ve lost attachment too so I can focus solely on this. I say I’m about $4500 and 2 years to get it to the point where the wife would be comfortable riding in it. Long term goal is to drive the entirety of Route 66 in it.

That’s awesome. I wish I had a project with meaning like that. When my grandfather passed I tried to get his old Ford but my uncle swooped in and took it because he “worked for Ford and knew all about it”… mind you, this was my aunts husband not my grandfathers son..

Oh yeah, tons of sentimental value, I grew up playing cops and robbers, race car driver etc in her all the time.

That air ride is badass btw.. me and a buddy of mine used to do suspension work on the side and we bagged a few trucks, his included. We were nervous as hell when we c notched the frame of his F150 🤣

I decided to put air ride on this because I fucking hate compressing springs 😂

lol gotta watch those valves freezing up in the winter though(depending on where you live)

"Long term" funny way of saying "multiple skills will be developed "

Only time and Money lol. It just needs a lot of work. I’m going to throw it back together and log on several thousand miles and then pull it all back apart fix the issues and “ finalize it” I’ve done alot of custom work to the chassis so it will probably take a while to dial in

Very cool! Naturally I gotta ask about doors

I do have them, I have a small garage so it makes it way easier to work on

Makes total sense. I should try that when doing interior work
