I live in Colorado and ate dry noodles for breakfast. It was mostly a depression meal but I suddenly feel a new sense of culture after reading your comment lol
I love one pack with the powder as a snack but it’s one pack, and at the end 80% of the seasoning is left in the bowl. 8, with sauce enough to bind all of the sodium is genuinely insane. It’s like drinking a cup of salt in water with some flour and sugar.
That’s weird as hell lol are you from the USA? I was in maximum security prison and commissary hot pots were $20, and there was a hot water fountain to share during rec twice a day.
That doesn’t make any sense to me, since max security has way more violence.
Your warden must’ve been dumb as hell lol. Anyone who is out of their mind enough to do something like that in a county jail wouldn’t be stopped by having no access to hot water.
There are many many ways to seriously injure an unsuspecting victim with little to no extra tools
I actually just watched a video about institutions in Texas and there jails are way behind they didn't get phones in there until like 2009 or something like that, so I believe you that's crazy
Yeah… tbf though you gotta realize that’s a hard topic to get support for. It should just be realized that private prisons are bad news for just about everyone involved. Not just the prisoners.
Dude firstly, he said county JAIL. Not the same as prison. Secondly, ITS TEXAS. THEY DONT EVEN GIVE YOU TOOTH BRUSHES. YEAH UTS FCking bad. I can go on about the treatment of prisoners for days.
Maybe county jail has less security so they worry more about people in holding? Jail can be an overnight hold for drunks/high people, so maybe the instances of "are you insane" type shenanigans were higher. No idea though
Yeah but if someone is insane enough to do something like that in county jail, and get themselves wrapped up in actual serious charges taking away hot water wouldn’t do anything to stop them from seriously injuring other inmates.
They could stick their fingernails in another dudes eyes potentially blinding them, or if they flip a plastic spork upside down and hold the end tightly it will definitely puncture skin.
WW2 1942 during the North Africa campaign the Brits kept sinking Italian supply ships. Of course the Itlaians rationed dry pasta to their men for food, but if fresh water was sunk and they couldn't get it from the locals (or they only got enough to drink, not cook pasta in, they'd crunch that shit.
And you're eating like that post 2000 at peace? Bruh
When you're locked up, the food they give you is horrible and not enough (I lost 40 pounds in 98 days) you'll eat anything you can get from commissary.
Ramen packets were currency - each one was worth a dollar.
If someone had something you wanted like cookies, you could offer them 4 or 5 Ramen.
Ppl even gambled with them playing spades (though they weren't supposed to).
If you were short on money, you could buy Ramen to trade for something better.
I remember "Ramen as currency" being a joke on Brooklyn 99 but I imagine that varies between states. Some states fund their prisons better than others. Like in Kentucky they gives inmates Playstations and iPads.
You can use hot water from the shower. IF it's working that is. Coffee and ramen not as bad as ya think. Every possible combination of food happens with inmates. A really popular one is making a "spread" of ramen, chili, meat saved from lunch, whatever else and throwing it on a tortilla. Plus using the good drink packs on your food to make it taste like something. Also coffee mixed with the medicine tasting drink packs they give out. The mango and coffee was actually delightful.
Yep, there's actually a snack in my country where it's meant to be eaten as dry noodles and it's a delicious salty fuck. The size became so much smaller over the years tho :D
Yes, but it’s usually specific brands of ramen that were made to be crushed up and eaten “raw.” For example, the WAI-WAI instant noodle was a common one that I used to eat as a dry snack as a kid, and it had specific instructions on the back to be eaten that way. You really wouldn’t eat, like, a maruchan instant ramen dry in the same way.
My brother ate this a lot when we were growing up. He was a super weeb (I say that lovingly lol, I was a bit of a weeb too), I had never considered where he learned it from.
In elementary school, we had ramen banned from the classroom because a majority of us would eat ramen dry, and ended up with ants. So delicious, all crunchy and salty.
Unless it’s a giant plate, it looks like they might have just broken apart one packet, and are using them like a cracker, but regardless of what they’re doing, it’s insane.
Same, I used to break all the ramen in the bag by smashing it all up, then putting all the seasoning in too. It’s so good but now that I’m older I’m like damn, that was all sodium lol
Thats quite common in Korea i think (i might be wrong in which country) and if you think, its the same sodium as if you put the seasoning in the cooked ramen
I feel shame even admitting this, but there's a technique: you drop the bag on the floor, seam side up, and gently roll the heel of your foot over to crush them up.
It's a common snack in Hawaii, though it's crumbled and shaken together in the ramen package and is more like eating pub mix/chex mix where the seasoning evenly coats all the noodle crumbles. I've mostly found it on the Mainland in areas with higher asian-american and pacific islander populations, like areas of CA and FL. I went to college in Oregon and has two hallmates who were also born and raised in Hawaii, different island, who also frequently snacked on it like I did. I was the only one with a car so when we went to stock up at the grocery store we'd usually split a big pack of original/soy sauce top ramen. That's the best one.
OP definitely presented it in the worst looking way, but I'm not familiar with sauces being put on it other than like spicy dry seasoning packets or occasionally some shakes of hot sauce. The noodles are actually crumbled up entirely though and mixed well, completely unlike OP's rendition.
I thought OP's food looked like shitty cake noodle at first 😅 Then I realized it was uncooked instant ramen. I'm born and raised from Hawaii and I totally ate crumbled dry ramen as a snack as a kid 😆
They literally sell this as snacks (w/o the sweet chili sauce ofc) in Asia. Like most, if not all, countries in east asia: the Koreans, Indonesians, Filipinos, Vietnamese, etc. have their own version of raw ramen snacks.
I can't imagine choosing that texture over other easily available snacks with similar ingredients. Are they the same things as in the typical ramen packaging?
Nah they're a little different, at least the ones I had. Didn't feel like I was just eating the exact same thing you'd get in a ramen pack. Thought they were pretty tasty and definitely understand going for them over snacks.
These are the brand I had, a Taiwanese guy I worked with brought them in one day: https://www.reddit.com/r/ramen/comments/dq3h6v/little_prince_brand_snack_noodles_the_quality/
When I was in middle school there was a craze where we would crush up the noodles, dump in the powder and shake it all together and eat it like a bag of chips or something. I feel like even that was a bit more refined and palatable than this.
My Chinese GF eats uncooked instant noodles as a snack and says it's normal there. Technically uncooked instant noodles are deep-fried crispy noodles so it makes more or less sense
I have cousins in Norway and when I went to visit them, they eat dry uncooked noodles like crisps/chips. Dump the flavour packet in and crush the noodles and go to town. It was actually pretty good
Honestly top Ramen chips are great, crush up the bag into bit sized bits and put in the seasoning, shake up the bag to coat the pieces. Delicious, but the sauce ruins it
when i was in school we used to bring packs of ramen to school, crush them up in the bag, put the seasoning in, shake it up, and eat it like chips. and it slapped. the sweet chili sauce is kind of weird but otherwise…
Can I ask what is wrong with you? What is your relationship like with your dad? Is this a ploy for attention or are you just autistic? Necessary questions for research purposes, thanks for sharing!
lol i'm imaging a person who uses cum instead of water in all their cooking and they're also doing no nut november so they're just eating a bunch of dry noodles, rice, and pasta all month
Probably and since it's NNN he can't boil the ramen in his semen either. Must not have wanted to boil it in piss or other liquids and preferred it dry instead.
I also eat uncooked ramen with the dry flavouring. I usually make them into smaller pieces in the bag, put the flavouring in and shake it up til it’s all coated. It’s food 🙇🏻♀️
100%, it was my lunch most days in primary school. Poor people make do, and my little self made did (still does because a pack of 5 noodles is only $2)
Tought it was 1:3 ratio when uncooked ramens are served (1part broth pack pr 3 bricks of ramen) and that the chilli oils sometimes accompanied are optional.
Dude, heat up some(a little, like bottom of the cup little if you're eating them dry) water and turn that packet into a sauce. Instant noodles already have less nutritional value then their own packaging. You don't have to eat the powder dry. Wiping that stuff up alone will put you in the negatives.
Despite this just looking god awful that's SO much sodium
Looks like 8 packets of instant ramen seasoning.
Each packet is 2 servings of around 750mg each.
(750 x 2)x8 =12000mg of sodium...
Yooooo, I used to eat raw Ramen like that but I saw of video of a dude with a microscope and there bugs on that shit most of time, so boil that shit up
True ramen connoisseurs crush the ramen pack before applying the dry seasoning and eating it like chips/crackers. The wet seasoning stuff gets saved for when the water bill gets paid.
Even if this is just 1-2 packets of ramen broken up into smaller pieces, where TF are you getting that much of the ramen seasoning? And what have you done with all the other noodles!
I used to do this at school. Would take a packet of Maggi chicken noodles to school and pour the flavour packet in the bag eat them raw for lunch, so good! Especially all the crushed little bits and seasoning at the bottom of the pack at the end lol
I used to do something like this but not to this extent haha. If you get a packet of ramen, open it up like a bag of chips, take the seasonings out, crush the dry noodles inside the bag, then take the seasoning packet and pour however much you want in the bag of crushed noodles, then shake the bag up. Boom. Instant ramen flavored chips.
Friendly word of advice: before you open the ramen packets crush them with your hands, then open the package pour in the seasoning seal it up and shake vigorously.
I eat raw instant Ramen occasionally, but I break it up inside of the bag and then sprinkle the powder in and shake it. It’s almost like chips, really not as bad as it sounds.
Don't eat ramen or anything starchy uncooked it's loaded with bacillus. In general don't need a food that is assumed to be cooked because there are different hygiene standards for their manufacture
I love dry Ramen, but I don't eat it like this. I crush it up into smaller chunks inside the bag, pour in half the seasoning, and give it a good shake. It's kind of like ramen chips.
OP. I know that you know this isn’t a healthy meal. That’s fine I guess. But if you’re eating 8 packets of ramen seasoning in one sitting this is gonna be a deadly meal. I hope you’re throwing at least half of the ramen packets away, for the love of god
the dry noodles are fine, i love snacking on some dry koka noodles but with the powder on it???? does that not just coat your throat and make you choke?
Dry ramen snack packets have been a thing for a while now so this doesn't look odd to me tbh, if anyone is curious on trying a proper ramen snack I highly recommend Mamee noodle snacks! Just crunchy noodles with flavoured powder over it :D
Although I don’t do it, I get the concept of eating like crushed up uncooked ramen. But these aren’t crushed up so how is OP eating this? Just picking it up and taking bites out of it? You can’t cut it with a knife as it would just fall apart into tiny pieces. I’m so confused.
My partner will split a dry ramen in half so it's two big flat sides, put a slice of processed cheese inside and sprinkle on the flavour powder, and eat the entire thing like a sandwich
I usually eat the noodles bits that escape the pot when I'm putting them in. They're nice. Never considered eating the whole thing that way. I guess they're basically cooked already.

I have cousins in Norway and when I went to visit them, they eat dry uncooked noodles like crisps/chips. Dump the flavour packet in and crush the noodles and go to town. It was actually pretty good
ToyrewaDokoDeska@reddit
Honestly top Ramen chips are great, crush up the bag into bit sized bits and put in the seasoning, shake up the bag to coat the pieces. Delicious, but the sauce ruins it
TheTenaciousG@reddit
When I was in prison, I would just dip the ramen cakes in water, sprinkle the seasoning on it and munch on it as a snack

Dude, heat up some(a little, like bottom of the cup little if you're eating them dry) water and turn that packet into a sauce. OHHHH okay you've eaten it four times now. THAT'S why it looks like that - it's been regurgitated four times!

One of those things is at least 300 calories. Does anyone else think it’s crazy to eat 2400 calories of block o carbs in one sitting?
Critical_Hunter96@reddit
Forget the carbs, that's 7,000+mg of sodium in one meal!
GentrifriesGuy@reddit
CRONCHY msg shitz
whatisantilogic@reddit
You're home now. You don't have to eat prison charcuterie anymore.
Critical_Hunter96@reddit
Please if you are anywhere past 30 yo go get your blood pressure checked. That is an INSANE amount of salt.
UnusualPete@reddit
Uhh.... you missed a few steps.
ReceptionMuch3790@reddit
Yeah, I've done this too
DiabeticRhino97@reddit
This looks foul but I enjoy some dry ramen very frequently

This looks like what happens if you don't mix the spices/oil that come with the instant noodles.
Wait its not put in hot water either... do you like noodles crunchy?
TastyRiceKernal@reddit
The seasoning and all that salt is wild. Glad it works for you though. Simple and easy meals save time.
kayla-mg@reddit
This is very sad 😔
JanaCinnamon@reddit
I've had dry ramen before and that shit was dope. Put it in a salad instead of croutons.
overwhelmed_robin@reddit
This has got to be rage bait.
MyBeanYT@reddit
You scare me.
Epicat224@reddit
dude isn't the powder like, super potent
VexManiac@reddit
Dry ramen snack packets have been a thing for a while now so this doesn't look odd to me tbh, if anyone is curious on trying a proper ramen snack I highly recommend Mamee noodle snacks! Just crunchy noodles with flavoured powder over it :D
MachineSpirited7085@reddit
With a side of cold water please
Talullah_Belle@reddit

Although I don’t do it, I get the concept of eating like crushed up uncooked ramen. But these aren’t crushed up so how is OP eating this? Just picking it up and taking bites out of it? You can’t cut it with a knife as it would just fall apart into tiny pieces. I’m so confused.
NicoleArcher@reddit
That’s pretty gross. Even cooked that’s pretty gross
beedubbs@reddit
Holy sodium, Batman!
Gladiator-tstar@reddit
My partner will split a dry ramen in half so it's two big flat sides, put a slice of processed cheese inside and sprinkle on the flavour powder, and eat the entire thing like a sandwich
AltruisticSalamander@reddit
I usually eat the noodles bits that escape the pot when I'm putting them in. They're nice. Never considered eating the whole thing that way. I guess they're basically cooked already.
Healthy_Broccoli1927@reddit
You gonna have a stroke or heart attack eatin' all that shit bud
Khris777@reddit
Looks pretty good for having been eaten four times already.
