Because it was developed by a comparatively tiny eastern european studio with no marketing budget, making a brand new IP that no one knew beforehand.
Not by a huge studio, with a huge publisher, launching an "expected" sequel, of a solid franchise, with years to release demo/create hype, and launch with a huge marketing event.
The fact that those two had the same launch figures is damning.
They did have the super based CEO make some based statements which upset butthurt western gaming journalists/bloggers into giving him millions in free publicity.
Meh. I was never a big sonic fan, but sonic 1 was revolutionary for its time. The illusion of speed was a tech marvel for the hardware those dudes had.
2's dive into Dynasty Warriors combat and reusing the same assets over and over, while it got boring were accurate to the story they were telling. Just because it is bad game that does not make it BAD GAME.
And DA:I..... looked really good when it released, I guess. The call backs to DAO and 2 from your files were well done at least.
They also both had Dwarf bro Varric who really did a lot of heavy lifting to make me wanna see where the plot was going.
Ye I kinda agree that Varric carried DAI hard. Personally not a purist who says that only ME1 and DAO were the only good games but I find it sad the missed potential Bioware's franchise previously had. It's obvious that both DA2 and ME3 needed more dev time, with the 1st half being pretty well paced while the 2nd half + endings devolving to a horrble mess. ME3's combat in particular was fun for me that I replayed it a lot more than ME1 and ME2 which had segments that I dreaded revisiting without lowering the difficulty.
ME3 breaks my heart because it started out so damn amazing and then it drags a little in the middle which hey fair it happens.... then pick your color ending.
I'll never forget being so annoyed by the forced multiplayer insertion - yet that is what I had the most fun with my far. Vanguard in multi was a blast. Also the Krogan was a beast.
There really weren’t a lot of call backs to DAO tho. I remember just a few references to the origin games and a character model substitution based upon what you did in origins.
For some reason people remember those games as super ground breaking despite them being okay to decent at best.
I only really liked those games because I love high fantasy type of stuff, the Witcher, BG3, and lord of the rings type of games have always held my imagination.
And honestly, I think DAI gets too high of praise. It came out in like… 2013? Which if I recall was a pretty poor year for games in general which is why a sort of meh open world single player MMO won game of the year.
If they simply got rid of the MMO elements in DAI and made it a linear game like the first two were I would have loved it. I don’t buy single player games to grind out random shit. I buy them for the story and/or just general game play.
I haven’t played DAVG yet but the game play looks pretty fun and I like that it seems to be a linear non-open world style game so I’ll probably pick it up.
Lately bought it like 2 years ago on sale and it's just sitting there in my gog library. I played a bit of a y'arred version on a laptop that had no business running it and it ran like puke from a hosepipe, but now I have a decent pc and I just keep thinking 'oh yeah I should give that a go' but never doing anything about it
Matt_2504@reddit
Kingdom come deliverance is one of the best games ever made why would that be a comparison
DesperateBasil6012@reddit
It is? Its decent but the combat is kind of boring imo, its too tedious.
SalvationSycamore@reddit
They also made me run to check if the sequel just dropped even though I knew it wasn't coming till next year. Anon is a bastard.
inebriusmaximus@reddit
In all fairness I think OG release date was around this time until it got pushed back.
Dark_Matter_Guy@reddit
I wouldn't be that optimistic about the next game.
The company got bought and grew and most likely not in a good way.
AOC_Gynecologist@reddit
yeah but same guy is still in charge so there is hope

Also i think kcd is more niche
Its one of my fav games
inebriusmaximus@reddit
Same, I am legit excited for the sequel

Because it's a niche game from an indie studio.

Jesus Christ be praised!

That's what happens if you appeal to furries.

The chao garden was a good game. Honestly I' play a game that was just that without the whole Sonic part.

>do the push ups bigot
Got me good, holy shit that cutscene. I thought it was a joke.
Absolutemehguy@reddit
There's no way that was said, you're just making shit up now... are you?
MyDogIsDaBest@reddit
Specifically what I said wasn't, but it references a cutscene that has to be seen to be believed.
iiTryhard@reddit
Not verbatim but the character is told to do push ups to repent for misgendering a character
Absolutemehguy@reddit
I hate today.
Deimos_Aeternum@reddit
"How are you so jacked?"
"I'm a bigot"
lurker_archon@reddit
"Oh no, I accidentally misgendered someone. Let me do this dopamine-inducing healthy activity to punish myself, oh no I've been soooo baaaad"
Dark_Matter_Guy@reddit
Based out of this world!
UsrnameInATrenchcoat@reddit
It actually said that?
cope-seeethe-dilate@reddit
[no but it's just as cringe]. Actual scene starts at 0:58
AdultGrapeJuice@reddit
No way that's an actual quote. I refuse to believe it.
Dogwhisperer_210@reddit
Imagine explaining this entire meme to someone not even 10 years ago
MausBomb@reddit
They basically took Krem a side character that only existed to lore dump about trans stuff and made them a central character.
Limp_Custard6943@reddit
I like the combat
FireWater107@reddit
It's been continuously fun to watch franchises crash and burn that I never had any interest in.
I think I played some of one of the Dragon Age games. Rented it. Back when Blockbuster was still a thing.
thebigautismo@reddit
Did the Internet not like inquisition? Tbh it was my first one and I liked it ayed origins as well and liked it too
A_Blue_Potion@reddit
I only enjoyed the one with the regard who yells "ENCHANTMENT!"
AOC_Gynecologist@reddit
Finally, a character that represents me personally.
Ziegelphilie@reddit
isn't that will smith's son
ValiantFury14@reddit
Shows how good the first game was that people are still buying these shit games in the vain hope of getting another experience as good as origins.
acart005@reddit

ME3 Multiplayer was lowkey legendary.
Had so much fun playing as the Geth Tank mofo, as well as the Krogan Warlord. Also loved/hated the collector faction. Good times.
Vingle@reddit
Legendary edition not having the multiplayer is some top tier bullshit
LineRemote7950@reddit
The omega DLC was a fucking blast tho. And then being able to pick up flare as an ability is dope as hell.

For me it was Origins>2>Inquisition in that order.
Couldn’t enjoy inquisition enough to ever finish it. Didn’t like the massive open world. Didn’t work for me with that style of game.
It also felt like some core rpg stuff was stripped that still partially existed in 2. Not sure what.
DecievedRTS@reddit
Couldn't stomach 2 long enough to complete it. I finished the others, so I'd swap 2 and inquisition.
Jecka09@reddit
Yeah we each have our own preferences. I think yours are more common than mine.
iiTryhard@reddit
Once the first few quests in inquisition were literal MMO fetch quests, I was out
Jecka09@reddit
I think that’s one big part of it for me. It doesn’t feel like a single player rpg.
