How's the fatality rate holding up?

I was assured it was 50% by some here and on other forums?

Got downvoted for suggesting it was not anywhere near that high in developed countries...

One problem is that CFR can shift dramatically if hospitals, ambulance services, and etc get overwhelmed. Another problem is that if the virus mutates to spread H2H or mixes with another virus in pigs & jumps to us, it might have the feared disease severity. Also, we don’t know much about recent bird flu cases- we don’t get any kind of clear plentiful information like we got with early covid cases. Also, farm workers are catching the virus and (I’m assuming) are physically strong healthy people who might do better with the virus.

Lastly, if this virus does become a problem and the CFR is high, a large portion of our country will likely refuse to believe it… resulting in catastrophic loss of life…

People are already pulling out the "WE WILL NOT COMPLY" and a few states are telling the CDC to get bent in terms of testing at all, so I wouldn't be surprised if people say a vaccine is what's REALLY killing people instead of H5

Yup, the population was a lot more trusting of the government in 1919 than they are post-COVID. With how politicized COVID became, there's less trust of the government and in turn, a lot more people who may refuse to take any precautions once news comes out that H5 has gone H2H

The 3 in Washington state are related to infected poultry California has been having its dairy herds infected with H5N1 and workers have been contracting it from said dairy so unless otherwise specified it seems like another case of avian/diary cow transmission
