That’s dope af! Where did you get that!
Smart_Outside1316@reddit
Yo Nikita, is it you? From jdm boy from instagram?
NiknakSi@reddit (OP)
I don't think so but my friend shared a picture of the car and a link to the video yesterday on Instagram so it's probably their profile you've seen :)
tmaxxkid@reddit
What do these go for ?
zeno0771@reddit
Depends on how you spec it. Entry-level starts at about $38,000 and the top-line model starts at $75,452 (current rate of exchange), before options.

I've had a very sub-optimal second half of the year after my yellow Caterham was rear-ended, but all is well now its replacement has arived. I'm chuffed to bits with it, absolutely brilliant fun and I can't wait to get it on track next year!
Short video of the car and some tech chat here, please enjoy :)

You got into an accident in a Lotus 7 replica and survived? That's something to celebrate in its own right.
Love me 7s, a car all driving enthusiasts should own once.

😂
Couldn't agree more. It's a surgeon's scalpel in a world of spoons.

Congrats!

Very cool. What's it like as a road car?
NiknakSi@reddit (OP)
That's right, he only managed 560 miles with it but I'm sure it was well loved. On the road it's okay. The suspension is much better than I expected (coming from well tuned Nitrons) and the gearbox is not really too noisey, but it's a bit clunky at part-throttle. I think the diff could benefit from some fettling which would make it all a bit more pleasant.
But nevermind that when you're on it and banging through the gears - it's absolutely brilliant!!
markcorrigans_boiler@reddit
Nice.
I've always fancied a Caterham bit have never got my head around the spec I'd want. I think fast road would be my goal over track focus.
NiknakSi@reddit (OP)
You'd probably really get on with a 420R with the normal 5 or 6 speed H-pattern gearboxes and the slightly softer suspension, and no roll cage. They're incredibly capable but still make great road cars and great for touring too.
markcorrigans_boiler@reddit
Sounds good.
200+ hp in one of those sounds like plenty. 100 would probably be enough.
Snotaap@reddit
Right, now to make the necessary modifications and then drive across half a continent of your choosing.
NiknakSi@reddit (OP)
Does putting it in the back of a trailer and towing it count as a necessary modification? Asking for a friend..
Snotaap@reddit
Only if the trailer is hitched to a VW Beetle
arup02@reddit
Gorgeous, how is it like to drive on twisties?
NiknakSi@reddit (OP)
It's on rails. We don't really have the greatest weather for it this time of year in the UK and I'm on the more heavily treaded tyre option too at the moment, but despite all of that it's fantastic as any Caterham should be.
arup02@reddit
Awesome man, enjoy.

Oh the candy red has my jaw dropped
NiknakSi@reddit (OP)
The pictures/video do it no justice unfortunately, it's absolutely stunning. Alfa Romeo Rosso Competizione Pearl, same as on many new Gulia Quadrifoglios.
JoeUnderscoreUgly@reddit
You got it specced like that damn.
Don't you hurt it! (Or do it's your track toy after all)
NiknakSi@reddit (OP)
I'm going to take good care of it!
sprucay@reddit
I drove a caterham (a lesser one than this) at a supercar day after having driven a Ferrari and a Skyline. I had to take my shoes off so I didn't press two pedals at once. It was easily the best car of the day and ridiculously good fun.
All this is to say I'm very jealous, fair play to you

That thing looks fun as hell. So jealus
