I'd use the motor in a better frame. If the powerplant is in great shape, find another with a blown motor for cheap.

Buddy of mine bought two Impreza STIs back in 2009. Both were 2008s, barely had any miles. One was t-boned badly, but had a perfect engine with barely 2k miles. The other was in perfect shape except the motor had been ruined by someone accidentally using diesel in it. He spent less than ten grand, and a few weekends, to have a practically new STI.

Cat S cars are only economical to repair if you are in the trade. You need the tools, space and trade accounts for trade priced parts to make it worthwhile.

Or you are Mat Armstrong / a similarly successful YouTuber with all the infrastructure and can monetise the process.

For the average Joe, don't bother.

Something being written off means it is generally beyond economic repair.

Unless you are a mechanic with your own shop and at-cost parts and labour - no. Run away. Run away quickly.
