I have shot steel targets with them. Great pistol and a no brainer for $219. I own one now and just ordered 3 more, one for a permanent car gun for myself and gifts for my two brothers.

Lots of deals on these guns out there, thought to continue the conversation
IndependentLabResult@reddit
Only downside I see is the hinged trigger on the 1.0 is garbage.
luvmehatemefme@reddit
I dont understand all the hate on the hinged trigger. Both mine on my 2.0s are damn good. Maybe the 1.0 were worse...
jellystone_thief@reddit
They are worse. 2.0 is fine.
azgunnit@reddit
The change in the 2.0 has nothing to do with the hinged trigger. The trigger is identical.
The sear interface was what was changed.
jellystone_thief@reddit
Maybe that’s what it is then, or it’s just psychological for me, I have a couple of the 2.0s and the competitor and I like them, but my friend has a launch m&p9 and it felt like to me the trigger itself wasn’t the same.
azgunnit@reddit
Look where the trigger bar meets the sear housing on your 2.0. That little lever it hits to trip the sear wasn't the on the original. Instead, the trigger bar wedged under the sear and pushed on it.
The competitor is a little different too, as they updated the design on the Metal guns.
jellystone_thief@reddit
I will look when I get back home at the end of the week, I believe you and I’m happy to learn new things. I’ll have to remind myself Saturday morning to take them out and see.
azgunnit@reddit
People hate on the hinge because they don't understand it has nothing to do with the mushy feeling. They changed how the trigger bar disengages the sear in the 2.0 which was why the 2.0 feels better.
LoadLaughLove@reddit
It's so insanely easy to DIY that trigger to be incredible
IndependentLabResult@reddit
you mean with an apex kit? easy yes, but thats added cost and puts you into P-10c territory regarding price.
LoadLaughLove@reddit
No I mean with a Dremel and 10 minutes

A guide came out in forums years ago, for the 1.0 back then, was in PowerPoint form
marylandmymaryland@reddit
Word, I’ll check it out. I’ve had a 1.0 in 40sw for years now and would love to fiddle with it.
azgunnit@reddit
Search youtube for "DIY trigger job M&P". There's a bunch of different videos.
But the basics are: polish safety block, polish trigger bar, polish sear, drop in some springs from Mcarbo or Apex.
You could also upgrade to 2.0 internals for about $50 (complete sear housing, trigger bar, springs)
lobstibb@reddit (OP)
It’s an ok trigger for a $220ish gun
ComfortableActuator@reddit
5-10 years ago? maybe. But now we're in the world of new guns for $299 with optics cuts, glock compatibility, threaded barrels, CZ precision, in more common calibers...not saying if you want an M&P in 40 this is a bad price, but its a lot stacked against it - and I'm a 40 fan. If this was under 190? Sure.
IndependentLabResult@reddit
Going to disagree, the hinge mechanism combined with how mushy it is is probably one of the worst striker fired triggers ive ever felt.
anothercarguy@reddit
But $220 though.
NeJamaisEncaisser@reddit
Can a thumb safety be added to this?
azgunnit@reddit
Yes, by changing the sear housing out. But...gross.
anothercarguy@reddit
Gross
sickels61@reddit
If these came with more mags it'd be a good deal. SMITH mags are fuck your cousin expensive, once you buy another mag or two you can find these in LGS especially in this caliber around 3 with more mags
KonkeyDong16@reddit
I’ve been running M&Ps for years and the mags are pretty cheap. You can get them regularly for $25 each brand new.
sickels61@reddit
Please share, I too am a lifelong MP user and yes I've bought them on sale for around that price but typically they're full retail. I can see a large amount of used mags flooding the markets based on the rapid decline of 40 soonish but who knows. My mere point is this is not a good deal for something that you don't really know what you're gonna get.
Coyoteishere@reddit
A couple years back (I posted the deal here so should be in my post history) Aim had used .40 mags for $9.99. I stocked up and all had little to no wear that I could find. Me test fitting them a few times put more wear than was there. Anyways, they’ve had them a couple times since, though some people have reported getting well used mags. If they are getting the guns, eventually you will find surplus mags as well for cheap as more depts retire the .40. Mine ain’t going nowhere, especially after the late Paul Harrell’s video on the argument of 9 vs .40.
Phyraxus56@reddit
What's the tldr on 9 vs 40?
The extra kick of the 40 is worth the slight loss in capacity?
drkling@reddit
General consensus is terminal ballistics not significant enough to justify decrease in capacity and added recoil in 9 v 40 debate. Ammo also not as widely available and it’s more expensive. I’m not anti .40 imo they’re not worth it if you plan on shooting the gun a ton over its life.
Coyoteishere@reddit
Ain’t much extra kick in equivalent size gun, just different impulse in my opinion. There’s a lot I can say quoting him, but don’t be lazy and out of respect for the man go watch his video and “you be the judge”.
TooMuchDebugging@reddit
$260 w/ 3 mags from King's. Not sure how shipping compares.
kphamxp@reddit
Any 2.0 deals?
Bustle2190@reddit
2.0 for $279
kphamxp@reddit
Sorry I should have clarified 9mm 🥲
TooMuchDebugging@reddit
Not that I've seen. I mostly keep tabs on the trade-ins, and I don't recall any trade-in 2.0's. I also wouldn't really know a deal on a new 2.0 if I saw it.
lobstibb@reddit (OP)
King’s shipping is $25 and possibly no tax to Texas
sickels61@reddit
Right! Like that's a good deal!
CrocusCityHallComedy@reddit
??? For the range ProMag mags are like $15 and SW brand are $30. That's a few dollars more than other guns but not cousin fuck expensive
Sky19234@reddit
$30?! That's how much he spends on Buy-2-Cousins-Fuck-1-Free-day, unacceptable.
Crashing_Machines@reddit
They have used mags for $13.95
sickels61@reddit
That's a great price on those mags!
AremRed@reddit
This or the police trade-in Glock 22.4 for $280 in another thread?
ComfortableActuator@reddit
Glock. The trigger on this is awful (later M&Ps are better), and its much more of a dead ecosystem than the Glock.
richiecotite@reddit
This.
AremRed@reddit
Ok why?
richiecotite@reddit
M&P40 was designed as a 40 caliber gun, this and 2 extra mags is cheaper than the Glock deal.
TBH, it’s the difference between coke and Pepsi with gen 4 Glock 22 vs. m&p40 1.0
SpeedmasterX@reddit
In for a 2.0
lobstibb@reddit (OP)
Good luck finding a 2.0 for $220
Substantial_Fold_465@reddit
I got a two tone 2.0 compact for $187 on gunbroker a few weeks ago. Shipping was $50 which sucked. After shipping, taxes and transfer it was about $280. Only came with the small backstrap but it had 3 mags
Consistent_Kick7219@reddit
Yup. I paid about 400 for mine and it's an LE SKU that actually is part of the C.O.R.E. line from 2020. So while it's technically a m&p 2.0, it's more like 1.5 since it doesn't have trigger over-travel adjustment for example.
PawnstarExpert@reddit
Bleh, even though I am local, it's a caliber I don't rally have any care for.
richiecotite@reddit
This is one of the best 40 caliber pistols ever made. It was designed specifically as a 40 caliber pistol compared to most comparable guns that were designed as 9mm’s. Recoil is slightly more compared to standard full sized 9mm’s, and noticeably less compared to the Glock 22 (imo)
I’ve had about 14 different M&P’s and never felt the triggers lacking, or the hinged trigger design bad. The best thing you can do for a bad M&P trigger is spending $80 for an apex kit. Factory 9mm barrels are essentially drop in but other companies make conversion barrels. Because it was designed to take the extra wear and tear of the 40 S&w, it’s essentially a 10mm light and has no problems with 200 grain bullets at 1000 fps.
There’s a lot worse ways to spend $250 on a handgun.
OkiePNW@reddit
This is a good deal for someone looking at their home defense pistol who thinks they can only afford Taurus.
alex_gfg@reddit
Wow thats tempting
lobstibb@reddit (OP)
9mm option for $269.95
