Here we go up the escalation latter yet again… personally i think they have a deal with Russia to keep this on the front pages in exchange for weapons and support in a future saudi war… though they are playing quite the gamble on Israel… Israel might just force everyones hand here…
LicksMackenzie@reddit
the war in Ukraine certainly is healthy for NATO. they get to tool up and recruit and liquidate old stockpiles.
Stars3000@reddit
I think they are tightening their cooperation agreements and Khamenei now feels emboldened.
boosted-elex@reddit
Chaos is a ladder!
Wild_Mongrel@reddit
True, but (bad writing/implementation aside) it didn't work out so well for him in the end.
Girafferage@reddit
This escalation is mainly concerning because at a certain point it will be worth it for Iran to utilize a nuclear weapon which they almost certainly have at this point.
LicksMackenzie@reddit
that's the wild card that may happen. "We got nukes" and then F-35s sail out from Tel Aviv 10 minutes later
ChallengingBullfrog8@reddit
The USA (Israel is the 51st state) is the only country to use nuclear weapons in the history of the world.
GeoNerd25@reddit
Israel has no respect for the planet. I can see them doing it.
jamiechronicles@reddit
Wtf does that even mean. You are so blinded by hate for Israel
GeoNerd25@reddit
I just might be jewish
GeoNerd25@reddit
What a bunch of antisemitic people on reddit
Dependent-Shower8674@reddit
What do you expect from liberals?
GeoNerd25@reddit
You are right, people can't understand most Jewish people in North America hate Netanyahu, he gives us a bad name.
NegativeWar8854@reddit
So? You can still have antisemitic views...
just like black people can hate black people too, see Candace Owens.
IsItAnyWander@reddit
And the rest are blinded by hate for Iran. So.
superstevo78@reddit
yah because the Soviet Union would never dare to use nukes if they had them first.... Stalin would have decided to hug some trees and decide he finally found his humanity after they shipped those hundreds of thousands of people to Siberia...
The Germans would definitely have not used the weapons if they got them first. The Nazis were well known for their humanitarian disposition.... /s
SBTreeLobster@reddit
Yeah, and all throughout history, I’m pretty sure for everything ever, there was one group that did something before everyone else wound up catching up.
If I say I’m going to irrigate a field around 5500 BC would you be the guy coming up going “Egypt’s the only tribe in the world that does irrigation” and imply nobody else would?
BooksandBiceps@reddit
So edgy.
New_pollution1086@reddit
Hell yeah!!
Girafferage@reddit
Outside of tests, yeah. But that fact doesnt change the odds of it happening in the future.
Hope1995x@reddit
Gun type fission bombs are so simple in design, I think the first test was on Nagasaki.
Imagine if you downscale it to fit on an Iranian ballistic missile and have it detonate once it hits the ground.
LordofTheFlagon@reddit
You don't want them to hit that ground that really limits effectiveness. Air burst is far more destructive.
Hope1995x@reddit
Achieving airburst seems to be more technologically challenging.
I know Hamas uses rockets that detonate upon impact and thought an atomic warhead detonated upon falling on the ground would be easier to mass produce.
LordofTheFlagon@reddit
Air burst munitions are really not that much more complex the main reason you use impact detonated wirh rockets like Hamas tends to field is because of the limited payload. With a nuke the over pressure wave does much of the damage. Much larger over pressure wave than conventional munitions can generate.
Girafferage@reddit
Depends what your goals are. Ground hit produces a massive radioactive cloud which makes the area useless for a long time.
Papadapalopolous@reddit
I doubt Iran has enough for a barrage. How embarrassing would it be for them to launch their only nuke just to have it get shot out of the sky followed by all of NATO suddenly showing up to delete the entire Iranian military?
Malcolm_Morin@reddit
Who said anything about them launching a nuke?
Sneaking it into Tel Aviv, on the other hand...
Quigonjinn12@reddit
Yep. With the iron dome and the slings, and the straight arrows, a nuke would have to be snuck in and detonated dirty bomb style
--Muther--@reddit
Why dirty bomb style? If it's a nuke I assume they will just detonate it like a nuke.
A dirty bomb is just a normal bomb with combined radioactive material that explodes sub-nuclear.
Quigonjinn12@reddit
Yes I’m aware, but they’re snuck into population centers then detonated. A nuke has never been used that way. Truthfully the semantic argument you’re making here is ultimately irrelevant
deciduousredcoat@reddit (OP)
UPDATE - Sources are indicating that the attack will be launched from Iraqi territory
LicksMackenzie@reddit
time to regime change. hope the Dome doesn't take the chrome.
TopAd1369@reddit
Then the US can strike with impunity.
Charlirnie@reddit
I thought Iraq told US to get out? or am I thinking of something else?
PartTimeOper8r@reddit
You’re correct, the US is retrograding out of Iraq currently
Aggressive_Walk378@reddit
Tiny-Phrase3490@reddit
Can Israel say "all further attacks will result in nuclear retaliation." ?? Why or why not?
Useful_Hovercraft169@reddit
I’m ok with whatever Israel does to this shitbag
redditorannonimus@reddit
He doesn't care, he's old and will croak soon.
neck_is_red@reddit
I want to be more upset but I’m not even worried.
ChallengingBullfrog8@reddit
Why? Most of their missiles hit last time, they’ll do it again.
free2ski@reddit
Most my ass. Quite the opposite.
Robot_Embryo@reddit
They hit everything they wanted to hit.
neck_is_red@reddit
Maybe more of them will actually land this time if we’re lucky
dgradius@reddit
You like $10/gallon gasoline prices? Because that’s how you get there.
neck_is_red@reddit
OPEC would like a word

LowBarber135@reddit

brbgonnabrnit@reddit
I don't get why both Israel and Iran announce their attacks to the world.
notshiftycow@reddit
These attacks are less about causing massive damage/killing lots of people and more about causing *calculated* pain and sending diplomatic signals. On the Iranian side, their signal is that they can produce an overwhelming volume of long-range fires - more missiles than the defenders have interceptors. For their own people, they get plenty of dramatic shots of rockets in the night to print on giant banners and whatnot.
With their strikes, Israel is messaging that they can hit Iran with precision, stealth, and intelligence. Blasting a bunch of S300 batteries with fighters is a pretty clear "we can see everything you have, and you can't stop us, either."
For the world at large, notifications send a message that both sides are "responsibly" sparring and don't want to escalate or cause collateral damage - "We're going to launch of bunch of missiles, maybe don't fly commercial aircraft around here."
Hope1995x@reddit
I'm still trying to find images of those destroyed s300s. Does anyone have any idea where I can find them?
All I can find is damage at the missile manufacturing base. I've already seen videos of Iranian air defenses having some successful engagements.
I'm not sure what's true with all this propaganda lately. Scaleing the true damage can tell us how bad it's really going to get.
Lets_All_Love_Lain@reddit
They don't exist no. Even though the Ukraine War has produced tons of videos of S300s exploding like the 4th of July, there's also no videos of them being hit.
Until evidence is produced, best to assume Israel did not take out any S300s
notshiftycow@reddit
The satellite companies put holds on imagery for a little while after events like this, but I imagine stuff will be coming out in OSINT soon that either confirms or refutes the claims. I think it is fair to assume that a lot of the missile production locations were protected by radars and missile batteries and that those defenses were targeted.
For the general OSINT scene, my recommended starting place is `armscontrolwonk` on Twitter, and then follow the threads and people he retweets.
TerminallyBlitzed@reddit
A lot of the Iranian air defenses that have been circulating are flak guns that has ammunition that explodes at a certain altitude. The explosions you see in the videos are not missiles or planes being intercepted.
A good chunk of their advanced air defense systems have been destroyed, allegedly.
Hope1995x@reddit
I feel like they've been gaslighting us about wars lately. I'm skeptical of both sides. To me, it is not unimaginable that Iran can shoot them down.
It's the experience, if Ukraine or Russia had those missile defense systems, they would've performed better.
I think a lot of it has to do is being familiar with their air defense equipment and knowing what to do.
A_Whole_Costco_Pizza@reddit
There's also the reality that a lot of these air defense systems and other targets were in the middle of nowhere, far away from civilians or anyone who might get a snapshot of it. It would be fairly easy for Iran to hide any damages done in these areas.
ElbisCochuelo1@reddit
Any images could be easily faked.
IDontKnowu501@reddit
So u can feel a way pending on who u feel aligned with on whatever level; control over how something or someone is viewed controls how u think about it. It’s no coincidence we got TikTok and Reddit and twitter THEN CAME deepfakes,ai, and bots and more disinformation then actual informative perspectives. It’s social engineering fighting an enlightened awakening in the mass consciousness.
ProfessionalCreme119@reddit
If they announced they are doing it then it's them not being afraid of retaliation. They appear stronger
If they do not announce it but US or Israel releases it first it makes Iran look weak. Exposed and not able to keep secrets.

Using people's money.

War is a challenge of gentlemen. You wouldn't understand.
RevolutionaryRoyal39@reddit
They do it for us, so we can watch the show. Why do you think they launch it at night ? The photos look more impressive.
Nautimonkey@reddit
May the hand of God smite the genociders
rggggb@reddit
Haha not working out quite like that it seems
Girafferage@reddit
I think if there was a God he would not allow such tragedies.
deciduousredcoat@reddit (OP)
That's just Prot nonsense: The Lord does not meddle in the affairs of man.
Girafferage@reddit
Hmm. Well he made man, then wiped out a bunch of people in a flood, then destroyed a city and turned a guys wife into a pillar of salt, and led slaves out of Egypt but got angry that the guy who did it hit a rock instead of just yelling at it so he banished him to the desert to die. Then (assuming Christianity) sent his son to tell humans to do better and to forgive their sins through his own sacrifice.
Just saying - thats a lot of meddling.
deciduousredcoat@reddit (OP)
You describe Him like this, but you can't square why He would allow war? I cant even with your cognitive dissonance.
SBTreeLobster@reddit
Oh, so your brain is cooked through. Fair enough.

Girafferage@reddit
Well, old testament God was wrathful. New testament God is all about love. But either way, I personally won't be bowing down to a God who allows babies to burn alive when he has the power to stop it.
IsItAnyWander@reddit
Right?! Imagine believing it's okay because the babies are going to heaven.
Girafferage@reddit
The babies aren't even going to heaven if you believe Roman Catholics at least. They have to be baptized first.
If people want to believe in a God, I say go for it. Just don't let humans dictate how and what that God wants you to do. Everybody has a moral compass. You know when you are doing something right or wrong. You can ignore it, but deep down you know.
IsItAnyWander@reddit
Dang really? There's not even an exemption for people who've never been taught about jesus?
Girafferage@reddit
It all depends on your religion for what they believe it takes.
dustycanuck@reddit
Pronouns don't need to be capitalized. You're just perpetuating a myth.

Flat_Boysenberry1669@reddit
What are they gonna do?
Launch a bunch of missiles or drones that don't even hit their target? Then have Israel kill half their military leadership or their entire oil industry?
InfoBarf@reddit
Last time they hit a few military targets. I know we're used to blown up apartments from air campaigns because the people who use our real good missiles are usually war criminals, but it did seem like Iran definitely limited their attacks to overtly military targets.
rggggb@reddit
Haha moronic take over here with that war criminal BS. Iran barely hit a few targets did very little damage to some empty air bases. Israels response was limited to military installments and did precise devastation, which they can easily do when their enemy isn’t entrenched in civilian infrastructure intentionally.
boosted-elex@reddit
They saw what happened the last time someone attacked Israeli civilians
IsItAnyWander@reddit
What a dumb fucking take to believe hamas is on the same level as Iran.
ExoticPumpkin237@reddit
Did you wander over from WorldNews or something? Jesus
Flat_Boysenberry1669@reddit
What exactly are you denying?
That Irans retaliations have been minimal compared to Israel's attacks?
soooooonotabot@reddit
Yeah tbh it seems that both sides are being performative at this point. But eventually, that will change.
Flat_Boysenberry1669@reddit
Yah Israel killing their top generals landing airstrikes at their capitol ECT is performative lol...
Israel has done way more damage than Iran and Iran retaliations are literally just for show to attempt to keep face.
soooooonotabot@reddit
Fair point
theloveburts@reddit
Why do I feel a preemptive strike coming from Israel?
Illustrious-Being339@reddit
I could see isreal having jets ready to go the second missile launches are detected. All they need is a reason to give the green light.
diedlikeCambyses@reddit
I don't think it's pre-emptive anymore.
