There's a Dylan biopic on the way. A Marlon Brando one. And a Springsteen one being filmed right now. Who from our generation would you like to see a biopic of in, say, a decade?
Posted by FajitaTits@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 201 comments
Personally for me, I would love to see a Paul Reubens biopic. Or maybe one about the woman who sued McDonald's for her coffee practically burning her thighs off her legs (this is true).
naetron@reddit
Nicholas Cage played by Nicholas Cage. No de-aging.
belunos@reddit
I dunno, he would need massive talent for that

Haven't you seen Raising Arizona?

It's been made in a very tongue in cheek way
Ezypeezylemonsqueezy@reddit
Seeing this movie show up first in the feed just made my night! Omg đ
Mindless_Shelter_895@reddit
Sorry to burst you bubble, but there is already a biopic about McDonald's and the lady who was burned called "Hot Coffee." It led to some real changes at McDs, like not handing out their coffee at 200+ degrees.
sjd208@reddit
They had already had multiple lawsuits about the too hot coffee as well a shades of the Ford Pinto. We discussed it in depth in law school but that was almost 20 years ago.
EternalSunshineClem@reddit
I hate how many people joked about this at the time it happened. She was severely injured with third degree burns and could have died.
cardie82@reddit
As a kid I remember laughing and thinking she was stupid. As an adult Iâm glad she won because there was no excuse for what happened to her.
Mindless_Shelter_895@reddit
The pictures introduced into evidence at the trial haunt me to this day. đ€Ż

Definitely inspired by it, and possibly another band. I think the author outright said it in an interview.

Itâs still happening they recently announced who was playing Brad.
Shortbus_Playboy@reddit
Agree 100%. Not only was he an incredibly talented artist, but his life and the rise of the band would make for a HELL of an entertaining story. There are so many crazy true stories that could be included that many casual fans would think are complete fiction. Iâm kinda surprised there hasnât been anything already in the works (at least I havenât heard anything, Iâd love to be wrong).

FajitaTits@reddit (OP)
Yeah, I was inspired to check his WIki page from your comment. He did that character for a number of regional commercials: burger chains, gas companies, dairy farms, and they were in places like New Mexico, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Texas. And he's from Kentucky. Really an interesting career that ended with his passing at an early age (51).

He did a few commercials for a regional dairy producer here in Michigan, I believe.

Cobain. I was in middle school when he passed and I was devastated. I think his story is a compelling one. Child of divorce in a town he didnât really fit in. Music was an escape. He became the voice of generation when I think honestly he wanted to be big enough to make a living but never thought heâd be seen as the voice of a generation. His escape became a job not an outlet. Thereâs a lot there. His marriage, becoming a father, the tension in the band toward the end. It could be similar to The Doors movie.

The closest we got was Last Days in 2005.
The rights have been tied up cause Brad Pitt wanted to do it and Courtney Love didn't like his idea. Gus Van Sant wanted to do one and everyone was on board but because of legal stuff, Pitt still had some kind of film rights. So Last Days was made about Cobain but isn't about Cobain literally.Â
The legal stuff with the estate has changed up since then so there might be a chance but who knows

I wouldn't say 'from our generation' but people who were culturally relevant in our collective lives is more apt here. Our generation of xennials probably aren't going to have too many biopics in 10 years in our 50s.
Mel Brooks is one I'd love to see. The whole troupe of Monty Python as well.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will definitely get one down the road.
And I guess, weird that they're connected by a film, but Danny DeVito.

djsynrgy@reddit
CAVEAT: I don't know what I don't know. Maybe various hit artists from the 90's have incredible life stories that I've never heard.
I don't want one on Cobain; too little trust that it could be done with the proper reverence or accuracy.
This is a cheat because he's not really our generation, but I'd love one on Bowie. I feel like our gen lacks so much context surrounding his life, stardom, and cultural influence. I'm not even a big fan of his catalog; I just find him as a person (or character?) to be an interesting subject for a film, and who doesn't love a well made period-piece?
It's hard to imagine there won't be one about Snoop Dogg, at this point. What hasn't that man done?
The thing about our gen of artists is, we can either choose from folks who died young, or from folks whose story isn't nearly finished, yet, and many just don't make for interesting tales: Person/group finds success at young age, tours and records relentlessly, the end. There's something to be said about rags-to-riches stories, but there haven't been much riches going around the music industry post-Internet, and there are already a bunch of movie-ish things featuring the big stars like Beyonce and Taylor Swift.
Like, there's already been a couple on Winehouse, and they were pretty iffy. Tragic tales are a tough sell, generally, as is evidenced by all the "trauma" comments attached to media threads in this community.
FajitaTits@reddit (OP)
It doesn't necessarily have to be music, though. What about a biopic about Mr. T? I would be there on opening night. And I'm also noticing a trend with biopics that zero in on one aspect of the subject, instead of their whole life. The Founder, for example, was simply about the point in time when Ray Kroc found and effectively stole the McDonald's franchise from its originators. A compelling story, but not Kroc's life story.
djsynrgy@reddit
I totally misunderstood the directive. Mr. T is a good call. Makes me think of pro wrestling, and I'd love a good movie (or series) about the Hart family, focused on the family dynamic with Stu the patriarch running his "Dungeon" in the basement, and promoting, while these 12(ish?) kids run around their poor Mom, raising hell all the time. Don't even need to get into the WWF era -- which would be a whole other series of tragic tales.
As a nerd, I'd love a biopic-ish about the making of 1979's Alien; characters including Ron Cobb, HR Giger, Dan O'Bannon & Ron (S-something,) Ridley Scott, and of course the cast.. The tale of how that film was made, is somehow as interesting as the film itself. Fascinating stuff, IMHO.
Wouldn't mind one about the 14th Dalai Llama.
There will probably be one on George Lucas.
