What’s in like living in Stony Stratford/ Old Stratford as an ethnic minority?

Looking at potential places to live. Curious to hear people’s thoughts/experiences. Although a nice area, wondering if likely to experience racism.

Just reigniting this thread. We are family of two mums and their kids. Looking to move out of London. We like the idea of Stony Stratford. Curious to hear people's experiences of it being LGBTQ+ friendly there?
legitimatephrase3433@reddit
Are you seriously asking this?
mkm118@reddit
What's wrong with asking the question? It's a sincere and genuine concern for many moving to the area
legitimatephrase3433@reddit
There is no racism in stony Stratford.
That I find it a ridiculous question isn't a bad thing.
The people are great and welcoming to everyone.
Cheesecake3004@reddit
Can I ask, are you from an ethnic minority?
legitimatephrase3433@reddit
Can I ask do you want the city to be racist?
shdanko@reddit
Can I ask why are you so simple?
legitimatephrase3433@reddit
Do you get aggressive oftern? Perhaps that's your issue.
shdanko@reddit
Not ‘oftern’ no, mr simple
legitimatephrase3433@reddit
Have a nice day.
shdanko@reddit
OP doesn’t live in stony already you moron hence a question about stony.
legitimatephrase3433@reddit
Get aggressive oftern?

Asking a question you don't know the answer too is far less ridiculous than claiming that there is no racism in an area.
legitimatephrase3433@reddit
There isn't any racism anyone would be fine.

Yes I am. I’m not from there so I don’t know. Also, it’s not unheard of to move to a ‘nice’ area but unfortunately be made to feel unwelcome and regret the decision
mkm118@reddit
Nobody has said that they aren't great and welcoming to everyone

Anecdotally, I find it far less likely to receive racial abuse shouted at from affluent areas compared to deprived areas. Richer people don't need to take it out on ethnic minorities to feel good about themselves. I visit Stony often and have no issues.
Traditional_Bison472@reddit
They show it in a less obvious way

Definitely^

It is a mainly white village however it’s and incredibly friendly and accepting village
Lukushowlett@reddit
Interracial family and everyone is fine, never had any issues there- only had one issue in 10 years but that was in neighbouring Fullers Slade.
fuzzbook@reddit
It's a nice place with generally nice seeming people in my experience. I can't imagine you would get racism (or at least more than any other area).
cankennykencan@reddit
You'll be perfectly fine

I live here and would say there isn't a lot of ethnic people. Wolverton has a lot more.. my child went to both schools and old Stratford has 99% white children, and Wolverton probably 40% in his class maybe more or less but there is a difference. Whether Wolverton has more racists than stony.. its impossible to say. Unfortunately it's the individual not the area which may make you feel unwelcome.. cant judge an area on this basis. You could live in the most affluent area in the UK and your neighbours could be the biggest racists ever.. you will never know. But don't make a decision based on other people, find where you want and live there. All the best.

I lived there for some time. We're a mixed race family and had zero issues. It's a fairly affluent area, with the risk of sounding "class"ist, I think that tends to lean in favour of how people interact.
geekbeat13@reddit
I've never experienced anything while being there, shopping, eating or going for some drinks
Jezleem23@reddit
Mainly white areas but low on chavs
