The jewelry screams Greek/eastern origins, which is not only a good nod to Xena's Greek heritage, but also representative of how Greek was the preferred language and style of the Roman elites in the time Caesar would've been around. Roman elites traditionally viewed Greece as the epitome of what Rome should be, but with the attitude of "Greeks don't appreciate Greek culture like we do because if they did, we wouldn't have conquered them". The funny thing about the Romans is that they would view some aspects of the cultures they conquered as better than their own (like the Greek pantheon and artistic traditions) while treating all other aspects of that culture (like the food) like it was sacrilegious to their ethos.
