TL;DR - several people involved in a city mayor's primary election tried to rig it. They were caught.

• Alfredo Castillo, a city council member, misrepresented eligibility and fraudulently completed portions of an absentee ballot application on behalf of another voter without disclosing it, then lied in a deposition and claimed he hadn't.

• Nilsa Heredia, a staffer at the city elections office, also misrepresented eligibility for absentee ballots and instructed voters to vote for specific candidates.

• Josephine Edmonds, also a staffer at the city elections office, oversaw four voters completing their absentee ballots and collected the ballots from those voters. She also told one of those voters to lie in court about her (Edmonds) actions, suborning perjury.

• Heredia and Edmonds also bypassed the Town Clerk to slip those ballots in to be counted.

• Castillo and Edmonds also failed to maintain an absentee ballot distribution list and submit it to the city clerk’s office.

• Wanda Geter-Pataky, employed as a greeter at Bridgeport City Hall who also served as vice-chair of the Bridgeport Democratic Party, was seen on video from cameras controlled by the Bridgeport Police depositing an indeterminate number of ballots ten times in a ballot drop box.

• Eneida Martinez, a Democratic candidate for Bridgeport City Council, was also seen on video depositing an indeterminate number of ballots five times in a ballot drop box.

This is an interesting contrast to more widely known examples like former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, who bought into Trump's lies and gave another conspiracy nut access to Mesa County voting machines.

The case in Bridgeport was straight-up election rigging attempted by several people with assistance from election office staffers.

The absentee ballots came from the people who'd applied for them, so the ballots themselves were not fraudulent.

The fraud came in how the absentee ballots were acquired, voted, and handled. All of that was the responsibility of the people who took those actions, not the voters, and not how they voted. Those people named above are paying the price for their illegal actions.

The judge's opinion is a great read and shows that elections can be overturned when there's compelling evidence of fraud.

Yet somehow, despite the widespread fraud claimed by Trump and his cronies, there's been zero evidence presented to courts to substantiate those claims.

If the fraud were as widespread as claimed, there'd be mountains of evidence - but nothing credible has been presented. It's enough to make one think it's all BS to keep the MAGA folk worked up. Makes you want to say, "Hmmmmm."
