What are your favorite developer blogs to read?

developers who likes to read - what blogs actually make you a better programmer? I want to read some super interesting blogs and interesting technical articles but I am having a hard time filtering out the good ones and google is filled with a lot of junk and AI content. So in short, what are some of your favorite blogs that you read? do we even have some good blogs who don't use AI?
JimDabell@reddit
I like Simon Willison’s blog. We have very similar interests, tech stacks, and experience levels, so when he’s blogging about something new he’s discovered or figured out, it’s normally something new and interesting to me as well. His TILs are a good habit that’s useful to others.

Great post! SEO is the backbone of online growth and visibility. Businesses that invest in the right SEO strategies can achieve long-term success. I found this helpful resource for professional SEO services:

His content is great and seems like a genuine person who’s tinkering for the love. Opposite of pretty much every YouTuber.

My first job as a SWE was at the same company as him! He was the nicest human and so enthusiastic about the universe and everything in it.

Their zines are really cool too! Jula has a special talent for making what are otherwise intimidating concepts much more approachable 🙂
I always recommend her stuff to newer programmers, especially those without a formal computer science background.

Why read a blog when you can have a youtuber read it for you and spoon-feed some shallow takes you can echo later? /s
rag1987@reddit (OP)
I still like YouTube for some things but honestly? many YouTubers drag intros a lot, and I have to wait for the info I actually need and most imp at least for me videos doesn't have search functionality which is one of the good reason I read blogs over videos. I find my answer faster.

His books are great too, I think are mostly content from his blog?
sr_emonts_author@reddit
I still enjoy re-reading him now. I remember how remarkable he was back in the 2000s - were they even called blogs back then?
forevergenin@reddit
Yep - I still re-read him as well. His guides are still my goto reference for most of the things l still need to handle as an IC.
syklemil@reddit
Yeah. Blogger/Blogspot is from 1999. Same with LiveJournal, for those who remember that.

Never been a big reader - I kinda struggle to focus. I prefer video.
I like watching https://www.youtube.com/c/theprimeagen and https://www.youtube.com/@t3dotgg who often read dev blogposts/articles.
Sometimes this is an incentive for me to pause the video and start reading the article on my own.

I've been interested in high performance coding recently. Some blogs I've found useful:
https://easyperf.net/notes/ https://lemire.me/blog/ https://travisdowns.github.io/
On the research side, I've found Emery Berger to have a lot of interesting papers out (the Stabilizer project is especially interesting to me!)
bzbub2@reddit
emery bergers talks are very entertaining

I'm not sure if grugbrain is considered a blog.

onlyfans is a great video blog for lonely programmers, which is a 100% of programmers. You can follow many different personalities and can see their point of view from many different angles.
combatopera@reddit
https://mtlynch.io/posts/ has actually created a product and written up what he's learned during the process. but normally i avoid blogs for the reasons you've mentioned, and also the nature of blogs means obsolete/false info is seldom corrected

I think you need to go language specific, or domain specific.
I have some really good linkedin people for my niche in DataEng. I mostly use LinkedIn to follow some product people for Snowflake, dbt et al, and then some of the main influencers.
You quickly follow along with all the trends and new features.

As a Python dev, Bite code is the only one I actually follow. The rest is mostly AI slop.
