Apparently there is a backlog of $20 billion worth of US arms sales to Taiwan that have not been delivered. https://www.cato.org/blog/taiwan-arms-backlog-september-2024-update-new-maintenance-sale-details-troubled-pda-transfer
joeg26reddit@reddit
This is weird. USA is stiffing the Taiwanese but giving tens of billions to Ukraine?
($70-175 billion? https://www.cfr.org/article/how-much-us-aid-going-ukraine)
LaserGuy626@reddit
To be fair. Hunter Biden didn't have any kushy energy kickbacks from Taiwan
GigsandShittles@reddit
The down votes are hilarious.... common knowledge but people refuse to see the correlation
superstevo78@reddit
I would wait for Hunter to get a senior advisor position with security clearance in the current white house before throwing those stones....
GigsandShittles@reddit
https://waysandmeans.house.gov/2023/11/17/icymi-whistleblower-docs-show-burisma-hired-hunter-biden-for-his-political-weight-and-carefully-navigated-his-appointment-to-protect-joe-biden/
Also look into who the owner of Burisma is, and how soon Hunter joined Burisma compared to when Russia invaded Crimea. Also pretty interesting to see where Burisma sources their oil from.
Not enough to bring criminal charges imo, but it's pretty apparent why Hunter was hired. And it's definitely not bc he's a good businessman.
superstevo78@reddit
yes again. we all know that Hunter Biden is a piece of shit who used his father's name to try and make a buck. that is it. the Republicans had 4 years to prove Joe had anything to do with it and they not only didn't, but their witnesses were grifters. it's a joke.
Jared, kushner should have never gotten a security clearance and should have never been in the White House. Ivanka Trump should have never been in the White House or sitting at tables holding Trump's place at international events. The fact that Jared kushner's family got a huge loan while he was in the White House is a joke and blatant massive corruption that should be just one of the reasons to never vote for Trump ever again.
The fact that you can't focus on this and are throwing out red herring involving Hunter Biden defines you as a bad actor.
GigsandShittles@reddit
I don't lean towards any political party. They can all go to jail for all I care. Kushners involvement with Saudi Arabia is another example. Our political system is in shambles. I wouldn't call Hunter's involvement in Ukraine a hypothetical, though. They're just better at keeping their shit clean.
Zacisblack@reddit
Now do Jared.
Illustrious-Being339@reddit
Give taiwan their nukes back
elinamebro@reddit
TIL they had nukes
Illustrious-Being339@reddit
They have the capability to develop nukes. The USA convinced them to not make them in exchange for our defense agreement.
halt317@reddit
Why? Isnt the USA militarily obligated to defend Taiwan in an invasion?
elinamebro@reddit
True but ad long as they have all the fabs their we will protect them.. till our are up and running in the states I guess.

These sort of posters are either Russia aligned, or those who have succumbed to Russia’s social media influence campaigns. We’re at digital war with Russia, and we to recognize it as such.
Razafraz11@reddit
Anything to fit their narrative smh
Bob4Not@reddit
False, Russian propaganda. $750 cash (NOT A LOAN) day 1 with no questions asked. More available depending on your case.
BooksandBiceps@reddit
What’s this have to do with a sale? Also, as a Florida resident, I don’t think you understand how FEMA works.
$750 is for immediate emergency costs like hotel and food. Then you apply for aid based on damage afterwards.
bostonguy6@reddit
Well thank goodness that money isn’t going to any Americans that might need it. Best of all, it’s arms sales, so those poor warlords of the military industrial complex will finally be able to have a hot shower and a cup of gruel.

Just wait til you hear we paid Blackrock and contractors 150 billion to rebuild in Iraq, and they're lining up to do the same in Ukraine
Scrivener83@reddit
Pay Blackrock $600 billion, as long as we win and push the Russians back to the 1991 borders.
forkproof2500@reddit
Well one of those is happening, the other unfortunately is not.

I don't understand what you are talking about. This is an Arms sale. The US is selling arms.
A_Toxic_User@reddit
True they should have given the missile defense system to ME Godammit. My backyard has just enough room.

Imagine how upset you would be if you lived through the world wars. We spent so much on those.
Beerdrinker2525@reddit
Eh, PRC will just wait out their invasion of Taiwan until we delve down to a civil war in the USA.
SomeoneRandom007@reddit
If Taiwan is properly armed NOW, China might not attack.
Look at Ukraine: Had Russia seen the support Ukraine now has, they would not have done that particular war crime. It's the same with Taiwan- if Taiwan has all the missiles it needs (air to air, surface to air, anti-tank, anti-ship, ballistic) plus submarines and torpedoes, they can prevent China actually attempting an invasion.
Once China begins an invasion, you can expect casualties measured in the hundreds of thousands.
Ra1nCoat@reddit
millions
SomeoneRandom007@reddit
Arguable either way. If Taiwan can destroy the 3 gorges dam then casualties will go very high.
oh-bee@reddit
We've been arming Taiwan for decades.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_US_arms_sales_to_Taiwan
The reason China hasn't done shit to Taiwan is because they CAN'T do shit to Taiwan without a crippling amount of casualties.
screeching-tard@reddit
This what I came to chime in. I don't see why this is prepper relevant. US has been arming Taiwan basically almost as long as its been a country.
Taiwan actually has a very powerful army already, this sale is about 10% of their yearly budged.
slower-is-faster@reddit
China is just going to blockade. Then we will see what happens.
waffle_fries4free@reddit
They'll be met with 3 times their tonnage in the form of the most advanced navy and carrying second largest airforce in the world
SomeoneRandom007@reddit
Taiwan needs to decide how it responds, but a blockade is an act of war, just like bombing the other side. It is especially important for an Island nation like Taiwan to be able to trade by air and sea, and, any attempt at a blockade needs to see CCP aircraft and planes being destroyed.
slower-is-faster@reddit
I think they’re counting on the US not sending an aircraft carrier group to open a gap. I can’t see China firing on that, it would be suicide.
thr0wnb0ne@reddit
the u.s sending a carrier strike group hoping to open a gap would also be suicide. china wouldnt have a choice but to fire on them at that point. the real point being, any war between the u.s and china is mutually assured destruction, there are no winners, the whole world loses
RudyGreene@reddit
Russia prefers expansion and global destabilization over economic irrelevance. Russia doesn't need Ukraine, but that war was the easiest to justify.
Grouchy_Mixture9469@reddit
See! It pays to borrow money from China. They take the principal and interest from our Treasury bonds and spend it on building up their military, and we take the borrowed money and sell weapons to Taiwan to defend them from China's military buildup we're paying for by selling our Treasury bonds, or we otherwise use the borrowed money to send weapons to Ukraine so Ukrainians can kill China's Russian and North Korean allies. The efficiency of government debt financing is awesome.
Sufficient_Loss9301@reddit
lol you have a severe misunderstanding of what your talking about. China owns ~800bill in treasury bonds which have a interest rate of ~2%. So america pays about $25billion annually in interest to China tops. It’s not nothing, but that’s small fries when it comes to military budgets and wouldn’t take China very far lol. Fun fact, 75% of US debt is held domestically…
btspman1@reddit

The car's on fire and there's no driver at the wheel And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides And a dark wind blows
The government is corrupt And we're on so many drugs With the radio on and the curtains drawn
We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine And the machine is bleeding to death
The sun has fallen down And the billboards are all leering And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles
It went like this:
The buildings tumbled in on themselves Mothers clutching babies picked through the rubble And pulled out their hair
The skyline was beautiful on fire All twisted metal stretching upwards Everything washed in a thin orange haze
I said: "kiss me, you're beautiful - These are truly the last days"
You grabbed my hand and we fell into it Like a daydream or a fever
We woke up one morning and fell a little further down - For sure it's the valley of death
I open up my wallet And it's full of blood
