Reddit alternative that is neutral/not extremely left

Most reddit subs are very left oriented, and if they gets an idea that you are not a part of the hive mind you can end up with a ban.
Are there any lesser left wing, or even better, neutral boards out there?
ben2talk@reddit
As someone increasingly interested in philosophy, reason, and constructive thinking... I must say that it's impossible for any rational platform NOT to be left leaning.
So I guess you're looking for some less rational right wing forum to align with the increasingly right-wing politics you see probably on Youtube...
rawkus1167@reddit
This might be the biggest load of manure I've ever read on Reddit. Leftism is a cancer on society. Nice gaslighting though. Normal people aren't far left weirdos . Hence why Trump won a 2nd term. Reddit Leftoids represent like a 2% far left extremist POV.
ben2talk@reddit
You're talking about Americans now - not normal people. From what we see of Americans, 'normal' to them is right wing, racist, misogynistic, loud and aggressive behaviour which has no respect for anyone's interest but their own.
Such people always accuse of anyone who is not far right to be snowflake lefties... but actually I'm a conservative.
BoatsnBottomz@reddit
Left leaning spaces can only exist with the use of censorship and banning opposing views
PallyMcAffable@reddit
Why is the same not true of right-leaning spaces?
Asyncrosaurus@reddit
They're subtley expressing the desire for right wingers to casually use slurs because that's what gets you banned on left wing platforms.
Background-File-1901@reddit
It can be but left is more in favour of censorship
spdorsey@reddit
OP is looking for a place that is not defined by politics. It's a big ask. Any place where people are going to vent their emotions and talk about their opinions is going to turn political. It's unavoidable.
Jumpy_Lavishness_533@reddit (OP)
Thank you for understanding my post. Maybe I wasn't clear enough.
I've before posted non verbal, or any "evil" posting before, but because I didn't agree with people I got banned.
And it seems like to be the general thing in here.
AJ_Dali@reddit
This is Reddit, anyone to the right of Marx may as well be a Nazi.
The members of echochambers rarely realize that alienating centralist push them to the opposite side.
A non-political example are kids being raised in overly strict households going no contact as adults.

Comments must be civil. What does this mean? No racism, homophobia, blasphemy, arguments, drama, trolls, insults, slurs, automated rage bots, political attacks, profile fishing, etc.
Use your best judgement. If something feels rude, it probably is rude.
sduong7@reddit
I agree with this sentiment. I'm neutral now and much left when I was younger but some of these spaces have been dominated by extremists who resort to ad hominems instead of addressing arguments. I would like spaces where things aren't as censored and people can have meaningful discussions.
mighty3mperor@reddit
I've found most Lemmy instances to be relatively neutral and/or unlikely to ban you if you aren't hard left. Just avoid hexbear/lemmygrad/lemmy.ml (which is generally good advice unless that's your cup of tea) and don't be a dick and you should be fine.
Your problem with this thread is that such posts usually turn out to be code for "I'm alt-right and anyone left of me are Godless Marxists, where can I find other terrible people like myself?". Hence some of the replies. If you are genuinely looking for somewhere you aren't going to be banned because you aren't a communist and you are prepared for downvotes and people not agreeing with you (I refer back to "don't be a dick") then you should be fine on somewhere like lemm.ee or lemmy.world.
ItsAllBotsAndShills@reddit
Lemmy is even more extreme than reddit. Federation doubles down on the concept of echo chambers.
mighty3mperor@reddit
There are definitely some hard left instances but most are centre left or neutral and it is easy enough to avoid tankies and there are tools to block communities and instances which can be very helpful. I tend not to see much of it these days. It can be a surprise to newcomers though and I wish there were some kind of virtual 'here be dragons" signs you could post.
We're working on alternative communities to ones on tankie instances here:
https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/13091534
So, folks should have options, at least for the larger communities.
PhoenixShredds@reddit
Did you really just equate a person looking for a neutral platform to being a terrible person? Because you really did just make that leap. Also, assuming that someone is alt-right because they're not leftist is part of the problem.
If anything, OP just sounds sane.
mighty3mperor@reddit
No.
Drag-Gable@reddit
lol people like you and responses like this are exactly why people are looking for alternatives
VienneseDude@reddit
Reddit is pathetic these days. I have been banned by three non-political subs for sharing my point of view of things.
The problem is not the downvotes or people coming en mass at you for not agreeing, the problem are the bans by mods feeling personally attacked.
Ironically, the left are the ones so eager to establish rights for everyone, but they are not eager to pursue freedom of speech and a respectful, constructive discussion culture.
And I am not even political. I could care less for several reasons. But even that will get you banned in some subs. These days opinions outside of the general mainstream bubble will get you banned sooner or later as well.
4shtonButcher@reddit
I see a lot of really offensive stuff that isn’t taken down. So either you are referring to other communities or to stuff that is so far out there that it might be right to remove.
VienneseDude@reddit
I am a man of freedom and free speech. I don’t think offensive stuff should be taken down unless it turns into bullying/stalking.
I am mainly talking about day to day topics. For example. In some subs it gets you banned if you say:
"Meds for (certain) mental illnesses can be harmful in the long run and are not for everybody. Try alternatives first"
Or
"There is no hope in voting, all parties are corrupt and the system is rigged“
Both statements are totally reasonable. Sure, not everyone is going to agree especially not on Reddit, especially not with the second statement but truth lays in both of them.
It’s important to be able to discuss, no one has to agree. Personally I don’t care if people come at me using ad hominem arguments, it shows they are not agreeing and lack arguments which is totally fine. Although it harms a good discussion culture, banning people destroys it and that should be something to be aware of.
4shtonButcher@reddit
I see! One can argue with those statements but they have a right to be written and stay there. They’re not hurting anyone.
sabatagol@reddit
Who cares if radical random subreddits ban you because you visit other ones? Just join the ones you care about and ignore/mute/hide the rest.
Same with twitter, just follow who you are interested on and mute who you are not. Dont expect a social network algorithm to spoon feed you, specially nowadays
BagHolder9001@reddit
you are creating a shit bubble, you want to know the whole shit and participate in it, not just a piece of it ...you follow?
sabatagol@reddit
reddit as an overall site is dead, I have no interest on the main page, the main subreddits or anything like that, it's way too centered in american politics which I couldn't care less.
If participation is having a 16 year old californian kid that just read the communism wikipedia article for the first time, screaming at me over the internet and being all smug... don't count me in. And if I want to participate in something I participate in the 2-3 non-political subreddits that still hold some value for my niche.
If I want to know what is happening in the world I don't need reddit, getting your news from reddit is a recipe for disaster.
Same thing in twiter, even having hundreds and hundres of words and accounts muted, I still know of all news and political things immediatly, it just doesnt FLOOD my timelines
Asyncrosaurus@reddit
It's the principal, how dare anyone not have to hear what I have to say!
Accurate_Step_3346@reddit
But it affects all subs.
Even like dating.
I am far left.
But the PC culture of Reddit is obnoxious.
firebreathingbunny@reddit
Are you looking for right-wing subreddits or platforms
Jumpy_Lavishness_533@reddit (OP)
Looking for a forum where you don't get banned for not being leftist
firebreathingbunny@reddit
TheSeeer5@reddit
4chan? You wish lol
Poal and Scored are (mostly) fine
firebreathingbunny@reddit
You must have done something really terrible to get banned on 4chan.
AntiDemonicCrusader@reddit
You can get banned for being racist on 4chan if you post on the wrong boards.
firebreathingbunny@reddit
On /leftypol/ maybe, but outside of that, I find this hard to believe
TheSeeer5@reddit
Yeah, I did the most terrible thing a man can do (spreading the truth).
firebreathingbunny@reddit
I'll take some convincing on this one. 4chan is one of the most uncensored places on the web.
xxx_gamerkore_xxx@reddit
It has changed somewhat recently
0li0li@reddit
r/conservative then?
Jumpy_Lavishness_533@reddit (OP)
So I have to be in one specific sub to not get banned for not being far left
0li0li@reddit
No, but that's probably one of the many subs that are right for yoy. I'm sure there are other subs you would enjoy, just like there are about 100 I enjoy and never got banned from and I'm not far left by any means. I just don't know much about religious subs, political right leaning subs, prolife subs, gun subs, etc. You'll find those that work for you; ask around on subs you like, you'll get recommendations from likeminded people for sure!
Personally, I hang out mostly in gaming and computer related subs. If you do too, are those the type of subs that banned you?
Toa56584@reddit
the issue with modern society is politics will steal you by the arse, rip your panties off, and rail you dry while skinning you alive if you don't align with "The Group".
This is why I prefer community to society, and socialism blended with capitalism instead of capitalism in the raw or communism in the red. Care about people like people, not treat or be people like sheep.
Top-Elk7393@reddit
You can always try to create your own.
AntiDemonicCrusader@reddit
scored.co is the non-political offspring of a donald trump subreddit
Jumpy_Lavishness_533@reddit (OP)
Not interested in a Donald Trump reddit
ecafyelims@reddit
Reddit leans left because internet users lean left. If you need a right-leaning echo chamber, look for one that censors left viewpoints, like TruthSocial, Twitter, or even the subreddit /r/conservative.
Lumaexid@reddit
Above is a comment by a person in an echo-chamber, claiming that others are in one.
ecafyelims@reddit
The irony being that you and I are in the same chamber.
Jumpy_Lavishness_533@reddit (OP)
I don't want extremism from either side of the political spectrum though.
As much as I don't want to be banned because I'm not leftist, I don't want to be on a forum where someone gets banned for being a leftist.
People should be able to be on a forum and not getting banned because of personal beliefs, as long as you arent threatening or anything to other people.
AJ_Dali@reddit
That's two comments in a row assuming you want a right wing echochamber instead of not being bombarded with political posting.
I haven't found one yet, it seems most places end up political unless you're on forums dedicated to specific topics (Linux forums, games, etc). Nothing that offers group forums like Reddit.
On Reddit, I'd recommend leaving all frontpage subreddits. God forbid r/pics doesn't post something about the election for 10 minutes
Jumpy_Lavishness_533@reddit (OP)
Is it possible to put subs on ignore so you don't get them suggested and falling into the ban trap?
AJ_Dali@reddit
TBH, I'm not sure. The third party app I use still works due to a loophole. I'm a "mod" of a personal subreddit. I'm not sure about the official app, but my view has a frontpage that only shows the subs I'm in, and there's a separate tab that I don't use that's shows the content on (I think) r/all
ecafyelims@reddit
You won't be banned from reddit. You might be banned from the subreddit, as each can have their own arbitrary rules.
Look for subreddits that meet your needs. Most subreddits are politically neural because most aren't political. There are some neutral news subreddits, but they are more news than politics.
You can create your own subreddit, and just make sure that everyone keeps it neutral. It's difficult to create a neutral political subreddit because unless you ban people for being left or right, it will attract left and right participants. Just keep that in mind.
Lastly, you can "carefully" participate in right AND left subreddits to get both and so your own personal exposure will be neutral. That's what I do.
Jumpy_Lavishness_533@reddit (OP)
A friend of mine has been perma banned over being not agreeing with the mods so it is indeed possible depending on how strongly they disagree with you.
I also know the reason, but I won't say it because I don't want to get permaed
ecafyelims@reddit
In what subreddit did that happen?
Jumpy_Lavishness_533@reddit (OP)
He wrote it in a Danish sub
ecafyelims@reddit
That sucks. Yeah, the mods can do nearly anything within their own subreddit, and Reddit admins don't get involved. I treat it like a business. If the owner kicks me out, I find a new subreddit. I might appeal the ban, if I feel it's worth the effort.
unwarlike0968@reddit
Run your own lemmy instance or pick an instance that suits your values.

Jabba_Yaga@reddit
An online place that's politically "neutral" is impossible by nature. Politics define a big chunk of human existence. Discussions on history, law, social relations, philosophy etc. are impossible without at the very least political implications. The only kind of places that can be politically neutral are just places with only cat pictures and stuff, there's plenty of platforms for that.
Jumpy_Lavishness_533@reddit (OP)
Well I mean it's fine to disagree, problem is you get banned if you disagree.
