Fun range handguns?

A friend has come to me with a request, they want a fun handgun to enjoy and range shoot, and they wanted some suggestions. They aren't a Reddit person, so I thought I'd ask right here.
Their requirements:
*Doesn't need to be a EDC, they carry a Springfield Hellcat daily which was their first firearm, and they've become quite good with it.
*Calibre unimportant.
*Fun factor and personality are the big deciders.
She's tried my PPK and Kimber Eclipse, and liked them, but they didn't tickle that spot, so hit me with your suggestions; what do you suggest to consider? And what's your fun gun of choice?

Any good quality "plinker" in .22 LR. Important points, for me, are a comfortable grip and decent sights.

Ruger Wrangler. Cheap to buy, cheap to shoot, hilariously soft recoil.

Heritage rough rider with the 16” barrel.
Mainly for the laughs but also because it’s fucking ridiculous.
I seriously need to buy one just to pull it out of my pants penguin style.
FTC_Publik@reddit
I have one and it's genuinely one of my favorite guns.
walmarttshirt@reddit
I always joke about it but I really want one.

M57 TT Tokarev
Expensive but highly effective round. Slings brass 20 feet backwards. 1.5 foot fireball every couple rounds. Trigger is bullshit but my buddy and I call it the commie staplegun. Hella good time!! My most ridiculous shooter.

Throwing my vote at a TX22 and a suppressor. Then your friend still has money to buy you lunch for suggesting them.

This. Also I'd reccomend maybe a Keltec P17. I bought one for 180 and take it to the range every time and love it. And it comes threaded barrel ready for a Suppressor. TX22 or that are loads of fun on a decent price.

I love my Sig P322, 20 rounds of .22LR and it runs well. I would also say a nice decked out Ruger 10/22. Those combined would run you about 1500 if you get a nice 10/22.
pacmanwa@reddit
I wish I bought that instead of the Sig Mosquito, though I have a 10/22 that is amazingly fun to shoot.

I love my RIA 5.0. I’ve shot very few guns like it. The shooting experience always provokes some fun responses from my friends and family. I’ve had family shoot 6-8” groups at 10 yds, switch to the 5.0, and shoot sub 3” groups.
9mm Luger 17+1 Tons of personality (see barrel shape) Under budget if you order from the right places.
Only downside is some limited aftermarket support. It’s a new platform. There’s a few people doing holsters, optics plates, mag extensions, and you can get cz 75 mags to fit with a tiny bit of work.
There’s not a ton out there so they can be hard to find, but I have contact info for some of the people at RIA-USA. PM me if you have any interest!

Ruger MK IV: moderately cheap, super cheap to shoot, and has the cool factor.
Palehorse67@reddit
$1500 could get the Ruger Mark IV, A TX22 and a suppressor and tax stamp.
wikkid3rdgen@reddit
And probably a brick of ammo
Stretchearstrong@reddit
+1 for this. Came here to say this, 1500 would get one and a couple fun volquartsen parts.

Yea, a 22lr is way fun to shoot, and even more so with a suppressor. The Ruger is solid choice. I also like the TX22 by Taurus
heavilyarmeddad@reddit
Mine is SBR’ed but you can keep it as a handgun, the VZ61 is a blast.
Geebus_H_W_Christ@reddit
Maybe a bit of a weird choice but I absolutely love shooting my Nagant 1895 revolver. It has an extremely heavy double action trigger, is completely obsolete and horribly impractical.
But there’s just something about it that makes it different. Maybe it’s the deliberate loading of individual rounds and then swinging out the loading gate and using the ram rod to kick out each individual cartridge. Maybe it’s the historical charm, or the super crisp single action pull, extremely soft recoil and surprisingly good accuracy. I absolutely love this gun and it’s the stupidest, most fun thing I own 😁

Budget is a hugely important, missing detail.

Kel Tec P50. Low recoil, looks like it belongs to an 80's drug lord, 50 round magazine so you can shot for days without reloading.
Granted, 5.7x28 is pricey...
No-Savings2297@reddit
If price and practicality aren't issues swing big my desert eagle is always a hit at range days 50ae thumps good but surprisingly controllable recoil considering the size of the lead going down range.
Just about any .22 revolver as many have mentioned very cheap to purchase, maintain, and enjoy
A nice .357 revolver can be a good time for some and not kill the bank (if you want more control ability shoot for a 6"+ barrel)
Taurus TX22 very nice 22 semi auto is a great range arm
I myself love taking my ruger security 9 to the range just to plink very comfortable in the hands and can be on the cheaper end of shooting as it's a 9mm.
Beagalltach@reddit
Chiappa Rhino is fun, really soft recoil for a 357 mag and even softer with 38 special. I would recommend the 4" or 6" barrels.
