With the market slowly converging towards "The Car" I really miss manufacturers like Simca

Or old Citroën etc. etc. What is your favourite brand from the past? Do you also like the wild and whacky or beautiful stuff manufacturers did before market research and global positioning were the norm?

Pontiac. Most Pontiac models were very fancy and stylish, and many car enthusiasts loved their performance models. Unfortunately, GM had to close down because Pontiac couldn’t earn enough money for GM.

Which ones? The rebadged Aveo? Or the rebadged Cobalt?
Styling is ultimately subjective, but I don't think anyone's ever considered a Pontiac "fancy" by any standard.

Solstice coupe

Rebadged Camaro? (because Knight Rider) or its previous gen (because Smokey and the Bandit)

Pontiac was cool AF from the 50s into the 90s. Even after that with some of the rebadged like the GTO and G8. Solstice was cool. GM ruined the brand in the end, but the GTO, Firebird/Trans Am, Grand Prix, and Bonneville gave Pontiac a decades long fantastic run.

International Harvester.

Absolutely. I've been on a tear of verbally acknowledging every Moke -- hope that counts -- I've seen for the past year or so. It reminds me of when I was a kid and would do the same for anything interesting. I'd buy one if I lived in a warmer climate.

Had to look up what it is, but now I want one too. They're exactly the kind of thing I was thinking about. Noone needs, almost noone wanted it, but they still gave it to us.

Just remembered the 3 abreast seated mid-engined Murena. It was intended as a family sports car, it flopped magnificently.
