I don't really care what people do on the shoulder, just don't come crawling back onto the freeway from a dead stop.

Last time I had this happen it was a guy hauling an Amazon trailer that pulled out from the shoulder of I-15 from a dead stop with all the speed and grace of two turtles fucking. I was *very* lucky that the left lane was open and he got the full air horn when I went past.

Almost got in a wreck like that but with a uhaul. It was steady flow of traffic, raining and of course didn't have their 4 ways on and they pulled out and I had to use the shoulder to pass them

Honestly it's something that people should lose their license for and be banned from holding a CDL for life.

WillBilly_Thehic@reddit

CDL manual tells you to do this, and lawyers will try to use the letter of the green book against you

tjeick@reddit

Sorry the CDL manual says to get into the r file lane at 5mph??? Fuckin missed that one didn’t they

It amazes me how many trucks just go straight on the highway. I fix a lot of trucks in the side of the freeway. I always tell the driver to stay on the shoulder until they get up to speed then merge in with the traffic. Then I go back to my truck to wait for them to start going and they pull straight into the right lane at like 5 or 10 miles per hour…. It’s terrifying to watch as all the trucks coming up are hard braking and trying to change lanes. Get up to at least 50ish before merging.

JankyMark@reddit

They have a tendency to do that a lot

This this this. Some fucking dick face driving for Schneider came out on me from like a quarter ahead a week or two ago. I had to go from 70 to like 15 in that short space. Fucking hope that guy drove off a bridge by now. Fucking moron.

Don't flash your high beams at night to signal I'm clear, dim ( turn off and back on real quick a couple times) them. What dumb ass thought blinding me so now I can't see shit was a great idea

4wheelers or truck, if you don’t got the 4 ways on while on the side of the road like that, I ain’t giving you that courtesy of hopping over
View on Reddit #38159955

Tricky_Big_8774@reddit

I thought you were supposed to put your high beams on?
View on Reddit #38109744

TossmySalad88@reddit

Omg yes, why does this happen so often?

CoolTemperature1602@reddit

My guess is 100% of those people are not on reddit. They also don't know how to use triangles.

BriskManeuver@reddit (OP)

You'd be surprised how many people don't know they have to utilize them. Common sense lacks in this community including truckers on reddit
View on Reddit #38095006

TossmySalad88@reddit

Many don't know HOW to use them either. Seem it a few times where a 3 are within 15 feet of the rig and often reversed!

CoolTemperature1602@reddit

Well you'd be surprised that nothing in trucking surprises me. And it's not common sense it's MTO or DOT regulations. I'm not shocked that a lot of people that have their license are not the people that actually did the test to get the license. In Canada they just did a small blitz in Ontario and caught a drive who didn't have a license for 20 years. How the fuck is that falling through the cracks for that long?

BriskManeuver@reddit (OP)

20 years wow wtf lol
View on Reddit #38095474

CoolTemperature1602@reddit

I know. I haven't had to hand anybody my license in nine years so I can see it's possible.

That's kind of impressive

Fucking beet truck was broken down on  a fairly major road in my city. No flashers. No triangles. No driver in sight. Just parked in the lane with his hood open.  Fuck beet season.

Yea cause I'm not going to get over.

AdventurousLawyer646@reddit

Also don't stop in the middle/end of a curve. You shouldn't be stopping on the shoulder if you're not broke down. DO NOT JUMP BACK ON THE RD FRM A DEAD STOP, BUILD YOUR SPEED UP ON THE SHOULDER 45MPH MIN!!!!!!! YALL SHOULD BE WATCHING THE GPS LOOKING FOR THE EXIT RAMPS THAT YOU CAN CROSS OVER TO THE ON RAMP EASILY THEN TAKE A PISS/JACK OFF/WTF YALL BE DOING!!!!!!!!

I’ve had to pull over with no lights before when the damn pig tail wiggled loose and lost all lights. But had them back on in a minute or two. Had jam a zip tie between it and the connector to keep it from moving.

#why the shoulder when there’s an off ramp or rest area 1/4 mile farther. … Yes I’ve actually seen this

The company I work for fired a driver for sleeping on the shoulder of 95 repeatedly. Glad they did cause he was a POS anyway.

I saw one of these the other day. It's insane.

There is this big shoulder area in Riverside Ca off the 60W, where other drivers usually pull over and, yes, you guessed it, no 4W, and crawl back on the freeway. Pisses me off cause the entrance is right before this area, and i'm trying to build momentum, only to have to slow down, let these drivers in, watch them take off, and start all over.

InvestigatorBroad114@reddit

I’ve had to pull over to check my truck before, I find an off ramp to do it… It’s amazing how you can hit 50 mph before merging back on the interstate. Some of these guys just flip on their blinker and full send at 10 mph back into interstate traffic

The people sitting there with their right turn signal on instead

~~Put ur 4 ways on if you're on the shoulder of the highway~~ Don't stop on the fucking shoulder if your truck isn't broken Find an on ramp or something. *Fixed it for you*
View on Reddit #38101554

BriskManeuver@reddit (OP)

I mean yeah. But if you're gonna be on the shoulder at least throw those emergency lights and triangles out. That's my point
View on Reddit #38106742

FilthyNasty626@reddit

This. Unless I threw a rod through the block I am going down to the next ramp/really fucking widespot ./ to get away from all the morons on the highway.
