Avtek 400

I had a real crush on this aircraft. It aimed to compete with the Avanti and Starship with its twin pusher props. The preformance was planned to be similar to the P-180 at a size similar to the Beech 200. The most unusual aspect is the over-cockpit canard.
A 19-seat commuter version was planned but never went anywhere, either. Only this prototype, which didn't even have the planned delta-swept wing combination, was built.
Ah, the 80s and their designs.

is this the same airplane?

That's exactly the same aircraft. They flew the concept demonstrator for that episode. Thanks for posting that link!

It's the only one. Let's blow it up!
Funny the thing that what blew up was different than what they shot at.

I see the problem! Of course that prototype was also never going to go anywhere. Not at least until they'd inflate that flat nosewheel.

Similar to the Lazer built in Albany, Georgia. I worked there, and it was built like a tank.

It does appear pretty similar. The Lazer had a high wing and a low canard, kinda reversing this configuration. Cool!

You are completely right, my friend. The Lazer also had a fuel tank above the cabin that looked like a huge pillow. It was awkward looking. I can see now where a potential customer would be hesitant to taxi a Lazer up to their company's flight line.

Would love to see these around today. Shame creator passed away before it got going.

I’m sure I have seen it parked up at some airport I’ve been exploring on Google Earth, and wondered, “What on earth is that?”
Anyone know for sure where it lives?

Another reply posted a link to an article about it that included an airport name. I just looked and found it at Camarillo (KMCA) as posted in the article:

That’s it! Camarillo. Good work.
