I'm in a bind and need help please. I'm an American who went to Hungary to see my long distance gf/fiancee. While I was there we decided to get married in Hungary. We got all the paperwork and the state approved us so we're legally married in Hungary. I decided that I should apply for the family reunification visa but needed to stay longer than the allowed 90 days. I wanted to ensure that I could stay in Hungary for an additional 90 days for a consecutive stay of 180 days. I went to the American embassy in Budapest and they told me there's an agreement between the US and Hungary that allows Americans to stay in Hungary for an additional 90 days but are not allowed travel outside of Hungary during those 90 days so I stayed. When I was returning home to the US I had a connection from Hungary to Switzerland and then to the US. Well I got stopped at the Switzerland airport and was told I was breaking the law and they were going to detain me. I told them my situation and they said they knew nothing of that law (extra 90 days in Hungary) and they basically banned me from entering the Schengen union for two years!! I can't wait two years to get back to my wife. I need help. Can anyone recommend a good immigration lawyer in Budapest or anywhere else that could help me? Thanks for reading.
