Hello guys, I'm restoring a couple of Sparcs:
Sparc Station 10
Ultra10
and a Sun Blade 2000.
There are some pictures of the NVRAM fix attaching an external battery.

I don’t know how many electrolytic caps are in the SS10 and SB2000, but there’s definitely a few on the Ultra 10 that will need to be replaced even if they’re not actively or obviously leaking.

I visually inspected them and the seem good, no bulging, leaking etc.
Do you guys replace all the caps in 20+ year old equipment.
Pa the ultra10 has been running for 2 weeks. With high CPU loads , no issues yet.

It wasn’t the 486 era that had bad caps due to manufacturing, it was well into Pentium era. I believe it’s the same situation for the Ultra 5/10 and I’ve seen a lot with bad caps, personally. For me, it’s worth the $5 in caps and half hour of time.

Went back to the story is from 1999 to 2003; when the bad caps were made, but the made it into new systems all the way to 2007.

iirc sparcstation10 does not have any electrolytic capacitors on its motherboard. There are quite some of them in the power supply, though.
